3 - Caleb, Reece and Isaiah

1864 Words
Angelica’s POV I laid down in the spare room, trying to force myself to go to sleep. My head was spinning with everything King Nicholas had told me in his letter. My mother, the slut she was, didn’t even know who she slept with to conceive me. She and Simeon never really wanted me, they wanted the money that I was going to receive. Money, I didn’t know about. What the hell? Why didn’t they just tell me? I would have been happy to give it to them. I don’t want my grandfather’s money. From what the letter said, he was a total wanker and even if the money was obtained legally, it still elicited money in my eyes. I rolled over again, punching the pillow to try and get comfortable. You would think sleeping in a comfortable bed for a change; I would be in a blissful sleep, but I can’t seem to get there. My mind keeps going back to the letter and application form. What do I want to do? I never really thought about it. My mind was going over the possibilities and, somehow, I must have drifted off. When I woke the next morning, the scent of honeysuckle with the hint of something else, I think it may be rosemary, was surrounding the room, making me smile. I love the smell of honeysuckle, I think to myself, when I hear a deep laugh next to me, causing me to jump out of my skin. “Who the f**k are you and what are you doing in my room?” “You don’t recognize me?” the deep voice asked, slightly cut at not recognizing him immediately. He looked familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. I shook my head, pulling the blankets up to my chin to cover the sheer nightgown I borrowed from Casey. “Too late, I’ve already seen it. I’m Caleb.” Caleb? Who the f**k is Caleb? He laughs again before walking out of the room. What the f**k just happened? Who is this man, standing in my room and watching me sleep? It’s creepy. Simeon and Connor don’t even do that, thank goddess. I got out of bed and opened the door a c***k to see if Caleb was still lurking in the corridor before heading into the bathroom to do my business and take a shower. Casey knocked on the door a moment later, telling me she had put my clothes on the bed for me. I yelled out a thank you and finished up what I was doing. Who is Caleb, and why should I remember him? I started to ask myself. He is handsome, I’ll give him that. Oh, and he smelt wonderful, but who is he really? Should I know who he is? My heart started to race and my cheeks began to burn pink as I thought about him. No boy has ever made me feel like this before, especially someone I have only just met; at least I think it’s someone I’ve only just met. I stepped out of the shower, wrapped a towel around me and walked back into the bedroom, straight into… “Are you stalking me?” I shouted, crossing my arms and tapping my foot at the same time. “I beg your pardon?” Caleb said, crossing his own arms. His eyes go almost black as he takes in my apparel. My cheeks go pink, realizing I was standing in the room with only a towel around me as I started to push Caleb out of the room. “Get out of here, Caleb” I screamed, continuing to push his arm, which didn’t budge him. The nerve of the man, starting to laugh at my embarrassment. “You’ve mistaken me for my brother. I’m Reece” the man said as I stopped and stared at him for a moment. His brother? He has to be lying. I sniff the air to take in his scent. Although his scent is still honeysuckle, there is no hint of rosemary. There’s a hint of thyme. Is there really more than one? Who are these people? “Get dressed and come downstairs. My father sent us to collect you.” His father? I have graduation today. I can’t go anyw… I stopped my thoughts and looked at Reece with sudden realization on my face. He was… He is… Holy crap, I can’t breathe… “Are you OK?” I sit down on the bed, doubling over, trying to slow down my breathing as strong arms come around me. “I… I’m… Fine” I say, trying to push my way out of his arms, without success. Tiny jolts of electricity ran through my body, relaxing me into his embrace before I realized who he was again. “Just go” I yelled, tensing up as Reece got off the bed and heads for the door without any more argument. What the hell was I doing? He is a prince and next in line to the throne. I look at the clothes sitting on the edge, the green dress I tried on last night. Somehow, I’m not as excited about wearing it anymore. My mind is running wild with the two men downstairs. Are there two men? There are three of them. Is their brother with them too? I stood up from the side of the bed and began to get ready. I’m a nothing. A nobody. I don’t even have my wolf yet. Why would they be