Chapter 2

2400 Words
“MOVE! THEY’RE HERE!” said a nerdy-looking girl With curiosity in her eyes, Violet turned to the door that leads back to the school building. She was a group of guys marching towards her. A small laugh escaped her lips when she realized the leader in front of them was marching towards them angrily once again. Oh, another plaything? “Who among you is Violet?!” he asked—more like demanded—as soon as he got closer Just before she could get up, Tyler covered her and faced the guy. She scoffed at that and leaned back to let her brother do his thing. “Why? What’s your problem?’ Tyler asked, her tone was serious and held authority “I said I was looking for Violet.” The guy spat out her name as if it was venomous and glared at Tyler “Unless that b***h was you, move aside.” Violet stood up, placed an arm around her brother’s shoulder, and smiled widely while batting her lashes playfully “You called?” The guy’s glaring eyes turned to her “You’re Violet? Do you know what you did to my girl?! She’s in pain because of you!” She rolled her eyes and shifted all her weight to her brother who stood still to carry her weight “It was a rank match, not a pillow fight. Of course e, she’ll be in pain.” He scoffed angrily “How dare you hurt her like that!? Do you not know who I am?!” Violet gasped and said, “Oh my goddess, I didn’t know…” Then she paused and pointed at him “Wait, who are you again?” The side of his face twitched for a few seconds before his booming voice echoed “I am Steve Marcus! The leader of Bloody Cards!” Violet couldn’t contain her laughter and ended up scoffing at that “I-I’m so sorry. That sounded like a British person cursing during a game of poker.” Tyler scoffed inwardly before regaining his composure. Steve glared and didn’t even say a word before attempting to punch her. Violet smirked, watched as his fist came near, and Tyler caught it, inches away from her face. “That’s not very nice.” He said before returning the punch, sending Steve back. Just like that, another fight occurred. Violet swiftly dodged and attacked the guys who were aiming at her. She was trained to be precise and careful after all. And just as soon as she finished all the other guys in front of her, she felt a hard hit come on the back of her head.  Suddenly, she saw a flash as she hit the back of her head on the bleachers. “Oi! Cara mia!” She heard a voice call for her.  Violet quickly hushed him before peeking on the corner of the school’s building where she heard noises earlier. Screams of a girl echoed in the empty alleyway and drew her in. There in the middle of the alley, she saw a guy dragging a schoolgirl that looked like she was near their age by her hair on the rocky dirt ground. She continued to scream and attempt to break away but the guy kicked her face to try and shut her up while the other guys laughed at his actions. “Jane Garcia.” He laughed loudly “To be fair I did warn you that if you poke your nose at our business the second time, I will pummel you to the ground.” Then he licked his lips “But… it’s either that or—” He reached out for her buttoned blouse while Jane squirmed, begging for him to stop. Violet wasn’t having any of it and she was about to step forward when someone grabbed her arm back. Looking back she was greeted by a shadowed-faced guy who scolded her saying “Are you crazy? That’s Kurt and his gang! We’ll be beaten into the dirt if we intervene!” “Mio caro, They’re hurting her and I am not gonna stand here listening to her screams.” Violet pulled her arm away from him and ran towards them Before Kurt could touch Jane, Violet jumped in and kicked him off of her. She quickly crouched in front of Jane, blocking her from their view. Kurt turned to see who dared to hit him but laughed when he saw Violet “Oh good, another plaything.” She growled, “Don’t you come near her.” He laughed loudly once again “What are you gonna do about it? Cry?” He shook his head ‘What is it with girls and being nosy?” She quickly helped Jane get back on her feet. Violet saw two guys running towards their direction, but dropped on the ground when The shadow-faced man ran towards them and attacked them. Violet smiled at that and faced Jane “Can you still walk?”  Jane, who had been querying non-stop, shook her head “H-He broke my knee.” She felt sorry for her but had no time to express it “Stay here a bit.” Violet got up and began to attack the others who attempted to come close to them. She then stood closer to the shadow-faced man to let him hear her. “Mio caro, get her to safety.” She instructed, “I’ll hold them off.” The guy glanced at her in disbelief “What? I’m not leaving you—” “I’ll follow behind you so go get her and run! Her knee’s broken so get her out of here now!” She yelled He grunted and kicked the last man that tried to get near her and went to carry Jane bridal style “I’ll come back for you!” Violet chuckled and continued to push them back while he made a run for it. After she made sure they got far enough, she made a run for it. She chuckled when she saw them meters away from her. “Just run1” She yelled to let him know she was okay That’s when he picked up the pace and ran quicker, still making sure that Jane was in less pain than she already is. Violet tried her best to catch up with them but her stamina at that time was too low. That’s when she felt a searing pain in the middle of her backside. She heard no sound but she was sure she was shot. As she fell on the ground, her last view was of the guy with a shadowed face turning at a corner, and relief washed over her. Gasping, she shot awake and looked