Chapter Three: My Mate

PERSEPHONE

I never knew that Second Chance Mate would happen to me this quick. His golden brown eyes made me speechless, it felt like he could see through me. I guarded myself more to make sure that he wouldn’t make it to see through me. And.. I am not sure if he felt it too.

The moment he entered the room, his scent was like dancing around me, a fresh scent, with powdery mint and chocolate. It was so overwhelming that my wolf wanted to come out to mark him right instant.

But I pretended to not be affected by his gaze and his presence.

He is from Crimson Shadow Pack, a legendary pack who’s feared by many. Its Alpha is a Lycan King that no one has ever dared to defy. Their pack is the best warriors, they are very strong, strategic and no one is comparable to them. Him alone is strong and powerful. Silver Moon Pack nor Full Moon Pack is just a piece of cake for him and, if I am not mistaken, they were ranked 1 in the Game of Ranks for 3 years.

I heard a loud thud outside the room, but I couldn't move as I am still almost hanging in here. The chains on my feet are actually nothing compared to my past training. I can even break this chain on my hand, but I refuse to show them anything. When I kicked one of his warriors, it was just my defense mechanism. I didn’t mean to kick him. I can feel my arms are numb already. I heard footsteps and the door from the room where I was in suddenly opened. It was the same guy earlier, the one who came before the Alpha.

“Follow me”

I followed him silently, I could feel that all eyes were on me, but I chose to ignore it. I saw my reflection in the glass, and I was surprised to see myself. I can tell that I looked like a beggar. I had to remove my scent upon running because Lander might be able to follow me. That’s why I was full of mud.

The guy with me is very clean and neat. He has the looks and me? I looked like a beggar. Even though the Hart family mistreated me, I know how to be clean and presentable. We reached a floor with a decent ambiance, the guy with me entered and a lady with purple hair welcomed us.

“Beta Elon, how can I help you?” I was right. He is a Beta, no wonder I can feel it.

“I have the intruder with me.”

“Oh! Yes, Alpha Gage informed me.”

So, his name is Gage.. Alpha Gage.. I gasped when I suddenly recalled who he was.. Gage Ashford.. The rumors of him being handsome are absolutely true, but there was a rumor that he was dangerous and heartless, but one of those rumors is that he is the one who has the best pack, which is true.

“This is Serenity. She will help you clean yourself,” he said, and then he just left. I stared at his silhouette until he was gone. When I looked in front of me, I immediately stepped back as her face was inches away from me.

“Opps! Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you” she said while smiling.

“Come, I’m sure you badly want to take a bath.”

When I heard the bath, my heart felt like it was jumping, I felt like a five-year-old who had been given candy. We entered the room. It has its own bathroom. It actually looks like a hospital room. It is all white. There is one single bed in the corner, a carpeted floor, there is a bedside table with a lamp, no windows, just a half glass ceiling where you can see the sky, so we are definitely on the rooftop.

“I heard you trespassed” she said while she was preparing some clothes from the bag that she had.

“I didn’t mean to”

“Here, you can wear this, just take a bath there, and you can use any of my beauty products here.” I nodded and went to the bathroom. There are a lot of products in the bag. I can only see this to Lilith. I was never given one.

I opened the shower and adjusted the water temperature. As the temperature stalled, I put myself in there, I could feel Gaia purring inside me. I washed and scrubbed myself very well as I really felt so dirty. I washed my hair thrice also, I’ll just pay for her products.

Her product is good! My hair is soft, and my skin returns to its glow and softness, but there’s one thing that I’ve been dying to do. I searched for a toothbrush. Good thing there is

I immediately brushed my teeth as it really felt so gross in my mouth. I took the clothes that she gave me. It’s a white sleeveless dress that reaches above my knee, it’s loose also, and really comfortable to wear. As I finished my routine, I came out, and I really felt so fresh.

“Kyaaahh! Oh my gosh?!” I got startled when she shouted.

‘What the..’

“Are you the same girl who came in there?!” she was so stunned.

“Yeah?”

“You look like an angel! You are so white! Your hair is naturally white with silverish on the edge?” Her eyes almost sparkled upon inspecting me.

“Yes?”

“Your hair is so long and nice!”

“Who said you are from the rouges?!”

“Your Beta?” I said.

“UGH!! He is really dumb! Don’t mind him! By the way, I can be your friend here!”

“I’ll be the one to assist you for now.”

“There will be an event later for the selection of Luna”

“Selection of Luna?”

‘He can’t do that!’ Gaia hissed, and I could feel her temper. I shut her off before she could take over me.

“Yes, it’s not really a selection yet, but there are levels and challenges. Whoever wins will be chosen as the Luna of this Pack. Normally, this event takes really long. There are still 20 remaining candidates.

“20?”

“Yes out of 100” my jaw dropped instantly when she said that

“Here wear this”

She gave me black leather boots that matched my attire.

“But I think you’ll be staying here until Alpha’s further instructions.”

I was not surprised, but it’s a good thing that I was staying in a decent room.

“Sorry, may I know what date it is today?” I asked

“January 21, 20xx”

It’s been a week since I left the pack,..

“Beta Elon”

“w-what in the world” I heard him cussed, so I looked at him. I saw him staring at me. I knitted my brows

“Close your mouth! You’re so embarrassing!” I heard serenity whisper.

“Is she the one I left you with?” I can hear the disbelief in his tone.

“Yes, she is! I can’t believe my eyes too! When I first saw her”

I ignored them as I really felt so tired now, I needed to rest, I could feel his gaze on me, but I just lay in bed and stared at the sky above me.

“Thanks Serenity, you can leave now.”

“You will stay here until further notice. Someone will bring you food from morning to evening” he said, but I just ignored him. I can feel his annoyance, but I don’t care. I am not at ease. I know I shouldn’t be like this since I really trespassed in their pack, but it wasn’t intentional.

I was being attacked by rogues. I have to save myself. I already killed some, but their number is increasing as I fight with them, and I can’t waste all my strength. That’s why I chose to run but..

‘Am I safe here?’

But this is better than having nowhere to go. No matter what, I am sure I can protect myself. I have never stopped training since my parents died. I did my training secretly, but this pack, this pack is led by a Lycan King, who was my mate. Will he reject me too?
