The departure of the duke made Viviene a little sad but its necessary since its his responsibility as the mighty sword of the empire. Someone knock the door.
“Come in.”
The door opened and Merriam entered.
“Good morning Miss. Did you sleep well?”
“Yes. Thanks to the sleeping pills the doctor gave me.”
Merriam went to the window and open the blinds letting the sunlight enter the room. She stood up and grab the robe which Merriam put beside her bed.
“Your bath is ready, Milady.”
Viviene nodded and went to straight to the bathroom. After bathing, she wore a cool pink long sleeve empire style dress. Her hair was tied with a white ribbon and letting her hair down. Unfortunately, Arthur cant join her in the dining room for breakfast yet she didn’t feel disappointed about it.
Being alone is always normal for her.
After that, she went to the greenhouse to check. It will be done after three days and she cant wait to show it to both the duke and Arthur. Whenever she think about it, she felt proud of herself and her work. After she stroll around the greenhouse and the garden, she went back to the mansion and went to the library to read some books. She asked Merriam for tea and snacks. She open the door to the studies and grab some books from the shelf. She went to the couch and open the book to read. She glance at the window for a while.
‘Autumn will arrive soon. My favorite season every year.’ She thought with a smile. She daze at the window for a minute before snapping and resume reading again. Time pass and its already luncheon. Arthur joined her in the dining hall despite his busy schedule.
“Brother, you look like you’re going to faint anytime soon.” She said as she stare at his pale face with dark bags under his eyes.
“I don’t faint, Viviene.” He answered as he took a bite to the food.
“Sure. But don’t you think you’re pushing yourself too hard? No one’s bossing you here, you know. Take some breaks.” She suggested.
“No I cant.”
She sighed and did not insist any longer.
“Lady Walmeir will be here after luncheon.” She reported. Arthur throw a glance at her before speaking.
“Why?” He inquired.
“She’s going to let me taste a tea that’s all.”
“Is it alright with you?”
Her forehead wrinkled confused of his question.
“What do you mean?”
“Being with Eliza. Is it alright with you?” He repeated. Viviene lean on the chair and face him with a smile.
“Don’t worry brother, I’m not going to do something bad to Lady Walmeir.” She remarked.
“Its not like that..”
“I know that I have a bad image in your head, brother. Don’t worry, I don’t want to be pushed in a lake and left drowning again.” She joked and that made Arthur feel bad to his self.
“You’re misunderstanding anything.”
“Misunderstand? In what part, brother? Isn’t it because you’re wary of me when Lady Walmeir is around? You’re afraid that I’ll do bad things to her. Its always like that and I expect it to be everyone’s thoughts of me. Don’t worry, I learned my lesson very well.” She chirped in fake happiness as she took a bite from her food.
Arthur is lost of words simply because all of it were true. He doesn’t care about her before and he always thought of Eliza’s safety when she’s with Viviene. He always thought of Eliza because she is his priority and Viviene, she’s not even in his options.
Not until now.
The lunch ended quietly and coldly. Viviene went to her room first to cool herself. She drop herself on the soft mattress. She felt numb and cold but she wondered how can she even smile in front of everyone. To simply answer her question, its because..
“This is not my story. I don’t have time to do all the dramas of a stranger. But I like it when people around her suffer a little bit.” She admitted in a smile.
She admitted that she likes messing around with everyone. Especially to those three idiots with gorgeous faces. Someone suddenly knock the door.
“Come in.”
The door opened and Finnian enter the room.
“Milady, Lady Walmeir have arrived.”
“Alright.”
She stood up from her bed and walk ahead from Finnian. While walking in the hallway, Finnian suddenly spoke to Viviene.
“Milady, Young Master asked if you have anything you like? He will gladly bring whatever you like in front of you.”
She roll her eyes and face Finnian with her usual smiling face.
“Nothing.”
She turn her back towards him and her smile immediately fade away. She resume her walk towards the audience room. She enter the room and face Eliza with her brightest smile.
“Good day, Lady Cruel.”
Eliza greeted with a smile as well. Viviene took a sit on the couch near to her.
“Here’s the tea I talked yesterday. Its taste really good and its also good for the skin.”
“That’s nice. Lets try it now.”
She ordered the servant to bring some snacks and tea set. While the servant is away they resumed their conversation.
“How are you, Lady Cruel?” Eliza asked.
“I’m fine. Thank you for the tea. I appreciate it.”
“Your welcome. I’ve always want to give it to you. However, Lady Cruel, there’s something I need to ask to you. If its alright, Miss?” She inquired politely at her.