around to see she’s laying on the bleachers. Pain jolted on the back of her head causing her to groan. “Are you alright?” Tyler asked worriedly  She grunted in pain but managed a smile “I’m fine, Ty.” “Cara mia!” Violet whipped her head around only to squeak in pain as she held her head again. “What the hell are you doing?” Aera asked, helping her lean on the bleachers  She looked up at them and quickly asked “D-Do you know anyone who I called Mio caro?” They paused and shared glances before shaking their heads. They looked confused and surprised at the same time. “No, why?” Aera asked She sighed and pushed her hair back only for it to fall and cover half of her face once again “That’s weird. I dreamt of someone calling me Cara mia.” They shared confused glances again before looking at Violet. They shrugged it off and claimed she must’ve been dreaming after all. It was weird since Violet knew that the part where she was shot was a memory, but the rest was unclear for her. Weird. Aera's POV “D-Do you know anyone who I called Mio caro?” Violet asked, and I immediately knew her thoughts  I looked at Kora then at Elise—and a few feet from behind her saw the silhouette of someone I knew all too well. He placed a lip over his lips and I instantly knew what to say. I shook my head and said, “No, why?” "That's weird. I dreamt of someone calling me Cara mia.” She said, completely confused. I felt bad for not telling her anything, but it’s not my place to tell her. I wanted so bad to tell her, but he wouldn’t let me. As we made our way out of the court Violet quickly regained composure and smiled at us reassuring us that she was okay. She quickly got back to her usual self which at some point put me at ease.  With that, we left to get to the afternoon class. ---- School hours ended and I finally felt relieved that our first day didn’t have any more fights to deal with.  As soon as I walked out the door, I could see someone behind one of the columns a few feet away from the doorway. I glanced down his arm and then his dangling hand where he gestured 1. I couldn’t help but sigh as I faced Violet “Are you heading home Nyx?” Violet nodded “Yeah, I’m required to. I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” I nodded and waved my hand at the twins before they made their way out. Turning to Kora and Elise, I could already guess that they know about it. We nodded at each other before sprinting towards his dorm. Just as soon as we got to his door, Elise pushed it open and was greeted by his group who sat on the sofas. She stomped towards him and pointed a finger at him. “You better go out there and tell her who you are.” Elise glared He chuckled and continued to tune his guitar before handing it over to the nearest person “You know I can’t, Elise. As much as I want to, I still am a coward for not owning up to my mistake that I left her there and thought she could handle that.” I slapped my own forehead “Screw that—you won’t know what’ll happen if you don’t try!” “Nothing will happen if you continue to stalk her like some creep.” Kora rolled her eyes He scoffed “You do remember that her dad cursed me for not saving her.” “Which she does not know of.” I complained, “You know how she is, and she won’t stand that type of reason.” Annoyed, he raised his phone towards us to show an email from someone under the name Anderson—must be a relative of Violet’s “Her dad emailed me, warning me that if I talk to her, she’ll be taken away from this school and sent to states with her sister. I can’t have that.” Vince, one of his friends clicked their tongue “I’ll go tell her.” Glaze snatched a knife from his desk and pointed at Vince “Do it, I dare you.” Vince chuckled and raised his hands in defeat. “Then you should at least try to come close to her.” I said, trying to convince him otherwise “Don’t you think she at least deserves to know?” “She knows you call her Cara mia,” Elise added “That’s all in the past.” He gritted his teeth “I’d rather have her stay with no memories of me than let her be sent away again.” I pinched the bridge of my nose in annoyance “Sounds pretty cowardly to me.” The glaze was about to get up but James pushed him back down by his shoulders saying “Yo chill.” I chuckled. I knew I was always good at getting on people's nerves. He sighed and placed the knife back on his desk and said “I really wanna get close to her, but you know her father. He’s a powerful man and his words are the law. I can never go against him after knowing he has power over Violet’s life. I’m not willing to take her happiness away from her.” I sighed. He had always been like this when it comes to Violet. I guess I’m just too happy that she’s alive and well to the point that I want everything to just return to normal as well. I guess it’s not that simple for most people. Before we could react to that, the girls from his group came running down from the second floor of their dorm. “Boys1 Let’s go!” They cheered, ignoring their presence in the room They quickly dragged the boys towards the door as if they weren’t even there. Glaze looked back, snatching his mask from the counter, and said “Lock the door for us, will you?” With that, they slammed the door shut and left the three of them standing in the middle of the room. A sigh escaped my lips “This is giving me headaches.” Kora fell on the couch with a grunt and said “I’m still trying to get used to the fact that someone dead came back to life.” Elise sighed as well “I hope Glaze can muster enough courage to talk to her again.” I nodded and said “yeah… I hope she finds out about her Caro soon enough.”
