1 year later...
In a small town, a woman is crying over a meal bearing the name of her loved one--Samantha.
Yes ... finally, after undergoing treatment for several months, the woman breathed her last this morning, leaving Lucia who finally had to give up because her struggle had ended with the results she did not want.
Tired, sad, disappointed in one. For the sake of her grandmother, she was willing to ignore herself and only focus on treating the woman who had a stroke after awakening from the events of that day.
Now, she must be willing to let go of her departure, reorganize her heart and start everything alone, without anyone by her side. Lucia must endure this difficult life alone.
She placed a simple bouquet of flowers that she had bought earlier on the side of the tombstone, then she read a prayer for her grandmother in the hope that the woman's spirit would be accepted by God.
"My condolences, Miss Lucia," said one of the mourners and the owner of the house she now lives in.
"Thank you, Mrs Gwen. I'm sorry my grandmother had anything wrong with you in her life."
"No ... how can that be? You guys are good people, so there's no such thing."
"I'm just worried, madam. Moreover, we have often troubled you all this time.”
“Don't hesitate, Miss Lucia. Then, I'll go first, there's work I can't leave."
"Very well, Mrs Gwen."
The woman walked away, leaving Lucia, who still felt at home for a long time sitting pensively while rubbing her grandmother's tombstone. 1 year is not a short time. She devoted all her time to Samantha's healing, but now that woman has gone to God.
Now she had to get back to fighting for herself, at least before her savings were enough to last her for some time. Mrs. Gween could have given her some relief, but Lucia wasn't the type to depend on others, she didn't want to burden anyone.
After having had enough contemplation, she got back up and prepared to leave. Lucia didn't want to disappoint Samantha again, it was enough for her to torture herself all this time. Finding a job is her priority at this time, a happy and well-off life is her goal that she wants to achieve.
She opened the door to her house, then closed it slowly for fear that one day the door would fall again. In that small room, she felt very empty and lonely, even though this morning she could still see her grandmother's smile, even though it was her last smile.
She sat on the edge of the shabby sofa that Mrs. Gwen had borrowed it, and sobbed as she hugged the picture frame of her grandmother who was resting peacefully by God's side.
"Grandma ... stay with me ... by my side," she whispered until finally the cry was getting louder and louder, making anyone who heard it feel sad.
In the same city, a proud man was staring intently at some of his men. His eyes widened even more when he saw the financial statements in his hands. He didn't think that one of his branch companies had such a serious condition, the corruption committed by one of the higher-ups there cost him a lot of money.
He glanced back at several of his subordinates, one of whom was the most influential person in corruption in his branch of the company. "You will repay as much as even more than what you took from me," his hiss made them all tremble in fear. Suddenly, he threw a fist at the man, making him fall down while holding back a pain in his stomach. "Drag them all and give them to Inspector Julius, tell him I'm leaving them to him."
Hearing that, his men immediately kneeled right in front of Alexander, begging for forgiveness because they knew what would happen to them after all this. However, Alexander, who was already feeling disappointed, of course, wouldn't spare them that easily.
He sat back down on a sofa at the far end of the room, enjoying the clear sky outside while sipping his tea. He'd been so busy fighting William at the Galloway-owned company, that he didn't have much time to oversee his own company until something like this happened.
1 year passed and he had just spent that boring time working tirelessly. In addition to working at the Galloway company, he also started to build his own company, and now has 2 branches in several cities, including the city where Lucia currently lives.
"You've worked really hard, Bro," said John, who had just been watching him.
“Give me the report the 2nd division gave me.”
"Aren't you tired, Lex? You've been working for over 18 hours today. Take a break."
"Don't just talk, quickly give me what I want!"
John took a deep breath. "Okay." The man checked some of the files he had brought, then gave Alexander what he wanted. "This."
Alexander grabbed the object, then re-examined it carefully, while Jhon could only sigh again when he saw how his best friend had been very workaholic for the past 1 year. Alexander is indeed a diligent and hard worker, but his attitude has now turned into a true workaholic obsession.
A man who is already busy working in his family's company can still lead his own company and that is very crazy according to him. He was the only assistant until he was tired of following Alexander's busy schedule.
“Human Resources Development orders us to immediately open job vacancies, we cannot leave these sections blank. For the time being, who will be leading the way here is completely stable.”
Hearing that, of course, John objected. "Are you crazy, Lex? The battle between you and William is still heating up over there. How come you left the Galloway company?”
Alexander glared at his best friend. "I didn't say I was leaving the battlefield, John."
"Then what are you planning?"
“You… go back there and replace me for a while.”
Again, it was John who had to accept the consequences. It sounded like he had to work harder. "Damn it! You really want to kill me, huh?!”
"$100,000, how?"
Hearing that, suddenly John was excited. “Ah, of course, then I'll be right back there. But, how about you here, Lex?”
"Find a new secretary."
"Okay. Then I will go to the HR department to tell him what vacancies he has to prepare.”
"Yes."
After Jhon left, the room felt very empty and only the sound of his breathing could be heard. Alexander sighed heavily, his life was now completely empty ... to the point that he felt there was nothing else he could do but work.
Suddenly, it came back to his mind about the woman named Lucia who had disappeared like the earth had swallowed him. "Because of you I can't even enjoy other girls," he hissed. “Actually... what am I lacking that you ran away after doing it with me?"