“What is it, Lady Walmeir?”
“Do you hate Sir Valor?” She said directly. She didn’t flinch nor show any expression rather than her smiling face. Lady Walmeir continued her words.
“Sir Valor may be harsh in talking to someone but he is a good person, Lady Walmeir. He’s very loyal to the crown prince and he laid his heart and life for the empire. He’s a very noble man.”
“Why are you asking me this Lady Walmeir?” She chuckled as she look at her in a mocking way. Eliza felt tense but she answered her question.
“Its because I’m Sir Valor’s friend.”
“I see. You’re so kind, Lady Walmeir. There’s no doubt of it. I wont lie to you, yes, there’s not a single day that I never hated everyone.”
Her stares become cold and deadly yet her sweet smile remains. Eliza’s body trembled in fear as she stared at her amber irises.
“I hated everyone. I hated them to the core yet I cant stop smiling. I think being a crazy b***h does suit me, don’t you think so?”
“L-Lady Cruel, its not true.”
“Not true? Why would you think its not true, Lady Walmeir?”
“B-Because..”
“You don’t know me, even my family. They don’t even know what I like and what I hate. Yet now, you know what one of the things I hate. Congratulations.” She muttered in amazement and clap her hands slowly.
“But why? Why do you hate them? They’re kind in their own ways and now they even spare their time to appease your feelings. They’re not like before.” Her bright face darkened and her green eyes become cold as well. Her expression surprise her a bit but it immediately change into a villainous expression she always had.
“Are you perhaps jealous, Lady Walmeir?”
“Jealous!?”
“Why are you so surprise? That’s the expression you just gave me seconds ago.” Viviene stated calmly.
“You’re wrong, Lady Cruel. I’m not jealous of you, its because what you’re doing right now is wrong.”
“Wrong? Then are you telling me that what they did to me is right? I know you are not stupid, Lady Walmeir. I know you are aware of what happened in the past because you are also a part of it. If you’re trying to comfort me with those sugar-coated words you always say to others then please stop. You’re awful at it.” She blurted.
The wind between is very heavy and intense. The door opened and the servant enter with the snacks and tea set. Viviene’s dark gaze vanish like thin air and turned into a gentle stare.
“Lets have our tea. I cant wait to taste it when you went through a lot of effort giving it to me, Lady Walmeir.”
Eliza’s face frown at her smooth feigning. Viviene pour the tea at her cup and to hers as well. She went back to her seat and glance at her face.
“Perhaps I’m jealous at you at some aspects but still, you cant just insult anyone without knowing them well, Lady Cruel.” She spoke firmly at her.
“That is your own guidelines, Lady Walmeir. I wont follow your own because I have my own as well.”
“And that is?”
“Not obeying a stupid individual.”
“How rude. Is this how you treat your guest?”
“Rude? I’m just giving you the treatment you deserve. All the words you’ve said to me, without even thinking of my own feelings, all of it are rude too.” She stated heavily at her. “You may think of me as a bad person, in fact you always did since then, I don’t care, but I am not going to accept your insults to me. If you want to go, the exit is that way.”
Eliza gritted her teeth. Out of anger, she pick her teacup with full of tea and splash it to Viviene’s face. The servant who’s present in the corner the entire time gasp in shock.
“What’s the meaning of this?”
Eliza’s face paled as she glance at the door. Its Arthur and the crown prince with Sir Valor. Their expressions are awful looking at her and showed pity to Viviene who’s drench. Viviene did not bother to wipe her face because she’s too surprise of what Eliza did.
‘My gosh! This is one of the scenes I saw in movies!’ She blurted inwardly.
“Explain yourself, Lady Walmeir.” The crown prince chilling voice send goosebumps to her.
“I-Its not what y-you think, Y-Your Majesty..”
“Are you insulting the lady of this dukedom, Lady Walmeir?” Arthur glared at her.
“N-No, of course not Sir Cruel.”
Viviene hearing them made her eyes roll and glance at them with a force smile.
“Don’t be so rude to my guest, brother and Your Majesty. We have been rude to each other before you came here. You know my mouth, it blabbers nonsense things. By the way, Lady Walmeir, you’re absolutely right. The tea is good for the skin.” She chirped and giggle.
“Stop fooling around Viviene.” Arthur warned.
“Am I? Well, I thought that Lady Walmeir would come here to introduce the tea she’s talking about but I guess I was wrong. She came here to talk about Sir Valor, isn’t she kind? Don’t be like that, I am always on the bad side of everyone after all. That’s why I drowned helplessly in that lake right?” She stare at the three became pale.
