Lucia breathed heavily, she was so nervous that she even felt her chest begin to constrict. The place where they were right now might be very open and wide, but because there were Sam and Alexander, who were now glaring at each other in front of her, it made Lucia feel that they were currently in a very stuffy box.
Alexander invited her and Sam to have lunch together. Not an ordinary lunch, but this was Alexander's way of showing Sam, who he was to Lucia. He deliberately took them to an expensive restaurant to show his status as a rich man, while Sam, the man, was too indifferent to understand Alexander's intentions. His goal this time was to find out the truth about Russia who already had a girlfriend because, to him, all of this still seemed odd—he thought.
A waiter takes notes on what menus they order—no! More precisely, the menu that Alexander ordered because the man deliberately ordered the most expensive menu to let his opponent know his position.
"Are there any other menus, sir?" asked the waiter.
Alexander shook his head slowly. "I don't have to, but it looks like my lover wants to order something," he said, with full emphasis on the sentence 'My lover', as if he was awakening Sam, who had only focused on his lover—Lucia. "Honey, would you like to order another menu?" he asked Lucia, who had been silent since arriving and watching.
The woman nodded slowly. “A-ah… don't worry, what you ordered just now is more than enough—”
“Why are you still speaking formally like that even when we're outside the company? Come on... your best friend will think we have a problem,” he complained as he rolled his eyes at Lucia.
“A-ah… sorry, I'm used to doing that since we're currently boss and subordinate.”
“I see, you just need to be careful in the future. I'm just worried if someone misunderstands our relationship. Isn't that right, Mr. Sam?" he asked, glancing at Sam, who had been silent all this time.
The man sighed heavily, the jealousy in his chest making him almost lose control of himself. However, he still tried to stay calm, watching them and looking for loopholes that might become obvious later, denying Lucia's confession about her lover.
"Yes," he answered simply.
"Would you like to order something?"
Sam shook his head slowly. "No, Mr Alex, thank you."
The maid walked away, leaving the three of them feeling awkward. To break the silence, Lucia got up from her spot. It took her a moment to breathe, at least until she felt much better. "I need to go to the toilet first," she said.
However, before she could leave, Alexander restrained himself by pulling her arm. "Want me to accompany you, honey?"
It was ridiculous to hear that man's sweet words. Lucia even shuddered at the change in his demeanor which was so different from the usual Alexander. “A-ah… no need, Master—”
"Dear. Call me honey, are you so embarrassed that we are currently with your best friend?”
Lucia swallowed her dry saliva, she then turned to Sam who was watching them. “S-sorry, honey… I'm so embarrassed, really.”
"Do you want me to take you?" asked Alexander, changing the subject.
He looked at Lucia sharply, he hoped she would stop being so rigid, especially now that there was a man who she suspected of liking her lover. Lucia was his lover, he would never allow his own to be disturbed by another man—he thought.
"I won't be long, honey—"
"Are you going to go into the women's restroom too?" sneered at Sam, who was getting annoyed.
Alexander smiled sarcastically. "Why not? I will do whatever it takes to protect what's mine, especially when it comes to my lover."
Sam took a deep breath. “You seem very possessive, even though Lucia is a free-spirited woman. I didn't think that you two could match each other."
"Of course, we even get along on other things, especially the bed."
Hearing that, Lucia was very embarrassed. Her face was flushed with embarrassment, but Alexander didn't seem to care about his objection. "Alex, this is too much—"
"Why? I'm just explaining to your best friend that he doesn't have to worry about looking at me suspiciously, you're under the care and protection of the right people, especially since we're lovers.”
"But this is too much—" Lucia's words were cut off when suddenly Sam rose from his seat and pulled her into his arms. “Sam—” his words stopped again when Alexander didn't want to lose, he pulled Lucia into his arms, but Sam also fought back.
Now their position seemed to be a tug of war and Lucia became the object they were fighting for.
"Get your hands off my lover!" snapped Alexander.
"I'm sick of you guys pretending. Lucia, if you approach him because of threats or something, just tell me. Do you think I'm stupid? I can see that you're scared when you're with him!" snapped Sam.
Lucia glanced at Alexander. The man was very upset at the moment. If this continues, things will only get worse and Sam could become the target of the madman's wrath—she thought.
"Sam, I think you misunderstood—"
"Please stop pretending, Lucia. There should be, if you really don't like me, there's no need to lie to yourself." He looked at Alexander sharply. "You think I'll just sit back and watch this rude and arrogant man by your side?"
The irritated Alexander was already preparing to hit, but Lucia quickly held him back.
"Get out of my way!"
Lucia shook her head slowly. "Not!"
Alexander is getting more and more annoyed because he thinks that his lover is protecting Sam from him. He couldn't tolerate any of this, Lucia was only his and he shouldn't even think about anyone other than him--he thought.
"How dare you—" he stopped when suddenly she kissed his lips.
The woman slowly broke the kiss. She hoped this was enough to make Sam believe that she and Alexander were indeed a couple. And for Alexander, she hoped that one kiss on the lips would be enough to calm his anger.
Unexpectedly, Alexander pulled her back into her arms, then showered Lucia with tender kisses and it was all sweet to her.
She forgot that now there was Sam staring at the scene with a feeling of pain and so suffocating. He walks away, leaving Lucia and Alexander making out. He hoped this was all just a dream. Yes… it was all just a dream–he thought.
