Episode 7: The Second Sign

246 Words
Brittany tried to convince herself it was over. The ribbon from the night before still lay folded on her counter. She had hidden it in a drawer, convinced it would never appear again. But her instincts told her otherwise. That evening, she left her apartment cautiously, checking behind her as she walked. Every shadow seemed heavier, every flicker of light suspicious. She moved through the streets like a hunter herself now—alert, tense, aware. Lucifer watched from the rooftop above, hood drawn low, face hidden. He had been patient, but tonight demanded more. Tonight, she would know—just a little—that she was no longer alone. Brittany passed a small alley on her way to the café. Something caught her eye. A flash of red— A single ribbon tied to the railing of the alley entrance. Her breath caught. Not the same ribbon. He had left it deliberately, in her path. A sign she couldn’t ignore. She froze, eyes scanning the empty alley. Every instinct screamed to turn back. She didn’t. She had to see it. To understand. Lucifer stepped back into the shadows, hidden, watching her reaction. The tension was perfect. The awareness growing in her mind, just enough to make the fear addictive. Brittany clutched her bag tighter, heart racing. She realized now: she wasn’t imagining anything. Someone was here. Someone had been following her all along. And this time, the warning wasn’t subtle. The game had begun in earnest.