interested in me? They’re only here to fulfill an obligation to their father. Take me back to the werewolf kingdom to attend their university. I slowly got to my feet and put on the green dress before heading to the bathroom to brush my teeth and fix my hair. I decided to leave it down for today; casually brushing the auburn strands and placing them behind my ear. Once I was done, I placed the low-heeled green shoes on my feet and headed down the stairs, stopping in my tracks as I saw, not one but three identical men waiting with Aston and Casey. “Are you ready to go?” Aston asked, giving me a small wink. What was that for? Does he know something I don’t? One of the men chuckles, and I sniff the air. It was Caleb. Could he hear my thoughts like his father? A knowing smile crept on his face. Can the others read them too? He laughs, while shaking his head. Are you answering me? He laughed again, and I wandered past the three of them. “Yes, I am ready”, I answered Aston’s question. “I’m Isaiah” the last triplet said, extending his hand to help me into Aston’s car. I took his hand, as a few more tiny jolts of electricity surged under his touch as I stepped into the car and sniffed his scent, honeysuckle with a hint of basil. He doesn’t seem as thrilled as the other two to be here. It’s like I thought, I’m nothing but an obligation to them. They need to bring me back to the werewolf kingdom. “You’ll get used to his cranky ass, isn’t that right Puff?” Caleb said with a snicker, as I looked over my shoulder at Isaiah’s seething face. Puff? Why do they call him puff? “Because he is a magic dragon”, Caleb answered me. “Will you stop answering my questions before I ask them out loud?” I snapped at him as he shook his head. “You will get used to it” Reece said with a low grumble, pushing the chair upright and sitting down next to me. “He’s the only one of us that has got this particular ability. Long story” he added as I looked between the two men cramped up in the very back. I was sitting in the middle row of seats with Reece, and Casey was sitting shotgun in the front next her… I mean our father, Aston, who was driving. “Today is going to be interesting. We’re here to stop Simeon because he will 3want to keep you here.” “Does he know you are here?” I asked, fearing what was about to happen. “He knows” Isaiah said, his face still looking as though he wasn’t happy to be here. “He’s always known about it. He just refuses to accept it. That’s why he ordered the teachers to give you extra assignments, hoping you would fail and not graduate. If you don’t graduate, you can’t leave to find your mate. Mrs Robinson knew what he was doing and made sure you were able to do the extra work. You’ll be surprised how many pack members were on your side.” Really? I thought to myself before I turned my head to glance at Caleb, who sat there, stone-faced. Fine, if you must listen; I thought it was her that didn’t want me to graduate. He shook his head, a small smile appearing on his face. We reached the front of the school and I took in a deep breath. The smell of honeysuckle relaxed me from the tension I had, knowing what was about to happen. Why is their scent so comforting to me? Caleb tensed slightly before stepping out of the car. “You know, don’t you?” I whispered to him. “You are imagining it” he answered, leaning down to whisper in my ear. I swear I heard him take in a deep breath as he did; “It’s probably because we have come to take you away. Three knights in shining armor, as they say.” That makes sense. I didn’t think anyone would take me away. Without my wolf, I couldn’t even tell if someone is my mate or not, for them to take me away. Caleb tensed again, turning to look at his brothers. A moment later, they all tense up. Was it something I thought? I thought they knew I didn’t have my wolf yet? “Umm, no, we didn’t” Caleb said, looking down at me with concern flashing in his eyes. Was there something wrong? “Let’s not think about it for the moment. Let’s wait until your graduation is over, and we can talk with Dad when we get home.” I couldn’t concentrate on what Caleb was saying, my head was spinning. “Did Simeon do something to stop me from getting a wolf?” I whispered, trying to catch my breath and failing miserably. “You read dad’s letter” Isaiah snarls, looking down his nose at me. What is this asshole’s problem? “You’re a smart girl, you figure it out.” Reece and Caleb turned to look at their brother as he stormed off through the front door of the schoolhouse. “Stick with us”, Reece said as I looked past him to where his brother had gone. I give him a small nod and the rest of us follow Isaiah into the schoolhouse.
