Chapter 20
The whistles blew loudly. Everyone immediately froze in their tracks.
“This is Warden Spellman,” a voice boomed over the intercom. “You are all to go to your cells. Immediately. You have four minutes to get there. Anyone not in her cell when the doors are locked will be immediately confined to solitary for not less than sixty days.”
Suddenly, the walkways at the top of the walls around the yard were lined with State Troopers.
As everyone shifted into high gear to get back to their cells, Cam looked over at Ruth who stood several feet away. Ruth glanced her way and motioned for her to join them. Cam slid in beside her as they filed quickly back to their cell block.
“Looks like you were right, Andrews,” Ruth spoke in a low voice.
“Unfortunately,” Cam replied.
