New Beginnings
I look forward to where we are going anywhere different is a good thing. Nothing could be worse than the City. The apartment was so overcrowded I actually had to share my space with her...Agatha. She has the walk in closet all to herself and the second bathroom. I remember constantly asking her permission to come and go from our shared bedroom even the bathroom, I needed permission to use that too. b***h. Oh, how I wish I could muster the courage to scream that word at her face but, I know I wouldn't dare harm the golden girl. Sandy is checking her lipstick in the mirror as we drive I don't think she's admired the scenery even once, no just smacking those big artificial lips. Father looks happy he is going back to his old stomping grounds after all I can't wait to explore the places that shaped my father. He really is a good man deep down. It's her the lips... that's what has his head all messed up. I can picture it now a beautiful home dusty and in need of some TLC but hey it's a home right. I can't wait to breathe in the Ocean air and watch the misty sunrises and sunsets just how my father described them to me. I hear a stark voice interrupting my day dream. "Quit lollygagging already! Space Child, you are so much like your father no wonder we are moving to a rubbish hand me down house, we could have stayed had your father taken that promotion but nooo" Oh God, The lips are talking and she's on one again as usual. Agatha is grimacing at her phone at the moment " No reception Yay" she says. Although the lips were harsh she isn't wrong about father, he's zoning out at this very moment as I'm being insulted he's staring out the window eyes glazed over. I guess I can't really blame him at this point. The freeway bends and curves closer along the seaside and I can see the river we have been following opening up and flowing into the beautiful Ocean. I can't believe this is my new home I guess every dog really does have their day, not even the misery team can bring me down especially the loud one in the front seat, oh Gawd she's plucking those poor brows off completely, they look like a row of single hairs across her forehead. Poor Dad, so much for a new Mom. I think Evil b***h is more fitting. the trees are so tall here and thick they are welcoming us into town. Father's eyes gaze over to the sign "Brookings" the sign reads. "We're here" he says while cracking a warm faint smile. It's dark outside but, I can make out what looks like a few buildings and now a couple more each one more unique than the next they all have an antique store vibe but, the signs read things like post office and Golden Dragon restaurant. I can't wait to go to them all. suddenly Agatha shouts "I've got service!" she says as she looks out the window "looks interesting.." I'm not sure if she likes it I can never tell because she's always in the same mood it seems. We begin to go up a steep hill There are a lot of hills here each one has so many trees and plants like a little jungle. I just expected there to be a lot of Sand and open space like a vacation beach, but this was much more beautiful. As we make our way up the steep hill I notice the homes look a little older on this side of town. We make our way to the very top of the hill and I can't believe my eyes it's "A total disaster!" my Step mother shouts. Father just parks the car and sighs he is smiling still faintly eyes falling over the steering wheel "We have arrived" he says. Agatha's phone is going off with a new notification every second I don't even think she knows we are here. I step out of the car to make myself useful and get the bags. The mailbox is withered it has my last name on it and warms my soul as I admire it. the Steps are wooden and crooked. The front porch is enclosed and I just know I can hang a flower pot in it if I ask Sandy on a good day. I wish my Grandmother was still inside the house waiting to greet us but, I can't help but feel like she really is in it. Her presence is with me as if I can hear her whispering to my father and I welcome home.
