Damon’s POV. It’s been two days and I felt restless. I know it’s none of my business and we’re not even friends, but I have this strong urge to check up on Kim. She skipped school yesterday and she has refused to pick any of our calls.  The only form of response any of us has gotten from her was a simple message.  “f**k off”.  Which she sent to me after I had tried calling more than ten times.  The idea of going over to her place and checking on her kept coming to my mind and even though it felt like I was crossing a line, I knew it was necessary that someone checked on her.  I picked up my phone and dialed Cole’s number, maybe he’ll agree to follow me to her place. He seems to be on her good side so the chances of her kicking me out will be lower with him around. “Hey man, what’s good?” Cole asked as soon as he picked the call. “Yo. I was wondering if you’re interested in following me to Kim’s place. I think it’ll be good if we check on her.” I replied. “Since when did you start caring about people?” Cole asked. “Since never, I just feel guilty because I know it’s our fault in a way. So are you coming or not?” I asked rolling my eyes even though I knew he couldn’t see me. “Sorry man, I’m out with my parents. You’ll have to sail solo. Try not to piss her off and get yourself killed.” Cole jokes and didn’t even wait for me to reply before cutting the call. I guess I was really on my own. * * *  There was no need driving since I lived close to her. So I walked and when I got to her doorstep, I rang the bell. I waited patiently, but no one answered, I was about turning and walking away because maybe no one was home, when I noticed the curtains moving. Not sneaky enough Kim. KIM’s POV. I told my mum I wasn’t feeling too well so I could get some time away from school but I know eventually I’ll have to either go back to school or go to a hospital if I insist I don’t feel better yet.  I was sitting by my reading table thinking of a way to get out of this whole situation when I heard the bell ring. My mother didn’t tell me she was expecting anyone and I can’t remember giving anyone in school my address. “Mum!!” I shouted at the top my lungs.                                                                                                                    “Did you order pizza or any thing like that?” I asked. “No. But do me a Favour and check who’s at the door.” She shouted back. I knew she’ll send me down there. I should have just ignored the bell and not asked anything. Walking grumpily downstairs, o got to the door and checked the peephole before opening. Surprise..surprise, it was Damon. I didn’t need him or any of his friends adding more drama to my life.  I waited for a while, hoping he’ll assume no one is home and walk away. I decided to check through the curtains to see if he’s still there and fortunately, he was turning away. With a victorious smile, I walked away from the window and stared the journey back to my room. Ding! Dong!  The bell went again. Seriously! Who was it this time? “Honey I thought I told you to please get the door.” My mum said sounding not so happy as she rushed to the door. She didn’t even bother checking who it was before opening the door. “Oh hi there. If you’re looking for your dog, he’s not here today.” My mum said chuckling lightly, and I didn’t need a genius to tell me that Damon was the one at the door. I thought he walked away. “Hello Mrs Martins, actually I brought notes for Kim since I did not see her at school.” Damon said throwing an accusing look my way. “That’s so nice of you. Please have a seat.” My mum said gesturing to the living room.                                                                     “Kimora Martins, you better not be going back to your room.” My mother said and I could feel her glare drilling into the back of my head. “I would never do that mother dearest.” I said, a fake smile plastered on my face. “Good. I guess I’ll leave you both then. If you need anything I’ll be in my room.” My mother said walking past me and giving me warning look. Once I was sure she was out of earshot, I turned to Damon. “What the hell are you doing here?” I asked getting straight to the point. “Oh hi Kim, nice to see you too. Hope you’re doing great. No need to thank me for the notes.” He said sarcastically, throwing two notebooks my way. “I know you didn’t come here to give me school notes and why will you even come here?” I asked not bothering to hide my annoyance. “You have skipped school since the video came out and you’re not picking calls from any of us. Soon enough someone was going to come here to check on you. And yeah, you told me to f**k off. Very uncultured behavior if you ask me.” He said stretching his legs on the sofa.  “You’re done bitching, you can leave now.” I said ignoring everything he had just said. “Will you at-least address what happened at the park? I haven’t stopped thinking about what you said and the stained look on your face when you checked your phone.” He said facing me squarely. “It’s nothing you should worry about. Now can you please leave. I have to go to bed early today.” I said walking to the door to usher him out. “Why are you doing this? Pushing everyone away. Look, I’m sorry about the night of the party. It was my idea not to tell you about it, don’t hold it against Jeff and Cole. But I know what I saw at the park and I know you’re hurting about something. I may be a jerk and I honestly still don’t like you, but I’m willing to help. I’ve had my fair share of hurt to know it’s not the best feeling.”  He looked and sounded so sincere, but I just did not need this. “Noted, at least I know who to blame for not telling me about the party. Can you leave now?” I asked holding the doorknob. “Just think about what I said. Please. I don’t want to see you getting hurt by whatever this thing eating you up is.” He said holding my arm. He was standing too close, I could feel the heat radiating from his body. If I made I careless move, our lips will meet. “And when did you start caring?” I asked moving closer to him, a silent challenge. “My friends  have warmed up to you. I care about them so I won’t forgive myself I could do something to help you and I don’t.” He replies inching very close. Challenge accepted I see. I held his gaze calculating my next move, moving closer will most likely have us kissing. “f**k you.” I said moving closer, I could feel his breath on my lips and I’m sure he could feel mine too. We both moved closer at the same time. “Kim I hope you have not killed our guest.” My mother’s voice came from upstairs, interrupting whatever was about to happen. “Actually I was just about leaving.” Damon said stepping away from me and looking in the direction of my mother’s voice.                                                                                                                                                       “Thank you Mrs Martins, see you another time.” He said and walked out of the house without sparing me a glance. As soon as I shut the door, I crumbled against the wall. What the hell just happened?! I wasn’t bothered by the fact that we almost kissed. What bother me was the fact that I wanted it and even now as I sat on the floor, I couldn’t stop thinking about how his lips will feel on mine. What is wrong with me?
