*ELYSIA*
Silence befell us after those words left my lips. Dorian's eyes were filled with burning rage as they bore into mine. But I couldn't care less at this point.
Because what's the point of being with a man who has never put me first? What's the point of being his companion when he treats me like filth?
Ever since Dorian saved my life that day, I have always felt the need to please him, to make him happy. For the first two months, I would try to find out his likes and dislikes from the headmaid. I learned he lost both of his parents at a very young age, and I have tried so hard to be his solace. But what about me? Don't I deserve a chance at happiness, too?
My innocence was almost stolen by someone I thought could never do such a thing. I watched my father lose his life right in front of me. And every day, the guilt of knowing my older brother died because of me haunts me. Yet, I try so hard to put on a smile so I won't burden Dorian with my own agony.
However, since it's obvious he doesn't want me. Right to the point of having s*x with another woman right under my nose, then we might as well go our separate ways. That's the best thing he could do for me in our nine months of marriage.
"What did you just say?" He demanded authoritatively after taking some seconds to register my words.
I tried so hard not to let the tears biting the back of my throat overwhelm me as I repeated. "I want a divorce."
Immediately those words left my lips for the second time, Dorian pulled his elbow from my neck and slapped me hard across my right cheek.
My skin burned from the pain but my mind was already made up.
"How dare you!" He barked like a rabid dog. " How dare you ask me for a divorce, Elysia?"
I remained in that spot without uttering another word, while the w***e he was f*****g some minutes back, scurried out of the study when she noticed the situation was becoming intense.
Dorian roughly grabbed me by my neck and then flung me across the room. My back collided against the wall and a small cry of pain left my lips as I fell face flat on the ground. "When I ask you a question, you answer me immediately!" he thundered then made his way to me.
Using my hands to crawl, I hurriedly tried to scramble away from him but he was swift on his feet as he picked me up from the ground and snarled in my face. "I saved you from a doomed fate. I married you and made you my Luna. Yet, you have the nerve to ask me for a divorce?"
At this point, tears pooled in my eyes from the pain ricocheting in my entire body but I didn't want to break in front of him. I was earnestly hoping I wouldn't cave into my emotions as I spat. "Marrying you has been the worst mistake of my life. I need an out, Dorian."
His eyes flashed with what seemed like shock but he quickly flipped his emotions with a contemptuous chuckle. "Marrying me has been the worst mistake of your life?" He repeated those words as though he was in disbelief.
I knew I wouldn't like the outcome of this, but then I had made up my mind to fight for myself. There was no way I'd sit around letting him treat me like a big pile of trash.
"Yes," I replied. "You have never made me happy since the moment I got married to you. All you do is sleep with me and then treat me with contempt, I am a being, Dorian. I have never asked for anything other than being your wi—"
Before I could complete my statement, Dorian collided his fist against the side of my mouth, causing a bloodied tooth to fall out of my mouth followed by more streams of blood.
The consuming pain traveled from my mouth to my entire body and I felt almost numb.
Tears began to stream down my cheeks as I coughed out more blood from my mouth. But Dorian was not done yet.
Seeing that my tooth fell out didn't faze him a bit. He wrapped his hand around my hair and pulled it as he roared. "I brought you into this pack, my pack! I fed you, clothed you, gave you a room to sleep and a title to your f*****g name and you have the nerve to say marrying me has been the worst mistake of your life?"
He released his grip on my hair and for a second, I was hoping he was going to let me be, but then he began to crack his knuckles. "I am going to show you what could have been your fate if I didn't save you."
My stomach twisted.
I knew he was going to kill me if I did not act fast. There was no way I could put up a fight against him. He's an Alpha, a stronger one at that.
So before he could pounce on me for the umpteenth time, I calculated my next move and dashed out of the study. But that only infuriated him more.
"Come back here, Elysia,"
With every step I took as I ran down the corridor, pain shot through my spine. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned divorce until the three months had elapsed.
Maybe I should have borne the pain I felt when he was having s*x and just returned to my room. Maybe I should have apologized when he demanded why I barged into his study without knocking. Because now, my life is in danger.
For some reason, I wasn't scared for my life but for that of the little one growing inside of me. The pup might be the product of our loveless marriage but it is still my child. My own blood.
"Elysia, I am going to kill you if you make me run after you!" Dorian's malicious voice echoed through the walls of the corridor, causing fear to consume me. Nonetheless, I did not stop.
I continued to run for my life but then I heard the sound of his footsteps fast approaching behind me. The more I sprinted, the farther the door to my room became. My muscles were wearing out and my head was spinning.
"Elysia, I said stop!" He boomed but I did not respond.
As soon as I made it to the door of my room, I opened it but just as I was about to shut it, he placed his arm in between, refraining me from doing so.
He pushed the door open with full force, prompting me to fall from the impact.
My chest heaved.
I didn't want to, but I found myself begging. "Pl-ease, please don't hurt me more than you already have."
Dorian towered above me, holding a belt in one hand and a scornful look on his face. "You should have thought about that before getting on my nerves."
And that was the last thing he said just before he began to whip me with the belt. As the heavy lash of the leather hit my skin, I screamed in profound pain, agony, and tears.
Any attempt I made to stand, he would forcefully kick my feet, propelling me back to the ground.
The pain was too much for me to bear. My screams of anguish echoed through the walls and I knew everyone could hear me but no one was coming to save me. They all feared him including the Elders.
"You do not get to discard me, Elysia!" He barked as he continued to whip me mercilessly. "I am the one that has the final say. I get to say when I'm done with your lowly ass!"
"Please stop!" I wept bitterly, trying as much to protect my stomach from his assault with my hands. "Dorian, please stop."
"Shut the f**k up!" He seethed amid his assault. "From this moment onward, I'm going to teach you what respect means, you ungrateful little b***h!"
More tears cascaded down my cheeks. I knew I could not stay there and let him on, so with the last ounce of energy I had left, I forced myself to stand and tried to scoot for the door, but he kicked me so hard on my stomach, prompting an agonizing scream to leave my lips.
My whole world stood still.
I could swear I lost my sense of self momentarily and soon warm moisture began to cascade between my thighs.
With my heart pounding hard against my chest, I looked down to see blood forming a puddle just at the base of my feet. My face flushed with terror knowing what that meant.
Dorian soon stopped hitting me at the sight of my blood. He dropped the belt on the ground but the pain he inflicted on me, stayed.
"L-ook at w-what you've done to me," I said amidst tears, and then my knees buckled.
Unable to process the pain, my head began to spin. I felt every muscle in my body weaken as I crashed to the ground and succumbed to the darkness.
