The Siren Princess

Selene’s POV Selene!! .. .. Selene Analessia Valarius !! Come here right now! Dad yelled shoot! Dad used my full name I’m in trouble hopefully no one told him about my outing last night I made sure the guards didn’t follow me so there’s no way he could have found out about that. I get up from my shell and swim over to his quarters. “Yes dad” I say quietly his silver eyes are glaring at me he swims his way over to me his tall and intimidating figure is hovering over me now and I can feel his aura coming off in waves of anger. “You thought you were sneaky Selene ! You thought no one would notify me!” He shouts the vein on his forehead is popping out he’s more then angry hes furious I gasped trying to think of an excuse any excuse at this point. “Dad I’m sorry.. I..” “Why did I just get a call from your International language teacher that you failed your French test!” He growled I twisted my head in confusion “Answer me Selene! There is no excuse you have access to the best tutors under the sea! You knew that material! NOW EXPLAIN YOURSELF!” He growled his shout shook his whole chambers. I exhaled slowly “I did know the material I only failed the speaking portion and that’s only because I couldn’t do the accent Dad! And Mrs.Benoit was extremely hard on me! She wanted me to speak it perfectly and I just couldn’t” I say Dad glares at me “That’s still unacceptable Selene! You’re grounded!” “Dad that’s not fair! We were going to go up to the human town for ice cream after the water games tomorrow please dad don’t do this!” I whine “You won’t be going to the water games either Selene! Until you bring that grade back to your A+ average you will not be attending anything!” He snapped “You’re impossible!! I’ve never failed a test before this is cruel punishment!” I shouted back at him. “what is going on” Aeron’s voice filtered in as he swam into dads chambers. Aeron is my big brother the soon to be Siren King he’s just as big as dad and has pale skin and platinum blonde hair we share the same eye color a unique aqua blue with a ring of gold in the middle. He’s the best big brother and we actually have a decent relationship, but sometimes he can act just as strict as dad. “Dad is upset because I failed one portion on my French test and he has grounded me from going to see the water games and our social gathering after” I whined at Aeron giving him my best puppy dog eyes hoping he will take my side but to my surprise “You shouldn’t have failed any portion! Selene your the princess of this kingdom not some omega! Your smarter then this! What is Zach distracting you that bad in class that you can’t pay attention ” He scolded me “It was one portion the speaking portion! And no he has not been a distraction Aeron he’s not even in that class with me!” “Zach ? You’ve been spending time with Zach! Eva’s and Manuel’s son” dad yelled “Oh great thanks Aeron another thing dad is going to yell at me for” I narrowed my eyes at him he glared back at me with a smirk etched on his face “Yes I have been on occasion only in social gatherings” I say looking up at my dad. “He’s way to old for you Selene your only 17 he’s about to be an adult and you are the princess you can’t just go around spending time with male sirens it’s not a good look on you!” He growled “I’m not doing anything with him dad I promise he’s just been a nice guy and we are friends but even if we were doing something he’s not much older then me I’ll be 18 in 3 months just like him!” I snap he pinches the bridge of his nose “We are rearing off topic fact of the matter is your grounded until you bring up that grade and as for Zach I’ll be having a talk with him!” I huffed crossing my arms over my chest I looked over and saw Aeron smirking at me pleased with what dad has said he’s always hated Zach. “I can’t wait to get out of here and out of this house! I mean out of this Kingdom!” I yelled “Selene you don’t mean that” dad shouted coming over to me “I Do!” I shouted and slammed the door of his quarters I swam over to mine burying my head on my shell bed ughh! I hate them! This is why I’m constantly sneaking off without permission dad doesn’t understand me andd Aeron is to royally f****d to understand. I wish mom was still here she would have understood me, she would have defended me against my dad and Aeron. Unfortunately she passed away in an attack when leviathan came to the kingdom it took all our warriors to kill the beast like serpent I was only 10 at the time so I didn’t fight in battle dad put all the women and children in our underground vault except for my mom she refused to enter the vault, she was a true warrior and fought alongside my father. while they fought the sea creature Dad used all the power he could killing the beast but before it was gone it grabbed ahold of my mom and injured her terribly she suffered a brain injury she couldn’t recover from and passed away days after the attack. Life just hasn’t been the same since, dad try’s everything he can to keep me inside the kingdom because he’s afraid to lose me to but it’s like living in a golden prison. It’s not right to live this way, I can’t wait to turn 18 and leave this place, I’m not the next heir to the kingdom thats Aerons place he will take over after dad gets to old to rule so I’m free to do whatever I please, I want to travel the human world and see places I’ve never seen before. Dad doesn’t like the human world mainly because they share their world with supernatural beings like werewolves, vampires and Fae’s. Although the humans are oblivious to any supernatural beings they still coexist in the same world. Under the sea it’s just us sirens and the occasional sea monster, Sailors also occasionally pose a threat when they see us while swimming and tend to get obsessed with finding us and exposing our existence but there easily taken care of. humans tend to be pretty dumb and fall for our siren songs easily causing them to fall over board and drown we only do that when it’s absolutely necessary though. A knock breaks me out of my thoughts “Selene” A guards voice rings from outside my chambers I recognize the voice as Valamar, “Go away” I say sternly “I was just here to remind you school starts in a few minutes I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble again” he says gently I sniffle a little and look at the clock he’s right if I don’t go now I’ll be late, I open my chamber door slowly I look up at him he has a small smile on his lips, his brown hair is swishing around in the water “Thank you Valamar” he bowed “My pleasure princess” I grabbed my bag and headed out to school….
