It’s been 10 days since Violet came back to their school. She has her luggage with her since her dorm number was already given for her to live in during the school year... She was too exhausted from training at home and wanted to rest instead. Although she didn’t wanna be under the same roof as her dad so she left for school. Sadly, Tyler was sent to another school for a mission from their father.
Everything was less fun for her now.
As soon as she entered the gates, eyes were already on her like usual. She found it annoying now given that it’s her tenth day there with them.
Yawning, she walked towards the partially empty hallway since she left home early to avoid hearing a few seconds of scolding from her father. Arriving at her locker, she opened it and took the stuff she needed.
“Did you hear? A match is occurring between the First and Kurt.” Her ears perked up when she heard the familiar name from the girls just a few meters away from her
Kurt? She silently gasped when she realized who that was. KURT!
Slamming her locker, she locked it and faced the girls near her. She smiled sweetly and asked, “Where’s this match again?”
One of the girls nudged the other who spoke trembling “A-At the courtyard.” She pointed her finger directly towards the field.
Violet thanked them before sprinting towards the direction of her dorm’s number. She swiftly threw her luggage in and ran out quickly. She was lucky enough to finally have her dorm since she hated it when she stayed home with her dad.
As she saw the entrance to the courtyard, she quickened her pace and finally saw figures of large groups sitting on the ground while two other people fought in the middle of the circle they had made. She was able to pinpoint which of the two was Glaze and who was Kurt. Glaze wore a mask that covered his face, while Kurt’s face was visible enough.
From how far she reached she heard their yells of conversation—it was mostly Kurt who yelled— to which she rolled her eyes.
“Glaze, just give me the first!” Kurt mockingly laughed loudly “You wouldn’t be hurt any longer if you did so!”
The guy named Glaze didn’t even respond to it.
“Just give it up, Glaze,” Kurt said once again
“You’re not gonna last!”
“Just give it up!”
“f**k off!”
“f*****g give it up already!”
Violet stopped just a few meters away from the circle when Glaze quickly spun and hit Kurt’s face sending him rolling through the hard floor. He glared at him and scoffed.
“You’re too annoying.” He grunted
That voice is familiar. Violet thought. Weird.
Kurt coughed out blood from that one blow. Violet was impressed—that admiration lasted only a few seconds since her anger bubbled up again when Kurt pushed himself up.
“The match is over, Kurt.” Glaze said, “You may leave.”
“No. I’m not done—”
Violet ran in his direction and kicked his face with so much force that he fell back hitting his head. Kurt gasped out in pain and cried out as he clutched his head.
She laughed “Missed me, dipshit?”
Kurt looked up at her and gasped in surprise “Y-You.”
She crouched beside him and smiled widely “What’s the matter? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Violet’s smile fell as she now stared at Kurt with a menacing gaze “Kurt Evangelista, I challenge you to a match for the second rank.”
His members protested in whispers and mutter as they all looked at him with curiosity, clearly waiting for his response. But Kurt was still too shaken up to reply.
Glaze then answered for him “As the highest rank I permit this match. Whoever loses goes back to being rankless. Rules laid out, you may begin.”
Kurt gasped in fear as he looked up at Glaze to call for help, but Violet had already attacked him and pummeled him to the ground. Violet didn’t hold back. The anger of knowing he was the one that caused her to die in the first place was taking over her by every punch she gave.
Second, after second, she continued to pummel Kurt until he fell unconscious. As she sent in another punch, she felt an arm grab hers. For a second she felt the same feeling from the dream she had during the first day.
She looked back to glare at whoever stopped her but ended up pausing for a few seconds when she saw the familiar grayish blue eyes that were as clear as day to her.
“Enough!” He said angrily “He’s already unconscious. You might get suspended if you continue.”
Violet shoved his hand away and faced him “Listen here, I take no orders from anyone.” Then she paused “Come to think of it, since you’re already here, let’s fight for the first rank.”
He was stunned. For a few seconds, he didn’t move and simply turned to gesture at his members.
She glared “You coward! Why turn your back on a challenger, huh?!”
He stopped on his tracks then glanced over his shoulder. Violet couldn’t see the lower half of his face but she was sure that he was smiling at her before finally walking away.
Annoyed, Violet stomped her foot in anger and glared at Kurt’s men that attempted to help the battered guy behind her. She growled at them before marching off to find a restroom to wash her hands off. As she entered the empty restroom, she opened the nearest faucet and washed the dirt and blood that's drying up on her knuckles. She sighed.
I could’ve gotten my position back if that coward didn’t back away.
“Congratulations, Second rank.”
Violet jolted and turned to her side in surprise. She was preoccupied and didn’t even notice that someone else had entered the room.
“Oh, thank you.” She smiled and turned back to the mirror
The girl then proceeded to brush her long blonde hair. Violet was mesmerized by her beauty to which she didn’t realize she was staring at her through the mirrors.
"Ninth rank, Desiree Clon, leader of Blue Blood." she offered a hand to Violet who took it with a shy shuckle “you were amazing back there.”
“Thanks.” She said again, not knowing how to prolong simple conversations
Desiree chuckled “Stay alert around the other gangs though. They tend to play dirty.”
“Does it involve you?” Violet asked, leaning on the edge of the sink
She chuckled “No need to worry about me. I am already happy with my current rank and aiming for something higher is futile.”
Violet chuckled at her remark as she nodded. Desiree turned to walk out of the restroom, but stopped beside Violet and teasingly dragged a finger from Violet’s neck to her chin then smirked.
“Stay safe, pretty face.” She winked
When she finally got out of the restroom leaving her stunned there for a while. Violet shook her head and washed her face before running back to her dorm. She’s exhausted and it’s still morning. As soon as she entered her room, she shut the door and looked at the clock. 20 more minutes.
A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she lay on the sofa—since she hasn’t fixed her bed yet—only to be startled by a knock on her door. With a groan, she yelled “Who the hell is it?!”
"It's Aera,you idiot.”
She sighed and got up to open the door. Just as soon as she got the door open, Aera barged in, slammed the door and gave Violet a hard hit on her head with her palm.
Violet shrieked and said “What was that for?!”
Aera then hugged her tightly and said “You are a complete and utter lunatic! Why would you suddenly go against the second and challenge the first?! Are you nuts?! What if you were hurt?!”
Violet smiled and leaned on Aera’s shoulder “Well you’re here, if I was hurt I know you’ll patch me up.”
Aera twisted her ear causing her to yelp in pain “Don’t you dare make this a joke.”
“I won’t! I won’t!” She said as she tried to stop Aera from twisting harder. Sighing in relief, she massaged her ear as she pouted at Aera “That hurts.”
Aera sighed “What am I gonna do with you, Nyx?”
Violet pinched both of Aera’s cheeks and pulled it sideways to make her smile “Aera, I promise you I’ll be careful everytime I do reckless things. So please don’t worry too much and trust me.”
Aera was contemplating whether she would be mad or happy about what she said. She had always had a soft spot for Violet after all. She sighed in defeat “You better. Or I’m burning you alive.”
After their small talk, Aera went to class while she skipped the first period to rest. She was unable to sleep the first few minutes so she took the scrapbook she brought with her. It was what helped recover her memories in the first place. It was so thick that she didn’t even get to finish it. She was half way through—her middle school years.
Flipping through the pages and reading the short and funny captions that she could guess she wrote, she came across an unfamiliar face that stood just beside her in a group photo with her other friends. Her face contorted into a confused look as she threw the next pictures.
She read the caption and saw;
‘A picture with mi caro.’
She blinked “...Huh?!”
