I walked onto the plane with my shoulder bag over my shoulder.
It was pretty crowded.
I didn't know where Mr. Adams was. I hoped I wouldn't see him until now at work in Paris.
Before that, I really didn't want to meet him.
I had also booked economy class for us. I'm sure he's still upset about it.
"Excuse me, could you maybe help me get my seat-" I wanted to ask the stewardess, but she looked past me, bored, pretending not to hear me.
Suddenly her face brightened and she walked past me with a big smile.
She pushed me back on my shoulder and paid no attention to me.
Annoyed, I looked after her and also recognized the reason for her sudden beaming.
Mr. Adams had just walked onto the plane and the stewardess addressed him directly with "May I help you find your seat?".
Was she serious? I had just asked that witch for help, but she ignored me.
Mr. Adams nodded and reached into his Louis Vuitton shoulder bag that was around his neck.
Even with that little bag around his neck, he looked kind of hot.
He pulled out his plane ticket and held it out to the pretty stewardess.
Beaming, she took the ticket from him and led him past me.
Mr. Adams walked past me and probably didn't even notice me since I wasn't wearing heels today anyway and was therefore smaller than usual.
In general, I noticed that every woman in the corner of my eye was looking at Damien Adams.
Well, this man really stood out with his size and the beautiful green eyes and the pitch-black hair.
Rolling my eyes, I turned around and this time asked a male stewardess(is that what you call her??) for help.
Luckily he helped me and guided me to my seat.
However, my luck ended when I realized that I had been given a seat by the window.
I got dizzy just looking at the place.
Smiling, I thanked the Lord and sat down in my seat.
I swallowed and rubbed my forehead.
It will be fine. I just won't look out the window.
Did I ever mention that I hated the window seat?
I turned my back slightly towards the window and inwardly chanted mantras to give me courage.
It didn't help much, because I still had a feeling of dizziness and was starting to feel a little nauseous.
Just when I thought it wasn't going to get any worse, a little boy took my place next to me.
This child screamed and cried madly next to me because he wanted something from his father.
The father knelt down next to the child and tried to calm it down.
However unsuccessful.
I got the crisis!
How could he not get his own child under control?
The plane hadn't even taken off and I was already fed up.
The kid on my left was annoying me with howling and I didn't really feel comfortable in the window seat either.
After a short while, which seemed like an eternity, the child's mother finally came.
If this little brat doesn't stop yelling, I'm going to throw him off the plane.
"Come with me darling. You can sit next to me" she said helping him get up from the seat.
I thanked God inside for finally giving me rest from this poisonous dwarf.
"Thank you for swapping places with my son. You know, he can be really exhausting when I'm not sitting next to him," the mother of the poisonous dwarf thanked someone and smiled broadly.
I looked up to look at my new seating partner, but almost choked on my own spit.
Damien Adams?
I take back everything I said.
The poison dwarf could stay here. I had no problem sitting next to him!
But it was too late.
The parents left with their son and what was left was Adams and I.
He looked down at me and a slight wrinkle formed on his forehead, drawing his brows together. He must have been upset that I had booked the wrong class for us.
Without further ado, he pulled his expensive shoulder bag over his shoulders and placed it above his seat.
Then he sat down next to me and I moved back to the window as best I could.
Why did this man have to have such broad shoulders?
"You had one job, Miss Smith."
fuck
I cleared my throat and turned my back to him. I wanted to give him the impression that I hadn't heard his comment.
He had every right to be angry. Because of me, we were sitting here in the wrong class surrounded by tons of passengers and annoying kids.
However, when I looked out the window, I swallowed hard and regretted my choice.
I closed my eyes and breathed in and out easily.
Don't panic.
The pilot announced that all passengers should buckle up.
I absentmindedly grabbed the belt and adjusted it.
My hands were shaking, so it took me a while to finally manage to buckle up properly.
Breathe slowly in and out.
You can do it Madison.
Please don't embarrass yourself in front of your hot boss!
As the plane began to move, I pulled down the cover, closing the window and losing my view of the outside.
Luckily, that relieved me a lot and I felt better.
A feeling of happiness filled my body.
But Mr. Adams reached out his large hand and opened the cover so I could see the plane start moving again.
It all kind of spun.
I didn't think twice and pulled the cover down again.
"That stays closed" I hissed and looked at my boss with a smile.
That was my place and I was allowed to decide about the window.
But my boss pulled the cover back up and we were able to look out again.
Since he'd moved slightly towards me to open the cover, his arm touched mine lightly and I cleared my throat nervously.
"But I want to look outside. Are you afraid of flying Miss Smith?" he asked in his deep voice and raised his eyebrow arrogantly.
I would like to shave off his dark eyebrows right now, I thought grimly.
Let's see how pretty he would look then!
"No, I didn't" my ego spoke out of me.
I stared straight ahead at the small screen explaining the basics of flight, trying to ignore Mr. Adams as best I could.
It was harder than said because his head was turned in my direction and I didn't know if he was looking at me or if he was looking out the window.
It was so hard to figure that out.
I dug my fingernails into my dress and swallowed hard as I felt the pressure that just screamed for the plane to take off.
It was so hard to sit still while my insides were shaking like crazy.
But I would never show Mr. Adams that I was actually afraid.
I didn't want to begrudge him this victory.