She smiled brightly at them and stood up.
“Well, I should walk out like the usual. Adios everyone.”
She started to walk when Arthur held her arm. She glance at him with confusion displayed in her face.
“What happened?” He asked and stare at her. She smiled at him.
“Let me go brother.”
“Why are you acknowledging that you are the wrong one? Are you out of your mind?”
She laugh as if she heard a joke from his stoic brother.
“But, isn’t what always happen? Why are you doubting your eyes now? You’re suppose to be in Lady Walmeir’s side, all of you.” She touch his cheek with her cold hand and smiled at him. Her eyes turned cold at her blue irises. “So please let me go. I am not feeling well, brother.”
His hand slowly loosen up then he let her go. She went out from the audience room and left them with a heavy atmosphere. Arthur glance at the servant in the corner.
“You. What happened here?” He inquired at her.
“T-The guest talked mean things first. Its not the lady’s fault at all!” She explained to them.
“N-No its not true..”
“Lady Walmeir, you are forbidden to enter the dukedom without Viviene’s forgiveness.” Arthur ordered.
*B-But..”
“Shut up, lady. The butler will see you off.”
Arthur and the rest left her behind and head to the empty hallway.
She’s in her room changing clothes. After changing, she ordered to Merriam not to let anyone to enter her room. She took the invisibility cloth and teleported. She arrived under a familiar big narra tree. She took a sits on the ground and lean on the tree trunk when she heard someone behind the tree.
“You’re here again Your Highness.”
“Don’t call me that, Oliver.”
She jolted and glance behind her. She held her breath and her eyes widen.
‘W-Who could these people be!? And..’
“Your Highness? Is he the crown prince?” She whispered.
She did not move and just listened to them.
“I’m sorry captain. But why are you here again?”
“Why do you ask?”
“Because I’m worried that you might be crazy, captain.”
The man laugh at the other man’s remark.
“Well, perhaps?” He replied with hid deep and husky voice.
“Captain, aren’t you going to choose a woman in our empire?”
“They’re boring.”
“Captain Valkeire!”
Her eyes widen again and her body stiffen.
‘Its that damn man that kidn*pped me!’ She blurted inwardly.
“I’m going to crush this empire and not even a single building will remain standing.”
She felt goosebumps when she heard him.
“No one will stay alive even that damn crown prince.”
“No one you say? How about the woman you’re talking about?” The other man asked.
“Well, she’s an exception.”
She calmed herself behind the tree.
‘Who could this woman be? She will be so pitiful to have that man as a partner. He’s crazy.’ She thought while nodding. ‘Not my story. I have to go.’ She added and teleported back to the mansion.
Captain Valkeire who was sitting behind the tree and talking to Oliver stopped talking. He stood up and went behind the tree but there’s no one in there.
“Captain? Is something wrong?” Oliver asked.
“She’s here.”
“Pardon?”
“She’s here but she’s gone now.”
“Huh? How can you tell, captain?” He inquired with a very confused face. A smile formed his lips.
“I smell lavender and roses.”
Oliver who was listening to him got even more confused. He sniff the air but there’s no scent of what Capt. Valkeire said.
‘Oh my dear Lord! My emperor is crazy!’ Oliver thought as his face paled and his mouth gape open.
“I can tell that you’re thinking I’m insane. Fortunately, I’m not. Damn it. I should have used binding spell to stop her from teleporting away.”
“No you cant do that, Captain. We need to focus on our goal.”
“And what do you think I’m doing, Oliver?” He asked dreadfully making the man shut his mouth. “That woman was less valued in that shitty empire. But not me. I’m completely aware of her real worth and that’s why I’m determined to make her my empress.”
The man’s smile even more which was the rarest thing to see in Oliver’s eyes. Whoever that woman is, she made the most dreadful and dangerous man fall to her.
He thought deeply then he remembered the ladies which the captain failed to keep due to unexpected circumstances.
“Sir, who among Lady Walmeir and Lady Cruel are you talking about before?" He asked nervously.
“The latter.” The captain answered casually.
“No f*****g way, Sir.. She’s wicked!”
“Shut up Oliver. I don’t need your description about her. So, I need you to deliver something for me. Something very valuable.” He muttered with a smile. Oliver swallowed his own saliva and his heartbeat increase rapidly.
‘May the Lord showed mercy on His people..’ He prayed.
