The Sun has risen and yet Zack was still down in his crib. He has no plan of going to work so he ignored the time that was set in his alarm.
The pillows were all over the floor and the duvet was crumpled as his whole body was plastered on bed.
And when the ray illuminates through his window – he covered his face to avoid the bright light that was gleaming on his face. His head hurts and he groaned in pain. He was drunk last night and he was absolutely wasted with the amount of liquor intake.
He buried his face on the linen sheet as he flipped over his body. His phone rang and it was Secretary Cindy.
With his eyes closed, he searched for his mobile above the bed side table and placed the call on speaker mode as he answered.
"Cindy!" He said with a croaky voice.
"Good morning Sir! Are you coming in today to sign some documents?" she softly spoken despite of a dead approached he received from his boss, she managed to make her voice pleasant to hear.
Zack didn't answer, he just breathed heavily and Cindy waited for his response for a few seconds until he broke the silence with a toneless manner.
"Ask the driver to bring the documents here and I'll work from home, got to go!" then he hung up without even giving his secretary the chance to go against his order.
Then he snapped his phone and tried to go back to sleep when another call came in and irritated him. Since he was heartbroken, his interest in everything has been gone. He has been impatient and rough, the tenderness in him has vanished.
Talking to people, going to work, doing his daily routine like jogging and working out in the gym has been eliminated in his lifestyle as well. He became a totally different person.
He stood up and sit upright while searching for the phone he just threw in the bed, and once he received the call from his favorite cousin, he exploded out of annoyance.
"What?" his grumpy voice startled his cousin.
"Hey! Chill out, it's 8 in the morning and you're as hot as noon time" his giggling tone irritated him more.
"Exactly! It's 8 in the morning and you are pestering me! What do you want? He yelled at Darren but it didn't scare him to death, instead, he spoke in a harmonious way.
"Brace yourself bro! You'll be happy once you hear my good news!" He assumed that his cousin will immediately jump off the bed, the moment he tells him what he knew about Alyssa.
Zack rolled his eyes before he uttered a word "Speak up before I drop the call!" and Darren started providing the information, as expected- Zack stood up with excitement and he was rushing to the bathroom as he ended the call.
"Thanks Darren! I'll see you around." He hung up and went to shower.
After less than an hour, Zack was ready to go out. He grabbed his warmer that was hanging on the rack stand and before stepping out of his room, he had a glimpse of himself in the whole body size mirror to check how he looks like underneath the black trench coat.
And he looked perfectly stunning. He smiled to his reflection and under his breath he mumbled.
"I miss you baby...I can't wait to see you" and his feet started to drag him out of the room.
He went out of the house with high hopes, and at the back of his mind he was begging for some mercy "Please let me see her!" he was half excited and half nervous.
He was having mixed emotions when he was rushing through his car and by the time he laid his hands on the steering wheel, his heart started to race like a horse.
"Relax Zack!" he told himself as he breathe deeply and started the engine of his car and just before he stepped on the gas, his conversation with Darren replayed on his mind.
"Hey Zack! Last night I recalled while I was looking at the fashion magazine of Mademoiselle Celine, Alyssa mentioned before that she operates a clothing shop at Brooklyn downtown."
"Really! How can you forget? Just now you remember that?" Zack was sarcastic at first, but he couldn't hide the excitement beyond the disappointment.
"Sorry bro, sometimes my memory sucks! You know that very well." He lied to him. That was just his alibi for not being able to tell him that they met Alyssa accidentally. But to somehow at least help him out, he gave him a hint on where to find her. He apologized and Zack understood his shortcomings – he was still thankful for his help!
"Have you check the area near Roque's? She said, her shop was just a couple of blocks away." He was very specific with the details.
He remembered the day when they were in Roque's, she did mentioned that her business was just around the corner that's why her team likes to hang out there.
Beside the drink that was cheaper than any other bar in downtime, they also have live bands every other night and a wide dance floor. "Why didn't I remember that?" Zack was mumbling while he was rubbing his head out of disappointment.
"My bad Darren- I was totally consumed by my anger and I wasn't thinking straight too!" he apologized and thanked him for saving his day from misery.
