Nicole’s POV:
I looked around the closet for an eternity. I tried four different dresses but couldn’t find one that I felt suited me. I kept fumbling through dresses when something gold caught my eye. It was a teal colored ball gown dress with a with a boatneck top. It had gold specs on lace that reached from the bottom to the waist. The belt was gold as well. I tried it on and looked in the mirror. I felt beautiful. I could see my body was healed and it even improved. My posture was better because I was walking with more confidence. My hair wasn’t so dull. There was no trace of bags under my eyes either.
I gulped and grabbed the handle to the door. I was anticipating Evans reaction. I hoped he liked it. I slowly walked out and his jaw literally dropped.
“Nicole, you look breathtaking. You look like a queen. My queen.” He said taking my hand. I couldn’t help but hide my face as I felt myself blushing.
He pulled me close and kissed my forehead.
“Can Lynn help with my makeup? I have no clue what I’m doing. Haha.” I asked.
“Of course. I’ll have her up in a minute. I’ll go downstairs and make sure it’s almost ready. We are going to eat around seven thirty then the party will start promptly at nine. I’ll see you the bottom of the stairs at seven fifteen.” He kissed my forehead again but I pulled him down and kissed him hard. His eyes turned black and he had to stop himself.
“I don’t want to rip this dress off of you yet. I’ll see you soon my love.” He said then slipped out the door.
Lynn was in the room and going through all sorts of things within minutes. She sat me down and covered me with a towel so we didn’t get any makeup on my dress. She finished my makeup and hair right at seven o’clock. She smiled at her creation and gave me air kisses.
“You look stunning Nicole. There are no other words. I’ll see you downstairs in a few!” She said skipping out the door.
I stood there for a few minutes just taking in my appearance. I really did look beautiful.
I walked to the door and stepped out. The hallway felt like it was a mile long and I kept getting further from the stairs. I was a nervous wreck. I didn’t want the pack to not like me or accept me.
But when I finally reached the stairs and looked down, Evan was standing there looking up at me with adoration and pure love. He was mine and I was his, and in that moment all my fears and nerves fades away. I walked down and he took my hand on his and escorted me to the dining hall.
The whole pack was there waiting and I felt all eyes on me.
“Everyone, if you haven’t already heard, our Luna and my mate have finally made it home. She has shown an enormous amount of courage and strength and I can only imagine what she will do for this pack in the future! Her birthday is tomorrow and I figured we would make tonight an all together celebration. Happy Birthday Nicole, and long live the Luna!” Evan preached.
Everyone stood and cheered.
“Long live the Luna!”
“Happy Birthday Luna!”
“Happy Birthday Nicole!”
So many people talking and yelling and all I could focus on was Evan. This night was going to be perfect.
Evans POV:
Nicole was the center of attention. Everyone was so happy I had finally found her. Our pack had their Luna again. After a few conversations and laughs, the food was brought in. I had steaks, ribs and burgers matched with mashed potatoes and fries. I had steamed broccoli, corn and green beans served with salad. And of course Hawaiian rolls. We all ate and Nicole devoured her food. She had two whole steaks, mashed potatoes and corn. Along with two rolls. She sure was hungry, but I put it off on her shifting tomorrow. I didn’t let anyone know other then our group she trusted.
We finished dinner around nine right when the music started playing outside.
“Everyone seems to be about done, so whenever your ready. If you’d step outside to the courtyard, the party will begin!” I said to the pack.
Everyone cheered and rose up out of their seats.
I turned to Nicole who was shoving another piece of bread in her mouth when she caught me staring. I couldn’t help but laugh.
“What?” She said innocently with her mouth still full.
“Nothing, you look like a little kid. Haha.” I replied.
She playfully punched my arm and finished her last roll before standing. I extended my arm and she wrapped her arm around mine. I escorted her outside where we were yet again met with an enormous applause.
“Long live Alpha and Luna!”
“Happy Birthday Luna!”
Everyone was cheering. Nicole was smiling from ear to ear. I could tell she felt accepted.
John’s POV:
That stupid b***h. She just had to find her mate, so close to her birthday. I was following the prophecy directly and I knew she had to die before her birthday. It said whoever killed the queen would become ruler of all the werewolves.
Her parents trusted me, and I admit, sometimes I feel somewhat bad, but I am destined to be the ruler.
She didn’t know anything about herself or how powerful she would be, so I made sure she kept hidden and quiet. I was going to kill her the night before her birthday but they got her first. I have no choice but to try and sneak in and get to her that way. I had a special present and it would end her.
I made my way across our territory and into theirs without any notice. Everyone seemed to be busy away from their posts. That made my job easier. I shifted and ran through the tree line staying hidden and approached their main pack house. I could hear music and people talking and yelling. I shifted back and lifted myself a bit so I could see what was happening.
“Long live the Alpha and Luna!”
“Happy Birthday Luna!”
People were cheering and celebrating her already. No no this won’t do. I had to come up with a plan fast. I went around the other side checking all the windows and finally found one that was unlocked. I looked around and saw presents stacked nicely at the table. I was quick to place mine underneath a few other boxes and slipped back out the window. Then all I needed to do was wait. Soon she would be dead and I would be King.
Micah’s POV:
Evan and Nicole were dancing and laughing. She was still super nervous around everyone but she was starting to open up more. I went and switched the song to something slow and ushered everyone away except them.
“With a memory of a day like today, could get you through the rest of your life…” Today by Brad Paisley played in the background and they danced around in small circles. I couldn’t help but be a bit jealous. I hadn’t found my mate yet. James and Lynn started dancing too then soon all mates couples were dancing together.
After the song finished, I turned down the music and got everyone’s attention.
“Evan, if you and Nicole will meet everyone back in the dining hall, we have a few things to give her!” I yelled.
“Micah, you didn’t have to do that! I didn’t want anything!” Nicole procrastinated.
“Too bad, I helped him. I wanted you to have the best birthday ever.” Evan replied kissing her cheek.
“FINE!” She threw her hands up in defeat and everyone went inside. We all gathered back at the table while some stayed outside. The gifts were really from us and a few other Pack members.
Evan and I handed her gifts one by one.
“This one is from Lynn! Awe Thankyou!” She opened the bag and found a black sweater with a white wolf howling at a full moon.
“I love it!” She exclaimed.
“Next one, this is from James and Micah. Thankyou guys!” She opened up the box and saw a leather bag. Inside was a handgun that only shot pure silver.
She looked at us with confusion.
“If you ever get caught in trouble or need a quick escape, that’s how you do it. Wolves, human, witch, you name it.” James told her. She gave us a warm smile.
She opened up a few more then came to a box that I didn’t recognize.
“This one is from Evan. Awe thanks baby.” She said.
“I didn’t get you that! Wait!” Evan yelled.
I didn’t think. I just grabbed it and ran outside. Then it went dark.
