Eric and Daisy woke the last morning of the Alpha's Gathering, and spent the morning relaxing as they prepared to leave that afternoon. It was as theybarroved at breakfast in the makeshift dining tent that she felt Eric stiffen as soon as they walked into the room.
At the high table, on the opposite side of where she would sit, was a man sitting eating that she could tell was Lycan as they went over and grabbed a plate.
"Who is he?" she asked quietly as more of the Wolves arrived surprised tonsee him.
"High Elder Kevin Patrick, my cousin." Eric said as he focused on what he was doing instead of looking at the man.
"Why are you so angry he is here?" she asked as she got her own food as well.
"Only one thing would have made him come here, and the timing is no coincidence." Eric said as he lead her to the table and put himself between her and his cousin.
"Majesty." Kevin said as he inclined his head to Eric.
"What do you want Kevin?" Eric replied coldly.
Kevin smiled as he looked at Eric. "Several reports have come to my attention in the last few days, none of them from you surprisingly." he replied making Eric look at him.
"You mean the reports that are due within 48 hours of the conclusion of the Alpha's Gathering?" Eric asked reminding him of proper protocol among the Lycan Royals. "I will submit them at the conclusion of this conference as is required, not partial reports that require me to revisit them afterward."
Kevin smiled as he looked at Eric. "Reports of you finding your Mate are not part of the Alpha's Gathering as you well know. As well as she is supposedly the next War Chief?" he demanded getting the attention of a bunch of the Alphas who had entered in the last few minutes.
"I was not even aware of that? What report are you talking about?" Eric deadpanned at him as Kevin looked shocked.
"I received a report that at the full moon the first night of the gathering that a white Lycan changed and swore fealty to the Lycan Pack, from Alpha Derrik. Yesterday from the Pack Clinic, I received a report from the Doctor that a Mitochondrial Analysis was performed at the request of Lady Megan, that showed no direct link to Queen Ashley, or War Chief Jane. How are you not aware of that?" Kevin asked as both jumped when Daisy growled.
"Why would you be receiving reports of my personal medical information without my knowledge or consent? Is that not against the LAW Lord Kevin?" Daisy demanded loudly enough to be heard by everyone in the tent.
Kevin considered what he was about to say, as he realized she was correct. Even though the clinic had a legal reporting duty to disclose the results of the Comparison, it was also an invasion of medical privacy laws. "Apologies Ms. Daisy, it is a conflict of laws that was unforeseen." he said truly apologetic. "As you have now admitted theybare yours, it does raise a few questions that I was hoping to clarify with you."
Eric looked at him with a scowl. "What questions would those be Kevin?"
"As it is evident that you are not yet marked or mated, will she be accepting the Mate bond?" he asked making Eric growl loudly.
"You go to far Kevin." Eric growled at him not caring who heard what he had to say. "That is a private matter between her and I."
Daisy cleared her throat as she leaned around him and Kevin looked at her ignoring Eric's outburst. "Lord Kevin, if you would like to know if I intend to reject the King as my Mate, the answer to that would be a firm no. However how, when and were we do that, is not something I will discuss with you now or ever as it is not yours or the Elders Councils business. Now if you are quite finished intruding into my personal affairs we can address the blatant disrespect you have show me if you knew when all this when you called me Miss. You are fully aware me new title is Majesty or Queen, even though I am not yet marked and mated to the King." she said making his eyes go wide that she would know that. As an Orphan, her records would not be part of the Packs records automatically until she joined. As she had nk joined the local Pack, only she and the King could retrieve them now as rightful Alpha and Luna.
"Apologies Majesty, I was unaware you were so well versed in Lycan Law." he replied quickly bowing his head at the shame of being called out on it so publicly.
"There are many things about me you are as kv yet unaware, yet it is my rights and privacy your so called reports have destroyed. Should you have questions in the future, you WILL come to me about them." she replied coldly before returning to her meal as Eric smiled.
"There are many questions that we will need answers to Majesty. Such as your claim to the War Chief ti-" Kevin began as she cut him off.
"I have made no such claim or petition." Daisy said forcefully as she put her fork down. "Until 3 days ago I swore I would be a Werewolf, only for SURPRISE, your not a Werewolf at all. You are the Fated Mate of the Lycan King, and the first in 70 thousand years to have this genetic combination of factors that Prophecy demands you be the next War Chief." she said pushing her plate away barely touched before she stood. "So if you don't f*****g mind Lord Kevin, ensure you speak what you mean. I have made no claims, not even to join the Royal Family as of yet." she said before she stormed off, and Eric could tell by the way her emotions were causing her fingers to spark she needed time to calm down as Kevin Patrick sat there stunned into silence.
"She is a force." he finally managed to say as he looked at Eric apologetically. "It was not my desire to cause tension Majesty." he said trying to diffuse the situation.
"I do not think even Jane would have been a match for her." Eric said remembering the scene from the Rogues she had killed the day before. "Why are you really here Kevin?" he asked as he continued eating like it was normal.
"The Council demands you return after the Gathering so they can perform the evaluation." he answered knowing it would be an issue.
Eric looked at him with an interested look. "I am on this stupid tour because of their demands, and now they demand I cancel it?" he asked not believing his ears. "Which demand should I honor Elder?" he asked sarcastically as Kevin chuckled.
"It seems they believe this issue to be more pressing." he said as he pulled a scroll out and handed it to Eric as the first crack of thunder had all of the glasses rattling on the tables slightly as Kevin looked around. It was still perfectly clear as the sun rose into the sky.
