The Hidden White Wolf

It's Coming Together

My alarm goes off at 6:30 AM. I set it so I can take my time this morning. I don't have to rush around, and that is one thing that I don't like to do. Rush. I did however hit snooze again and tried to grab another 15 minutes before I got up and started my day. Once the alarm goes off again I shut it off and just stare at the ceiling. 

I wipe the sleep out of my eyes and just stare for a minute longer. I'm going shopping today because I'm turning 18 and meeting my wolf and maybe my mate. This weekend is going to be epic!! I sit up and let my feet touch the cold floor to wake up a bit more. Then I slide my feet into my slippers under my end table and go to the bathroom. Hop in the shower, as soon as I start to feel the hot water hit my body I suddenly feel refreshed. I stayed in the shower for about 30 minutes. 

After I got out I brushed my teeth, put my hair into a bun and dried off. Once I got dressed I dried my hair a little bit. I put on a little eye shadow and mascara and went downstairs for breakfast. When I got to the bottom of the stairs I could smell bacon. The kitchen help was cooking. Best part was most of it was done when I came in. I didn't want to startle them so I decided to introduce myself. “Good morning ladies! I'm Ava-Marie.” “Well hello there young lady, I'm Misty! “And I'm Susan!” “I’m older by 3 years.” Susan informed me. (being the oldest is really the greatest thing alive and Susan just proved me right!) 

She was about 5’ 6”, silver hair that looked like highlights. Misty was about the same height with completely black hair. They both had green eyes, but Misty had glasses. “Do you ladies need any help with anything? I love to cook!”  Misty said “NO love, we have about everything done here but you're more than welcome to stay and chat if you'd like. It beats talking to this old hag !” Misty was cracking up, Susan made it very clear that she heard her. Sibling rivalry at its best.  I agreed to stay and chat.

 Susan was the first of the 3 of us to break the silence. “Are you scared to shift?” “Who me? NO...nervous maybe but scared nope, not a bit! I have been looking forward to this day for as long as I can remember ``''Neither was I” Misty added. As soon as I heard her words I felt like finally someone who wasn't scared either. I kept hearing others talk about how they were scared or are scared. Not one ever said no they weren't. I don't know why I wasn't scared. I just had a feeling that there was no reason to. What's going to happen is going to happen no matter what. And if you make yourself scared of it. 

You would silently suffer about it until it happens. 

My mother was the next one to come down. Then everyone started to pile in ready to start their day with something to eat. I thanked them for our chat and told them we should do it again soon. They both nodded in acceptance. I grabbed myself a plate, put what I wanted to eat on it and sat down. After breakfast my mother and aunt met me in the living room so we could get our day started. 

I grabbed my light jacket that was hanging up and my purse, and we headed out. I got to my aunt's Honda SUV and got in the back seat. Luna's always rode in the front when the guards weren't driving and since both my aunt and mother were Luna's that is where they sat. Once my aunt got in she turned the car on, turned to me and said “Tunes?” “YES!!!” came out more like a squeak, and the music goes on and my aunt turns it up. Going down the road all of us singing the songs that were playing, my aunt turned the radio down a bit “Where do you want to go first?” she asks. 

“Let's go to some hobby stores and see what they have their first.” “You got it” my aunt says and then my mother starts to punch the air in excitement. My mother loved DIY things. I mean with a pack as big as what we have sometimes you gotta do what you got to do. And I loved when my mother would get creative. I think that is where I get all of my creativity from. 

Once we got there we found all the fairy lights and the tiki torches that we needed for the party. We even found blue and white  table clothes that would be perfect. We pick up some small vases that are going to hold flowers and some blue and gold ribbon that we will use to tie bows around the vases. We even found some silver and gold plates and glasses and utensils that were going to tie everything in together. 

After going to a few more places we ended up getting everything that we needed to get for the party. I was so happy. The only thing left to do was to have a spa day and get my outfit for this occasion. I knew just where I wanted to go for my FireCove Dresses. This place was the best around, and that is what we wanted. Once we get to FireCove we are greeted by this older she wolf Amay. She had really short grey hair. She had a lot of laugh lines. 

