"If you lose this fight, I am going to chop one of your hands off!" His harsh words echoed through her ears over and over again.
He was this giant person that was in charge of training the royals. This huge person who was known to show no mercy despite your living status, whether you had a bad day or not, he still didn't flinch to share in your story.
Since she was young, her and her cousin had nicknamed him, Mr Monster because thats what he was to them, mostly to her, Rey and he had made sure she was afraid of him and that she put that fear into action when she was training for a very very long time until she had finally won.
"Your mind seems to be very far," Ellen exclaimed walking towards Rey right outside where she sat on a wooden bench.
"Am good." Rey forced a smile watching Ellen sit beside her.
"We may not be of the same species, but I know something is bothering you." Ellen stated.
"I guess you are right." Rey admitted.
"Is it about tomorrow?" Ellen asked.
"Yes," Rey nodded her head.
"I am not known to show mercy, I never have when it comes to fight, maybe the hard training I went through made me a soulless person." She added.
"You possibly don't mean that, how bad was that training or yout first fight?"
"The kind of person who you nickname a monster is someone who is your worst nightmare, that is the kind of person who took me through training for ten years and if I ever thought about losing, he would threaten to chop one of my hands off." She explained and Ellen gasped shocked.
"What? But I thought you are a Princess, weren't you protected from such treatment?" Ellen raised an eyebrow at her.
"No," Rey shook her head.
"Princess or not, I was preparing to earn that name, for my future as queen, a queen who would go to extreme measures to save her kingdom, one who would not even given a chance think about losing a fight." She said to her.
"So what happened?" Ellen asked, she felt that it was not just about training or anything to do with who she was, there was something else bothering her and the duel with Halsey was adding to that.
"I didn't know who I was going to fight so that I could finally become a royal head guardian, I had practically begged my mother to tell me for an entire month even though I knew that it was going to be someone who was better than me and she didn't even give me a hint that was until I was on the field and I saw him, my trainer, the monster I had despised my entire life." Rey explained.
"What did you do?"
"I fought, I tried to not harm him he was old but that didn't stop him from breaking one of the hands he so much wished to chop off and before I could heal, it dawned on me what I was earning, what I had worked for, how precious that time was."
"So what did you do?" Ellen asked concerned.
"It was either him or me." Rey said simply. "And it had to be him and when he was breathing his last, he told me that I had earned it, that at last my home was safe because I would always be there to protect it, that, that was his main objective to see me become who I was meant to be." She added a slight smile on her face.
"So losing to you has never been an option?"
"No." She shook her head.
"Hopefully tomorrow things will work out." Ellen said then she stood up stared briefly at Rey and then she was gone taken a different route from the house because earlier that day she had been summoned as one of the council members in her community when there were any events the following day she was always expected to be among the others.
Rey sat outside until evening came, she enjoyed the air, it was much nicer than the one inside the house.
She had in a way tried to freshen up and try a plate of toast that Haley had made that morning but her body couldn't recognize the foreign foods, she had given up on that and forced herself to hydrate the same water that she had pointed out that it tasted like it had sand in it.
Checking her watch she exhaled, Vee was not on and she wanted to respect some alone time Vee choose to have but she still wanted someone to talk to she opened her mouth to speak but stopped when she heard a loud bang from the house, hurriedly she stood up and walked inside being alert of any intruder but it was just Haley who lay on the sofa shaking.
"Are you okay." Rey knelt checking temperature.
"Haley talk to me." She said to her seeing how much she was sweating.
"P-h-one, c-call E-E-Eli f-fast." She just stammered and quickly Rey picked the phone on top of the table looked thought the phone book and finally made the call, she had just said a few words to him about Haley and in less than five minutes he had walked in followed by Halsey and Ellen. Rey watched as each of the run from to the kitchen come with candy and some soft drink and then upstairs with a medical kit and all she could understand was that Haley's sugar level had gone way up.
"I am going to have to call Dad, her sugar won't go down." Halsey said searching for her phone after injecting her sister with one dosage.
As Ellen and Eli looked up to face her, Rey saw how much they were panicking, maybe that was the first time something like that had happened but they were not being any solution to the problem with Haley, she knew there was something she could do but she was afraid, when she had tried to do that once she had almost lost her life because even though it was customary for any Octus Nova person to pocess peacefull thoughts to pass them from one person to another some were not very good at using them like herself and Halsey and Eli being present was not a good option either but the state that Haley was in was too much to evade, she felt her pain and she knew was going to have to take it away.
"Maintain silence all of you." She spoke in that ordely tone she commanded people with and they did, kept quite for a minute.
"Eli help Halsey sit her up."
"My sister is sick an-" Halsey shot her those angry eyes she had.
"Do what she says." Ellen begged and while they did Rey walked to her, and held out her hands, cupping her face while she tried to maintain eye conatact with her.
"Haley, I want you to look at me, focus at the direction of my eyes." Rey said to her and she breathed, forced the air to pass through them in a speed that she knew was safe for the human person not that she learnt that but because using full force could have had lasting effects.
"It's alright, everything is fine." She soothed her once she saw her begin to relax.
"You are okay now." She said and she helped her lay down once she closed her eyes she tunerd back to the ones who were awaiting for an explanation which for a fact she wasn't giving, so they, Eli and Halsey stared at her for a while then they walked out.
"I didn't know you can heal someone." Ellen said to her.
"I can't." Rey said softly.
"All I did was calm her down, using her own air. What does she have?"
"She is diabetic, she must have really been stressed out."
"Alright." Rey sighed then she walked out too leaving Ellen alone with Haley, she wanted some alone time herself and only the outside air could provide that and thats where she choose to stay the entire night and once dawn struck she picked out her sword and stared at it briefly the engravement A.R.V embroided on it, the initials of her three names. What was going to happen that day was all upto her she knew that and as she felt the sudden urge to go through it all, to punish them for all they had done wrong, to mark her name among the human people they still fell for the little compassion she had been shown by two of their people and yet none of them deserved it as far as she was concerned.
