The drive seemed to take forever in reality it took less time via the cars than it did running, especially with Meg as her wolf couldn't run as fast as Ellie's wolf Danni yet.
As the car turned into the long winding driveway, smoke could be seen above the trees, with horror she realised it was too much smoke! It had to be multiple houses on fire.
Gammar John could feel his mates heart racing and the fear in her emitted through him. He leaned a little closer to Ellie not wanting to make her uncomfortable as they hadn't even talked yet about their mate bond. At the same time, he leaned his shoulder closer to hers she did the same and was thinking how much calmer she could be in his arms right now and for this nightmare to be over.
As the cars turned into the clearing the sight was fearsome. Ellie's whole body ran cold, she felt like her heart was stopping. Her beloved home was burning to the ground. She jumped out of the car and ran to the nearest body that lay in front of the house. It was one of her best friends Tina and her mate Harry. She started trying to link everyone she knew; nobody was answering her. She ran to the flamed door of the house, but was held back by arms around her waist.
"I'm so sorry Ellie, you can't go in there! It's going to fall down! It's too dangerous!" Gammar John was holding her trying to stop her, but she was strong and a fighter which he didn't expect. Elbowing him in his gut and taking advantage of the shock she managed to push him off her.
She ran at the door kicking her way through and into her childhood home, there was no sounds of people crying for help, just the roaring of flames. She couldn't see much as the smoke so thick, she couldn't even make out the stairs which came down the centre of the hallway. A loud creaking noise broke above her and she could see the ceilings coming down. Again, arms came around her, this time much tighter, lifting her up over a shoulder and running back out of the collapsing house.
Alpha Charles watched intensely as Gammar John dove out of the collapsing building carrying his newly found mate over his shoulder. With relief Charles ran forward to them and checked they were ok. As he did Ellie was wriggling and hitting John's back screaming at him to put her down.
"Ellie! Please!" John pleaded.
"My family are in there! I need to find them!" she was screaming "Put me down right now!"
"Ellie, we need to check everywhere and you are the best to guide us on where to look, the pack house can't be saved anyone who is in there has perished! I'm sorry Ellie! Please we need you to help us search for any survivors!" John cupped Ellie's face in his, the mate bond calming her slightly.
"I...I..the back, there's a large circle of flowers and a bench in the middle it's one of the doors to the safe house under here!" She cried out pointing to the burning pack house as she led them running around back.
The rear garden was a mess All the table sand chairs for their evening gatherings were thrown against the house including the very bench she was talking about, now burning and blocking the rear door. Ellie ran to a circle off to the side of the garden, all its flowers crushed from being trod over. She knelt down and swiftly moved the flowers to make a clearing. Scraping away a thin layer of soil she lifted a piece of rope. It was small and short but thick and strong, as she lifted it a door came up and she pushed it fully open as it slammed on the floor beyond her. Jumping down into the hole that was now in the centre of the flower bed she disappeared, Gammar John and 2 warriors right behind her.
They ran along a tunnel, feeling the way in the dark, John bumped straight into Ellie as she stopped suddenly. He could see a small light in the centre of the darkness, Ellie was pushing against something, slowly light began to fill the tunnel.
John put his hand on Ellie's shoulder to try to get past her he wanted to put himself in front of her in case a threat was inside. Ellie ignored him and pushed a little more on the door to get through and enter the room. He noticed three people in there, an elderly woman and man and a small girl who had cook clothing on. The elderly woman gasped and cried out for Ellie when she saw her and handed her something.
"Thank you nanny, thank you!" John noticed now that the elderly woman had passed Ellie a baby wrapped in blankets. 'A baby?' Sam said jealously 'surely not our mates?'.
"Gammar John and these men will help you all out of here, they have cars waiting and you will be guarded whilst we check the rest of the property. Do you know where anyone else is?" Ellie asked the elderly woman as she kissed the sleeping baby on the forehead and handed her back once the woman was on her feet.
"Luna ran to us as we were having a break together and gave me Tyler, she told us to get to the safe room and lock it. She said there was no time for anyone else to get in!" the woman replied urgently "She told us they had managed to get far in and were close to the house! We pleaded with her to come with us, she said she had to get the other children from your Grandpa Oscar's."
"Thank you! I will head there to check on them now, he has his own safe room. I'm sure they are fine nanny." She added as the nanny begun crying at the thought of the other children.