"What was that?" Kevin asked as Eric smiled.
"The Queen." Eric replied as he opened the scroll and began to read that by their order his tour was cancelled and he needed to return with his mate to the Lycan Pack. The crashing of thunder continued, and they knew she was casting a lot of spells.
"Alpha Derrik, how long has she been able to do that?" Kevin asked as Derrik sat next to him.
"I do not know Elder." he said honestly as he continued eating.
"She was in your Pack, how can you not know?" Kevin asked as Derrik set his fork down.
He turned and looked at Kevin, and was clear he was trying to not lash out as well. "That is a matter between her, the King and myself. It does not require the attention of the Elders Council, nor will I discuss the matter with you. Suffice it to say that although she lived in my Pack Orphanage, she was not a member of my Pack. Therefore I have no access to the records from the school, and am unaware of many things about her." Derrik said before he turned back to his plate and Kevin looked like he had been hit with a hot branding iron.
That evening the jet with the Royal Lycans landed inside the Lycan Pack grounds, and Eric escorted her into the rear of the Palace flanked by the guards who had been with her since their arrival at the Gray Dawn Pack.
"We will have to alert the elders within the hour of your arrival Majesty." Megan said as he nodded.
"Inform the entire Council we will be having a working dinner, in 2 hours." Eric said knowing it would appease them as they walked into the Residence.
"It will be done." she said before she seperated from the group and made her way through the corridors.
"What are they going to expect of me?" Daisy asked as they entered a sitting area and tje guards waited at the door. She knew she was the reason for the change in plans.
"They will want to know how prepared you are for the life you are about to enter into." he said honestly as she snorted.
"How the hell is anyone prepared for what has happened to me?" she asked him and he smiled.
Eric sat next to her, and took her hand in his as he started rubbing the back of it. "No one really can. For those not born into this life, it can take years before the Council is satisfied. Your school records would help with that of course." he said as she began relaxing.
Daisy shook her head as the servants began bringing in the bags that were hers from the shopping trip she and Megan had taken the time to do. Her sword was set on the mantle, and Eric looked at it curious for just a moment before he looked at her. "What do I need to know?" she asked as he began telling her what to expect.
As they both entered the Royal Dining Hall, a dozen older Lycans, including Kevin, sat straight across from the seats provided for them. None of them made a move until they had both taken their seats, and the Elders sat down afterwards.
It took only a minute for Eric to introduce all of them, and their role in the Kingdom, which Daisy knew would take her time to remember as she was slightly overwhelmed.
"Lord Kevon has delivered your initial response Majesty, and I must say we are slightly surprised at your stance." Walter Yarrow said apprehensively.
"Why are you surprised Walter?" Eric asked. "Have you never had to make a decision that would greatly impact the rest of your life?"
The Elders looked at each other before he responded. "Normally a Fated Mate jumps at the opportunity to join the Royal Family. The fact there has been no petition from either of you is... surprising." he said after a moment.
"Perhaps none of them were truly worthy of joining the Royal Family." Daisy said making them gasp before she took a sip of the wine and found she liked it. "I however will not be doing anything without taking the time to consider the consequences of those actions." she said as she glared at all of them. "Considering the invasion of my privacy this Council is guilty of, I cannot say as I am very impressed with it. Nor does it seem so welcoming seeing as I have been summoned here to be interrogated before I have even Marked my Mate."
They could all tell she was telling them the truth, and Kevin had warned them of his encounter with her. "We are told you are extremely powerful with lightning spells." one of them commented hoping to diffuse the anger rolling off of her.
"I am extremely powerful with all spells." she simply as Megan entered with the report that she had written since their arrival.
"Apologies for my lateness everyone." Megan said as she came and sat on the other side of the King. "What did I miss?" she asked.
"Elder Michael was just being informed that lightning is not the only spell class that Daisy is competent in. I however am growing tired of the games, and want to know what this is truly about." Eric replied looking at all of them as Kevin smiled.
"The report of the Clinic and the Comparitive Analysis report I received." Kevin said simply. "We all know what this means."
Eric smiled as he looked at them all. "Are you more worried she will ne Queen, or that some prophecy says she will be War Chief?"
The way he put it so bluntly had the Elders squirming a bit as they tried to determine the best approach. "We need to know what to expect." Michael said evasively as Daisy smiled and leaned forward.
"I would like to know that as well, know any seers?" she asked sarcastically. "All I could tell you is what I know, which is barely anything."
The Elders were showing looks of great concern. "If she is unaware of what her trials might be." Kevin said trying not to speculate.
"That we do know, her trials center around Marcus." Megan said before she took a sip of her wine.
"According to whom?" Kevin demanded knowing she referred to the Rogue King.
"Selene." Megan replied unfazed by the demands. Kevin and Eric however were both shocked by how casually she said it. Like they should have known. "What? Jane's writings tell us that the War Chief would reunite the Wolf Race, in a way never before seen as we move to face the test that shall prove us finally worthy. She was imbued with the power of the moon to change our fates, and she did just that. She wrote herself the next War Chief would be blessed with that same ability."
Eric nodded as he remembered her writings on the Rogues. That so long as Marcus lived there would be no balance to the Wolf Nation. "It seems we all have things we must prepare for Gentlemen. Why don't we discuss this after we have all had a chance to refresh our memories on what War Chief Jane has left for us." he said as Kevin stood.
"She cannot become the War Chief until the third Mate is found. That much we know as well." Kevin said with a sly smile. "The evaluations will take several days to conduct, if you are willing Queen Daisy?" he asked as she nodded.
