(April’s POV)
I couldn’t really sleep even though I was exhausted. So while Alex was resting I snuck down to sit with my brother. We were just quietly talking when Mom came in in the cape n' all. It was fun. And I was so happy to see Winter smiling and laughing that way.
I know Mom and Dad probably feel like they’ve got a lot to make up for, but they’re wrong. I think it’s time we all started looking forward instead of back. So, after the fun and games were over, I asked, “Hey.. When Winter's released, how about we take a family picnic by the lake? Just us. Maybe make a day of it.. Go swimming.. Teach Winter to fish.. Stuff like that. What do you all think?”
