CHAPTER 8

1167 Words
The woman sighed heavily, this was the third rejection today. She's been to several companies, but they turned her down before she even managed to apply for a job with them. Today she thought luck was coming her way. Three work interview calls made her wish one of them had accepted her for work. It didn't matter to her to work like anything, even if they asked her to work as a janitor. “Actually, I really appreciate your intention to work with our company, but your education and work experience are very good for the position we need. We will call you back if there is the right Job Desk for you.” Those were the words they said to her when they read her job application letter. It sounded like a compliment to her experience, but basically the same thing, those words were just an excuse to turn her down. "Damn it!" she shouted in frustration as she chewed on the noodles she bought at a roadside stall. It is this cheap food that is now her daily food to save her monthly expenses. Although sometimes she starts to feel bored and her digestion often has problems, she still eats it with gratitude. At least until now she can still eat and sleep comfortably. After paying for her meal, Lucia quickly returned to walking through the large buildings that surrounded this small town. She hopes there will be a company that can accept her as part of the workers there. From a distance, she saw a crowd in a large building. She was curious and then went to the building to see what was going on. Her eyes filled with tears when she saw a banner installed there which explained that the company needed several workers to fill the vacancy there and one of them was in accordance with her past experience. She walked over to a security guard. “Master, is the vacancy still available?” The man looked at his computer screen. “You are lucky, there is still 1 left. Please stand in line.” Lucia felt that this was her luck today. She hopes that someday her luck will make her one of the employees accepted by the company. "Thank you sir." She returned to the long line. After that, she saw some people coming, but all too late, they had to return disappointed. She felt de javu at a sight like this. Precisely when she first came to town and applied for the job where she used to work. Of course, Rudolf didn't feel it because he was the one who recommended her at that time. Looking back on all that, apart from being angry at Rudolf, she was also angry at herself for being so stupid. They waited long enough, to get rid of boredom, they talked to each other and boasted to each other. Not all of them. One of them was Lucia, who chose to remain silent because she felt inferior to her modest appearance. She was only wearing old clothes, even those that might not be too fit to wear because the color was a little dull. In her heart, she continues to have a dialogue with herself who provides support so as not to be easily intimidated. One by one, people were called into the room, but it didn't take them long to come out with gloomy faces. Only some of them looked happy, maybe they got the job— Lucia thought. Before the interview was over, the security guard announced something that made her a little nervous. “Because now it's time to go home from work, so the interview will be held tomorrow. Please enter your job application letter, we will contact you at the interview tonight, "he said. Hearing that, Lucia's confidence wavered slightly. She was worried that her luck would only end here, seeing that there were only a few available vacancies, while there were so many job applicants. The officer took one by one their job applications, including the girl's. After that, they all went home feeling restless. Of course that's how Lucia felt right now. She walked with a feeling of restlessness, hoping that this time God would be kind to him who was in trouble. Meanwhile, at the company, Alexander Galloway, the leader who directly interviewed the prospective workers, was snorting in annoyance. The reason is, the position that he really needs, he has not yet got. There is only 1 vacancy left and that is the secretary to replace Jhon as long as he supervises his company's subordinates. It's not that no one is interested, it's just that most of them are women and they show a disgustingly seductive side. "Of the many applications that have come in, is there not one that suits you?" ask his men . "Nothing," he insisted. "I need a secretary, not a woman's arms. They look disgusting, wear clothes that are too revealing, show excessive curves and it really bothers me. Are there any other applicants?” "There are several people, but since it's time to go home from work, the interview will continue tomorrow, sir." "Give them their job application letter, I'll check it myself." "Yes sir." The man left, went to get all the job applications that had been collected earlier. Not wanting to make his boss wait long, he returned with what Alexander wanted. "Here, sir." "Just keep it on the table." The man massaged his sore forehead. “Please prepare some hot tea and some snacks.” "Yes sir-" "Medicine for headache. Bring that too." "Yes sir." The man walked away, leaving Alexander, who was still busy with the pile of files he was checking one by one. He read all the job applications carefully. Of the many job application letters, there was one application that stole his attention. Not because of his experience or education, but because of the photo of the applicant that feels familiar. He immediately opened the file and read it carefully, his smile widening when he read the name written on it. "Finally I got you," he muttered. Far away, Lucia, who was standing right in front of her grandmother's grave, was staring at the mound with a feeling that was hard to explain. Instead of rushing home, she chose to stop by the cemetery to visit Samantha's grave. "Grandma... pray for me to get this job," she said as she put down a flower she bought at a flower shop before going there. "Lucy go first." Just as she was about to get up, her cell phone suddenly rang. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw a strange number calling her right now. With hope, she quickly answered the call immediately. “Hello… Ah, right, I'm Lucia Lanster. Yes… well, thank you.” When the call was cut off, Lucia immediately pranced with joy, and then she hugged Samantha's tombstone tightly. Finally, luck wasn't over for today—she thought.