Just before he get off the driveway area, the gate was opened for another car who just came in.
He recognized the Yellow Chevrolet Malibu approaching the driveway so he opened his window to show out his face.
"Ciara! What brings you here?" he shouted as soon as he saw Ciara get off her car.
She was heading towards his car and as she stood in front of the driver's door, she took out the envelope from her Gucci bag and handed over to Zack.
"This is for you!" she said in a silvery tone. "It's from Aly."
Zack was surprised to hear Aly's name and random thoughts came across his mind when he realized Ciara's encounter with Aly.
His eyebrow furrowed along with a curious question "Since when did you two get along? His gaze was piercing through her soul. He grabbed the letter in her hand and ripped the side of the envelope gently, while waiting for her reply.
"We did not! She just contacted me to be her messenger, obviously!" her tone dropped and she looked away as she smirked.
"And how did she get your number? suspiciously he asked while unfolding the piece of paper in his hand.
"I have no idea, i didn' ask!" innocently, she uttered.
He didn't say anything... He wanted to know how did they meet- when and where exactly it was but that very moment he was more curious to know what was written in the letter.
He read through it and as he go along, suddenly his face frowned. A few times, he shook his head out of disbelief. His face was gloomy and Ciara can sense anger in him.
"So, what did she tell you?" Ciara became nosy about the letter's content. She knew that whatever was written there would only break Zack's heart. She has this instinct from the beginning but she doesn't have any idea what could it be.
Zack was so furious. He clenched his fist and hit the steering wheel repeatedly, and when he had enough -He buried his face between his arms and words of objection were the only thing that Ciara could hear while he was weeping.
"Stop it!" Ciara raised her voice to caught Zack's attention. But Zack was totally out of his mind.
Ciara pulled him out of his car and grabbed his both hands. "Look at me." She ordered, but being demanding didn't help a lot, he lost control and sat on the ground with his back laid flat on his car door. Ciara bent down and console him by keeping his head low under her wings.
"Hush! Don't do this to yourself Zack" She hasn't seen him so wreck like that before, even when he was separated with his mom and he lived with his repressive father, he did managed to stay strong and survived. But because of his 1st love, he was totally a loser. He was pathetic
"Zack! Answer me, what's the letter for?" Ciara dared to ask right after he simmer down.
He lifted up his head and dry the tears from his eyes. He deeply inhaled to muster up his courage to reveal the content of Aly's letter.
He murmured under his own breath "She's getting married in 3 weeks". And his tears started to pool in his eyes once again, which he couldn't hold on. And as he utter the words of defeat
"She's not choosing me." His tears were racing down from his cheek. His heart was ripped into pieces and what hurts him the most was the thought of losing her without even saying goodbye.
Zack crumpled the letter in his hand. He opened the car door and start the engine once again.
"Where are you going" Ciara panicked as soon as he slammed the car door and Zack didn't say anything. He stepped on the gas and he was in rage as he drove the car.
"Zack!" Ciara exclaimed.
Zack didn't bothered to stop, all he could think about at the moment was to see Aly and talk to her about her so called farewell letter.
His nose was runny as his lips frowned. Every now and then he went through with the stabbing feeling in his heart and it happened every time the phrases she said lingered back in his mind.
"I'm getting married in 3 weeks so please forget about me and don't look for me." Those words were too harsh and he was shattered by the news.
He has to see her and hear her thoughts personally. He won't let her go without even trying to win her back. And he was willing to do everything for the sake of love- no matter what.
"You are so unfair Alyssa Park!" he groaned in disappointment.
Back then in a beautiful paradise, he was drowning in happiness "Aly, I felt your love when I held you in my arms." Their memories of love came flashing back without realizing it.
"Your lips were burning in desire as you surrender them to me" he felt the warmth of her kisses in his sub conscious mind.
He gripped onto the steering wheel tightly and stepped on the gas pedal for a higher speed.
"I'm not giving you up- I won't let you go Aly!" he uttered softly and quietly.
"When you realized that love is worth fighting for... You don't give up easily even if it breaks you."
