Chapter 3

|| OKSANA CASTILLO's POV||

" Arghh...It hurts.."

I rubbed my head, feeling heavy-headed. After sitting on my bed properly, I refreshed my memory. Yesterday, I ended up in the bar and then the later part of my memory was blurry. This headache was proof of how I had screwed up everything last night.

I let out a growl of pain, gingerly getting out of my bed. Suddenly the memory from yesterday hit me hard, a clear image of Dimitri kissing me. A gasp of shock escaped out of my mouth, my face draining all the blood.

Did I kiss Dimitri last night? Fuck.. Kendrick will kill me if he finds out.

The thought horrified me to my core. I had already broken a rule by going to that bar. Strangely I expected Kendrick to come and find me but I got no reaction at all. After getting changed into my regular clothes, I walked out to find Dimitri first. I had to shut him off. Kendrick was going to punish both of us if he heard about the incident. I didn't want Dimitri to go through any punishment because of me.

" Dimitri??"

I called his name out, stepping into his room without a knock. Thankfully, no one saw me coming to his small mansion, next to the pack house. The scene in front of me left me breathless for a second. Dimitri had just finished working out. His taut muscles were adorned with sweat, a small mint coming from his half-naked body. Gosh! He looked hot after working out. I swallowed my saliva uneasily before looking away.

He was surprised as well, but still replied politely,

" Luna! Sorry! I didn't hear you coming."

He looked so unaffected and natural. It made me wonder whether I was hallucinating the kiss or not. His deep eyes held mine, awkward silence passed between us until I began to speak weakly,

" Well.. about last night...Did you report to your Alpha? About the kiss.."

He cut me off sternly, his rudeness taking me by surprise,

" Nothing happened between us, Luna! NOTHING! About Alpha, it's better for you if he doesn't know anything."

I puffed my cheeks in anger. I wished Kendrick knew what I had done last night except for the kiss. Clenching my jaw hard, I replied with a snort, forcing myself to distract from his sweaty body,

" He should know that he isn't the only one who can have fun."

Dimitri suddenly shot me a long stare, his deep eyes weakening me. I cursed myself mentally for acting like a coward around him. It felt weird to be around him. Strangely my wolf was always excited to be around him. Dimitri crossed the distance in a few steps, his face inches apart from me. Using his husky voice, he told me something that took my breath away,

" Alpha is planning to announce Raemon as his heir tomorrow. You better be prepared, Luna."

I gulped hard as soon as I heard him. Although Dimitri didn't say anything else, his eyes were carrying a mysterious gleam. I looked away nervously, rubbing my forearms. Raemon was Kendrick's biological son.

Why did everything make me scared then? But I couldn't remember anything from the wedding night. Why did my heart feel so uneasy?

" You should be happy, Luna! Is it something bothering you?"

Fiona asked worriedly, touching my makeup. Today was Raemon's ceremony. For every mother, it was the day to be proud of her son. But my wolf was feeling down. A strange nervousness was running through my spine.

I bit my bottom lips to appear neutral. But I was badly failing since the fear was written all over my face. What if Raemon's wolf didn't act up? What if Kendrick decides to harm my baby?

I sucked in a deep breath, fear crawling to my heart. Kendrick loved power over everything. He could do anything to get whatever he wanted. The door burst open, a high pitched annoying voice drummed in my ears,

" She looks like a dead fish. Lucky, it's her son. Otherwise Alpha would have never bothered to give you these pretty dresses."

It was Zendaya, accusing me of her piercing voice. That woman never tried to conceal her hatred for me. The fact that Kendrick never taught her a lesson, she went more and more wild lately. She hated the fact that Kendrick started paying attention to me a little more after Raemon started growing up.

I replied with a wry smile, wishing to pouch at her face,

" Yes, and this dead fish is your Luna, darling. Don't forget that!"

Her smile faded, rage replacing her features. I knew that I had just hit the right spot. Letting out a snort, she said with a glare, swaying her ass to walk away,

" You will pay for this, humph!"

I just shrugged her threatening. Nothing ever happened to me right in this packed house. What was I afraid of then?

Fiona tapped on my shoulders, a smile creeping on her lips,

" You have changed, Luna. Let's go! The beta is waiting for you to be escorted."

A tight knot tugged on my heart as soon as I spotted Dimitri, standing on the doorstep. Kendrick instructed him to bring me to the ceremony. Whenever I looked at his face, our kissing moment flashed in my memory. I took a gulp. Such feelings seemed too sinful, so ironic yet I couldn't help with that. The way he craved my lips even for a brief second, I could still feel the taste of his mint breath in my mouth.

Dimitri lifted his eyes to acknowledge my presence, his lips parting to say something. But he paused awkwardly, openly eying at my outfit. I probably got the best outfit after coming to this pack. It was a long maroon gown with, a deep v shape and beautiful pearls adorned on it. The slim-fitting gown fits my features completely. A soft sigh released from his mouth. He took his eyes off, blowing his air out. After an awkward silence, he marched towards me, offering me his arms,

" Luna! Alpha has assigned me to present you on the stage. Prince Raemon is waiting for you already."

I nodded my head weakly, the nervousness brought shivers to my spine. At this moment in life, I had no one to rely on except one person. Although I didn't even know him well, the way he kept secret about my visit to the bar, hope aroused in the bottom of my heart. I opened my mouth to speak to him but right at the moment, Kendrick burst into the room out of nowhere.

His dead eyes met mine. I shivered under his killing eyes. In a swift movement, he stormed over to me, gripping me by the throat,

" You slut! HOW DARE YOU GO TO THE BAR WITHOUT MY PERMISSION?"

I choked on my saliva, pain shooting through my veins. Didn't Dimitri say that he didn't tell anyone?

Tears blurred my eyes as Kendrick kept using more strength, nearly suffocating me. My teary eyes shifted to look at Dimitri. He looked indifferent to the whole situation. The thought of his betrayal struck me hard. Before I could say anything, Kendrick threw me on the floor, stepping on my gown to slap me several times.

A distant scream echoed from the background. In my dizzy state, I saw Raemon, struggling in Zendaya's arms to get free. Kendrick continued unleashing his anger, slapping me repeatedly,

" HOW DARE YOU DISOBEY ME? I WILL KILL YOU TODAY!"

He kept hitting my face, blood started dropping from my lips. I let out a growl of pain when he stepped on my leg, almost cracking the bone. It was over! I had no chance of survival today. As I waited for him to hit me again, a roaring voice stunned all of us,

" STOP IT, ALPHA KENDRICK!"
