Ten minutes later, Germain drove out to the northeastern shore of Point Au Roche State Park and parked the car on the side of the road. “Not many people out and about today,” Jace said from the passenger seat. Germain turned off the ignition and reached for the cooler in the backseat. “I thought we could both use some quiet time after today’s craziness.” “Sounds like a plan to me.” For the next two hours, they strolled along the park’s rocky peninsula, looking out as a cluster of sailboats skimmed along Lake Champlain, before sitting down on the embankment.
