12pm the next day being Tuesday, Jake wasn't back home.
Ella looked at the clock.
"24 hours!" She dialed 911
"911, what's your emergency?"
"My brother's been missing for 24 hours"
"Were you the young lady who called yesterday?"
"Yes, that's me" Ella said.
"okay, please can you provide your address?, so we'll send an officer to your location to take a report".
" So, Ms Ella, you said you last saw your brother yesterday by 8am?" An officer asked.
"Yes Officer, I left by 8am and came back by 12pm and I haven't seen or heard from him since then" Ella said
She was sitting on her couch, looking worried sick as the officer interrogated her.
"Was there anything strange about him before you left?" The officer asked
"Not really, he's been acting strange lately, so yesterday wasn't any different" She said.
"You said he's been acting strange, strange how, for how long Ms Ella?"
"Uhh...well you see my brother was supposed to get married three days ago, Saturday, but he ditched his bride" She said.
"Ditched his bride?"
"Yeah, he didn't show up for the wedding" She shrugged
"Do you have any idea why he would do that? The officer asked.
"Well, he was with her for her money, she's rich you know and we're struggling as you can see" She said waving her hand across their poorly furnished sitting room.
"So he used her and dumped her on their wedding?" The officer asked.
"Yeah, you can say that".
"Okay, have you asked your neighbors of his whereabouts?"
"Yeah, no one's seen him"
"Any relatives?"
"None, we're orphans, we don't have relatives, our parents were only kids"
"Okay.." The officer said
"... we'll do our best to find your brother" The officer said standing up.
"Alright, thanks"
"Stay safe". He said.
'Doorbell sound'
A young girl probably in her early 20s opened the door.
"Hello..... officer?, is there a problem?" She asked.
"No, I'm looking for Ms Vivian Anderson" The officer said.
"ohhh, I'm her sister"
"Is she home?"
"Yeah" The girl said
"okay, can I come in now Ms?"
"Yeah.... sure.... sorry" She said and opened the door.
"I'll call her" The girl said.
"So Ms Vivian, you were engaged to be married to Jake Lugard" The officer asked.
"Yeah, don't even remind me about that"
"What happened?"
"That as*hole left .e standing at the altar without showing up" Vivian said angrily.
"Okay, calm down , he's missing do you know that?" The officer asked.
"Yeah and no I do not know where he is, I have nothing to do with that jerk".
"When was the last time you saw him?"
"A day to my wedding" She said
"And you didn't see him after that?"
"No, why would I?"
"Did you call him after the wedding?" He asked further.
"NO, I haven't seen him neither have I heard from him since Friday, Officer".
" I understand, thanks for answering my questions, have a nice day Ms Vivian".
"You too officer " She said.
"Got anything useful? Another officer asked officer 1.
"The guy didn't show up on his wedding on Saturday, hasn't been in contact with his fianceé since Friday, his sister last saw him yesterday by 8am". Officer 1 said.
"Check around the neighborhood" Their boss instructed.
They split up and started their search.
After some hours, they found a body in the forest close to the river.
