Oppression And Tension

The whole day, all Jade did with the old woman was play games and then two hours to her closing time she forced Madam CJ to have her daily routine of test. But not without a very solid "persuasion". She sneaked a candy for the old woman when no one was looking. Not knowing the kind of deal they had, the servants and butler kept wondering why Madam CJ was so cooperative with this nurse.

She was never like that with her doctors and nurse in the hospital and the first time when Ryan got a nurse for her, she was sent away that same day after being accused by the old madam of poking her with needles. Ryan might not seem like it but he cherishes his grandma a lot. So, he didn't think twice before letting the nurse go. But with Jade, the old woman was always excited when she was around. And this got everyone curious.

As soon as Jade stepped out of the Old woman's room and closed the door a helpless smile was still visible on her face. She shook her head and turned to leave when she was startled by the grinning butler "Ah!..... Mr. Butler....it's you...you scared me standing there without making a sound" He smiled even further "Sorry for startling you Miss Becker, I didn't take you as a faint hearted person but i know better now". He said with conviction as he assessed her reaction.

Jade scoffed softly and retorted angrily, "Do you go around doing that to people or.you just don't like me.for some reason and you're hoping I drop dead..... sir?" She had known since the first time she came here that the butler was not keen on her but openly bullying her like this was unacceptable. The butler smile deepened but he didn't reply her, he gestured for her to walk with him and Jade raised her brow in question "You want me to come with you? "

He shook his head and emphasized "I NEED you to come with me, the young master asked for your presence in his study" as soon as she heard thee word "young master" Jade heartbeat increased in folds, did he caught her passing candy to his grandma or did someone spy on her and tell him "Mr Black wants to see me?.....w....why? Did I do something wrong?" She said while trying to stable her voice.

The butler looked at her still with that annoying smile that has been practiced for many years at least. "I wouldn't know if you need something wrong, I'm just following instructions Miss Becker......now if you will come with me. We wouldn't want to keep the young master waiting now, would we" he sad urging her to move faster. Jade gulped down saliva as she stood before his study while the butler knocked.

Soon enough, there was a low reply and the butler pushed open the door. Jade heart was in her mouth by then, Jade couldn't believe she was this scared he wouldn't do more than firing her if it was because of the candy but why was her heart beating so fast at the thought of him? She willed her leg to move a d seconds later she was standing before him and the butler had left too, so they were alone now. His head was still lowered immersed in the paperwork he was doing and so giving Jade a chance to access him again.

She studied him for a while and her eyes remain glued to the beautiful painting he looked like and a smile appeared on her lips. She was still wearing this expression when Ryan's rock hard face came looked at her, he definitely felt her gaze as she stared at him through out the time his head was bowed. His frown deepened when he saw her shake her head and turn red from embarrassment of being caught staring.

"Are you a fool?" He suddenly asked out of no where making Jade snap out of her imagination and blinked trying to understand heat he meant by that. Still waiting for him to complete the sentence but it never came, instead there was a long pause before he spoke up again, this time with less anger in his voice "how is grandma's health" he asked and immediately Jade became rigid, her heartbeat increased again but this time she was certain it was fear.
