Today’s the day
Walking through my family garden is my favorite past time. Although it's hardly a garden. It's more like a sanctuary for all living plants. These days it's a little more of a forest but I love it! I'm wearing my favorite lilac dress. I'm running barefoot when I hear someone yelling my name. "Nadia!" I look around but I can't see anybody. "Nadia," the voice yells again. It sounds awfully familiar but I still can't find the person belonging to that voice. "Nadia," he screams and I shoot up from my bed, covered in sweat. I've had this same dream for months now. I can never find the person screaming for me. I can only hear the panic, the despair, the familiarity of him. But why can't I ever find him? And why do I really want to?
"Nadia! Time for breakfast," my mom yells from the kitchen. I groan internally. I can't possibly go to school today. I haven't slept well in months and it's really taking a toll on me. I hop in the shower and let the cold water saturate my skin. It's a last ditch effort to try to wake myself up. It kind of helps. At least I tell myself it does. I get dressed rather quickly, throwing on my favorite converse and my black hoodie. My mom hates the way I dress. I run downstairs and snatch a piece of bacon from the plate. "Nadia , honey, I love you, but I'm going to burn that hoodie!" She sighs. "You know I love you, but how will you ever find a mate if you don't dress more like a lady? Nobody man wants a tomboy for a mate!" "Gross mom," I yell out. "Any wolf who wants me for a mate is just gonna have to accept that I'm a badass warrior. In a kickass black hoodie!" I smile as a crunch my bacon and I hear a honk outside. "Bye mom," I yell out before running out the door.