My eyes accidentally strayed towards the window and when I saw how far above the plane had already taken off, I jumped and narrowed my eyes.
Damn that high!
Everything below me looked like little ants.
Beads of sweat formed on my forehead and I encouraged myself.
Come on Madison! That's not so bad.
"Don't be afraid, Miss Smith. We're only hovering 12,000 kilometers in the air" my boss encouraged me in his deep voice and my head echoed in his direction.
I turned pale from panic and looked at him with wide eyes.
He had turned his face towards me and was leaning back in his seat.
"Even though..."
"O-Though what?" I stuttered.
“The plane alone weighs 300 tons. Can it bear the weight of another 900 passengers?" he said thoughtfully and looked at me seriously.
300 TONS?
I gulped in fear and almost choked on the lumps in my throat.
My heart was beating like crazy and I was afraid it would stop.
Sweat had formed on my forehead again and my breathing was irregular.
"Oh no... I'm sure the guy who invented the airplane must have had something in mind," Mr. Adams continued, his rosy lips curling into a sardonic but very brief smile this time.
Why did he find it so funny to intentionally scare me when he could tell I was really scared?
Did the plane wobble?!
I widened my eyes in panic and slumped into myself.
Please do not...
I started breathing in and out loudly and squinted my eyes shut.
It will be alright.
The plane will not crash.
We won't all die...
Where were Sophia and Liam! Why did I have to sit next to this i***t?
"Mis Smith?"
I heard his deep voice from afar. I was way too wrapped up in my fear at the moment.
Everything is going to be alright.
I squeezed my eyes shut tighter, wanting to lose sight of the image I'd seen earlier.
We were up in the air...
At an altitude of 12,000 kilometers...
With so many people...
900 people...
The plane couldn't take that much weight!
We will die!
No, everything will be fine.
I grabbed the arm of the person seated next to me and dug my fingernails into his arm.
Everything will be fine...
You can do Madison.
Out of sheer fear I forgot that it was Mr. Adams whose arm I had clawed.
After many mantras and inner monologues, I slowly opened my eyes and looked down the male arm as well.
The arm was now covered with countless red scratch marks.
Oh oh...
My head shot up and emerald eyes were already looking at me.
I hadn't intended to hurt him, although he made no effort to hurt him.
Mr. Adams looked at me thoughtfully and his face hovered in front of mine so I could feel his warm breath on my face.
Lightning struck, I let go of his muscular arm and jumped back in my seat.
"A-I'm fine," I said, forcing a smile.
I blushed slightly and turned my face away from him.
How embarrassing was that?
When I saw the window, I immediately closed my eyes and narrowed them.
Where did I get myself into here?
How dare Mr. Adams scare me like that!
I heard him clear his throat slightly next to me.
I slowly reached out and lowered the cover.
This is now closed!
I'll kill him if he dares pull that cover back up.
"Would you like to trade places with me, Miss Smith?" he asked me, and I swallowed my fear.
"Fear is natural," he continued in a mocking tone.
I would never admit to Damien Adams that I was scared.
My ego was way too big for that.
Although he must have known this for a long time.
I turned my face to him and looked at him emotionlessly.
"No, I'm not afraid," I said, looking defiantly into his green eyes.
His facial expression remained monotonous and he looked at me just as seriously.
Suddenly he stretched out his hand and with a slight movement opened the cover of the window again.
"That makes me happy. Then let's enjoy the view outside," he said calmly and again the corners of his mouth lifted slightly in a small, amused smile.
Was he laughing at me again?
I exhaled loudly and squinted my eyes shut so I didn't have to look outside.
That bastard.
The rest of the time I spent watching some movies on the small screen in front of my nose.
However, from time to time my thoughts came back to me sitting at the window and being able to see everything down.
Mr Adams also had headphones in his ears and was leaning back in his seat.
I glanced at his screen.
So he found that kind of thing interesting? That used to be boring.
My gaze went up to his face.
He was staring at the screen intently, his left arm crossed behind his head.
Even like that he looked hot.
I didn't notice how tired I was and the next few minutes I was gone.
I winced in my dream and my eyes widened.
I stretched as best I could in my position and froze when I felt heavy pressure on my head.
When I finally woke up, I realized I had my head resting on Mr. Adam's shoulder.
Not only was his intoxicating scent driving me crazy, but so was the warmth radiating from his muscular body.
Had I actually fallen asleep on his shoulder a second time?
I really couldn't be helped!
What would he think of me now?
As I slowly lifted my head, my breath caught.
His handsome face was now only a few millimeters from mine and he had his eyes closed.
It had been the heavy pressure on my head.
He had also moved his head slightly to the right and was now resting on my head with it.
His regular breath hit my face and he made no move to wake up.
He slept soundly.
How long have we been in this position?
His headphones were still plugged into his ears and the TV in front of him was still on.
I put my head back down and grabbed my ear.
Strange. My headphones were no longer in my ears and the window to my right was also covered with the cover.
Was that Mr. Adams?
Thoughtfully, I stayed in the same pose for the next few seconds, trying to free myself from him somehow without waking him up.
I had wrapped my arms around his arm in my sleep and inwardly slapped my forehead for my stupidity.
How had I ended up in his grasp?
While thinking about how to free myself from him, tiredness came over me again and my eyes closed unintentionally.
The last thing I noticed was a masculine and beautiful scent that I knew only too well.
