Mandy grunted sitting up in her chair, her curly hair now dyed red.
She clapped her hands together softly " I'm so proud of you Taygay!"
I chuckled to myself watching her and Marvin as we all had lunch together.
Ysander was going to be late today. Supposedly he had an important appointment to attend to.
Mandy scoffed " At least one of us has a date for the prom. What am I gonna do?"
She frowned at me and I couldn't help but bite my lip .
" Why don't you and Marvin go as friends? "
Marvin coughed choking on his drink as we both glanced in his direction.
He continued choking until mandy patted his back, rolling her eyes unamused.
" Let's hope he doesn't ask me to prom. He'll probably choke then too!"
I couldn't help but blush to myself.
I actually had a prom date.
Marvin sat up poking his glasses higher on his nose.
" Do we actually know what we are planing for... College. Like where do we think we want to go?"
Mandy rested her head in her hand " Well. I wanted to stay in Sparrows. I'm going to SX sixth form and going to carry on Studying to be a psychologist."
Wow! She would be good at that.
" I think you'd be amazing as a psychologist Mandy!"
She gleamed at my words as Marvin looked up at the ceiling " Very interesting path Amanda. I plan to move further North. I'm going to Attend Carlisle Sixth form and train towards becoming a Barrister."
My eyes widened at Marvin as did Mandy's.
He gleamed looking between the both of us.
" What?"
I chuckled " Those are big dreams Marvin."
He nodded " But I intend to give it a hundred percent effort."
I chuckled glancing down at my food.
I put down my cutlery and cleared my throat.
" I don't know where I'm gonna go yet... But I want to be a teacher someday."
Mandy leaned forward " You're gonna make an amazing teacher!"
Marvin nodded smiling to himself before enquiring " An English professor? "
I nodded as he chuckled "I expect nothing less. You will bring words to life Taylor."
I smiled at him " Thanks!"
Mandy focused on her rice pudding as I noticed a racket coming from the cafeteria entrance.
Ysander had just walked in with his friends and their girlfriends.
I bit my lip wondering when he would want to hang out, so I hurried to look down at my phone.
Like clockwork I had just caught a text from Ysander reading
" gym?"
-
I pressed my kiss to his hand as he smirked pulling me along the quiet stairway to the gym.
Sitting down beside him I exhaled looking up at him.
" Hey babe?"
He hummed pulling out his crisp packet.
" Yeah what's up Tay?"
I cleared my throat " What are your plans for college?"
He smiled over at me " I wanna get into Chemistry and Biology maybe train to be a doctor, a physician or a sports physician."
I smiled at him " You'd be amazing at what you do. You're such a caring person!"
He grinned ear to ear.
" Yeah well. I just attended an interview at Carlisle's Richmond College. They said they have a pretty good programme for people interested in both biology and chemistry. I'm thinking it might be right for me."
My jaw fell open.
Carlisle.
As in... Scotland?
I bit my lip.
" Carlisle's pretty far."
He glanced over at me with a chuckle.
" Don't worry about it. It was just one interview I mean the more options I have the better."
I frowned at him "And what if Carlisle seems like a good option? Are we gonna break up after a year of meeting half way?"
He exhaled focusing on his crisps.
I stared around the room. Telling myself not to get upset. I mean.. I could always apply for Carlisle too... Hell.. If we moved away maybe we could even stay in the same dorm room or maybe share a flat together.
I exhaled " Ysander. Its okay. I'm sorry for overreacting."
He glanced in my direction, Eyes filled with warmth.
" I know you're worried, but I promise Tay I'm gonna do whatever I can to see you. I mean... "
He fidgeted with his crisp packet frowning to himself.
" You're the first person I've ever liked... In this way."
I nodded to myself.
I had applied to several places including Carlisle, but I never expected I would ever need to travel that far in order to study.
If Ysander moved though... And if he was okay with it... Maybe I did wanna go to Carlisle College too, from there we could also attend whatever uni we wanted.
-
It wasn't Long until I was called into a local business building to have an interview with the tutors responsible for my course.
I smiled at them.
" Hi! I'm Taylor!"
They glowered at me encouraging me to have a seat.
I felt anxious but as sensibly as I could answered the questions they posed.
I began to worry that maybe I had rambled on too much, so much so that at one point I was stopped by the male tutor who frowned behind his spectacles.
Not much was said, though criticism was given of my understanding of literature and my love of reading.
I was quickly brushed off and sent home.
And at that point... I began to worry.
My grades were good. So maybe that would help towards something but... I worried maybe it wasn't enough.
I pouted at Mandy when she asked how my interview went.
She groaned noticing my silence " Its okay. There will be other places honey."
I stared at my plate of food.
Yeah... There would be. 10,000 miles away from Ysander.
To be honest. He'd opened my eyes. Yes he meant the world to me... But we still had so much ahead of us.. Maybe we would meet other new people.
I quietly accepted that if things didn't work out... I would do whatever I could to at least... Keep him close as a friend.
