CHAPTER 14Anthony missed Kyla but didn't really know why. Sure, he was concerned about her and the other three going out to try to find food for their increased population. Cassandra had stepped into her shoes and did an excellent job at managing everyone. She was caring and approachable, dealt with the minor problems promptly and tried to be as fair as possible with everyone. Even Owl had risen to the occasion and had dealt with a few fights between the men and had reorganised the system to bring up coal for the fires by having rows of people, including the woman pass smaller and lighter buckets of coal from hand to hand up the stairs. Everything else was running well from caring for the animals to dealing with the ill in the infirmary.
