Chapter 8

Kelly's P.O.V

" What was I thinking?!" As Glynn drove us down the interstate. I barely knew this guy after 48 hours and I was driving with him to Dallas to God knows where. I could feel mysekf starting to hyperventilate and I kept touching my face. " Are you okay?"He asked as I shook my head no and he pulled over to the nearest exit. I got out and threw up in the side of the road. Glynn got out and was rubbing my back when I finally stopped dry heaving. He passed me a bottle of water and took a few sips. " I can't do this" I said as Glynn looked at me worried. " What's wrong?" I started laughing, " Any person in their right mind would not get in a car with someone they barely know and just leave to go live in another city" I said as the cars and trucks on the interstate kept buzzing by.

Glynn just looked at me and shook his head, " How about we go get some coffee and talk.about how all this is going to play out. If you don't like it, then you can drop me off at home and go back to Mac's." He said with his arms crossed. He looked mad but concerned at the same time. " Okay fine" I said as I hopped back into the Jeep. Glynn got back in and drove us to the nearest Starbucks and we got out and ordered. We sat down across from each other, still not saying anything till our coffee arrived. I looked at him, noticing the deep blue eyes that looked into my soul and his smile that rivaled any hollywood man. He was scrolling through his phone as I watched him. " Done looking yet?" He smirked up at me . " Naw, I've seen better" I retorted as I sipped my latte. " Haha, good one" he said as he pulled up something on his phone and showed it to me. " So look at this condo and tell me what you think?" As he handed me his phone, it was a newly built condo in a nice part of Dallas and was very modern and chic. " It's nice, why?" " Well it's just been finished and I contacted my realtor to get a showing, even though my company built it. If you like it, it's your's to live in " he said as he took a sip of his coffee.

" What's the catch?" I looked at him warily. " You sign a contract stating your going to work for my company as a CPA and this will be one of the perks....among other things" he said as I just looked at him in shock. I didn't know what to do, to be honest. I had to call someone, and the only one I could think of was Mac. " Will you excuse me for a minute?" As I got up and went outside and called Mac,

"Hello?" He answered " hey it's me" I replied. " Are you okay, did the city boy hurt you?" " No I'm fine , just need some advice" I proceeded to explain the proposal that Glynn gave me and Mac was silent. Once I was done, he said " Kel, this is your chance. I know your scared but this is the opportunity you've been waiting for. If it's a true legal document and proposal then go for it. I want you to succeed " he said as I felt tears coming to my eyes. " Thanks Mac"

" Your welcome Kid and remember I'm here for you" he said as we hung up. I leaned my head against the window of the coffee shop and looked at what my future could be.

Glynn's P.O.V.

As I watched her walk away, I knew she was conflicted and unsure but I didn't know how else to prove it to her. I watched as she was on the phone and I couldn't help this ache I had from the pit of my stomach. I wanted her and I don't know where it all came from but it was an attraction I couldn't fight. She looked upset but I was going to wait till she came back in to see what her decision was. She walked in and sat down and I could see she had been crying. " You okay?" I said quietly and she nodded yes. " I've made my decision " she said and I felt my heart leap into my chest. " I'll do it. But on my terms, If I feel uncomfortable or unsafe in anyway, I'm out." She said firmly. " Of course, but I don't think that's going to happen" as I felt myself smile at her. I showed her the contract on my phone and let her read it.

Once she finished, she looked at me and said, " I don't have any money for fancy clothes or furniture " as tears fell from her big beautiful eyes and I grabbed her hand, " Kelly I already told you that I would buy your clothes, let me take care of you darling" I said as she nodded and then smiled at me. " If that settles it, I think we have some shopping to get done" I winked at her and she laughed. I helped her up and she tripped and fell into my arms. We stood staring at each other for a moment and I couldn't resist kissing her. I gently touched her lips and she responded with brushing her's against mine. It was a sweet kiss, but it got me going in other places. " Come on" as I grabbed her free hand and we walked out to the Jeep. As we started going back towards Dallas, Kelly looked over at me and said, " So if I'm to become your employee, you do realize we can't be kissing and such" she smirked. " And such? Why Miss Miller, are you implying you want to do more than just kiss me?" I said teasing her. She laughed, " No I guess not. Nevermind, forget I mentioned it." I grabbed her hand from across the seat, "Oh believe me, I'm never going to forget it or let you down from that one" as I kissed her hand and she just looked at me. " What are you saying?" She asked. " I'm saying we will figure all this out as we go, but no one is going to know except us okay?" I told her. She pulled her hand away from me, " and why not? So all your other woman will get a taste of you as well, forget it. I will not be a secret for your Mr. Worthington. " she said as she crossed her arms. Man she sure is something else.

" No that's not the reason" as I grabbed her hand back. " It's because I have a rule against dating any of my employees and since I just hired you, it goes against my code of ethics." I smiled at her and she just glared at me but never let my hand go. " So your offer still stands, I can leave at anytime and take your jeep if I feel any bit uncomfortable?" She smirked at me as I caresssed the top of her hand with my thumb. " Yes, of course" I replied as we both stared at each other for a moment. " Okay then, you have a deal" she said as she smiled at me and I felt like I had just won the lottery.