Which means she has lived a good life so far. She had a measuring tape hanging around her shoulders. She was wearing black dress slacks, a white blouse and black flats. Her hands were on her hips and that shows that she's got sass. “Hi im Ava-Marie, i'm having a very big party and i need a dress” “okay No problem! let's get your current sizes!” as we walked further in. 

Her place was small but very neat. And full of so many dresses, any style you can think of and any color. She asked me to stand on this circle with a huge mirror behind it. 

She pushed my arms up so i was standing like the letter T. i was measured head to toe and all the way round. We picked a design where the back looked like a corset and the front was heart shaped. The skirt was poofed out just a little bit. It was light silver in color and the top was all diamond like stones so it glistened in the light. I couldn't wait to do my first and final fitting tomorrow. She  promised that everything was going to be ready before the party starts. Tomorrow is Saturday and that is our final fitting and spa day and I couldn't be more excited. Everything is going according to plan. 

Times like these make me love having a big family. Every one helped out with the decorating and setting up. There are so many hands on deck. I can't wait to thank them all. It's going to be amazing! I just know it. We are on our way back, my aunt gets that glazed look and i know shes being mind linked. Once she is done with the mind link she get s this huge smile on her face. Turning towards my mom “Everything is going accordingly.” “Thank the Moon Goddess.” my mother replies. So i think  now's the perfect time “Mom? What's this surprise dad is talking about?” All my mother did was turn and give me this smile and I knew right away that I wasn't going to get the answer I wanted. “ You’ll  see tomorrow when the party starts”

 I gave the biggest eye roll I could and my aunt let out a small laugh. “Lunch time!!” was the only thing she said. “Where do you ladies want to go ? my mother asks. I yell “TACOS!” because I mean who doesn't love taco and there are so many varieties that there is something for everyone. My mom and aunt both hum in agreement. 

We pulled into a small shopping center that housed a small hole in the wall taco joint called WerTaco palace. As soon as we step out of the car, I'm hit with the most amazing food smell ever. As we walk in, it's dimly lit to give off a calm relaxing vibe. The whole place is decorated with margarita signs, beer signs, sombreros, with mariachi music softly playing in the background. Because we were still in the Pine Wood territory, this place was run by wolves. That was a relief because that meant we were going to have to watch how we talked or acted. Humans didn't think we existed and because of that we lived in complete peace with them. 

We were greeted by a she-wolf Sierra.

I've never met her before but she greeted my aunt as Luna Rose so she must be a part of my aunt's pack. She sat us down in a private booth and handed us our menus. “What would you ladies like to drink?” I ordered a sprite with no ice, my mom and aunt both ordered lemonade. We looked over the menus and by the time our drinks got here and Sierra asked “ do you ladies know what you would like to order” we knew exactly what we wanted. 

My mom was the first to speak up. “ I would like the shrimp tacos please, with extra sour cream and I'll also have chips and salsa, red rice and beans please.” Then my aunt said, “ I'll take the chicken nachos with jalapenos, onions, lettuce and tomato please.” There are so many options i could honestly order one of everything. But i finally make my decisions “ can i please have the steak tacos with extra limes, white rice and black beans, and a side of pico de gallo please.” “Is that all?” Sierra asked. We all nodded yes. Now more party talk begins! Aunt Rose started “ so as things are being set up back at the pack house let's talk about food!!” “ what do you want to have Ava-Marie?” my mother asks.

“A taco bar and a hot dog/burger bar!'' I said a little louder than I expected. I am just so excited about tomorrow night! Things are going to be changing and in such a good way. “That sounds delicious!” my mom says “And we can do all different kinds of sides!” “Like what were you thinking?” my aunt inquires. “The macaroni and potato salad from last night  was outstanding! I'd like that, regular salad, chips, dip, slaw and tater tots!” “Anything else?” my mom chuckles before taking another bite of her food.  “Not that i can think of, but if you think that we will need more surprise me!”

After we finish the amazing food, Sierra comes over and cleans our table off. “Would you ladies like any dessert or coffee?” we all shake our heads no. I know my food was so good and their portions are so big that I'm stuffed to the brim. I couldn't eat another piece of food even if I wanted to. “Okay ladies! Here's your check, and thank you so much for coming! I hope to see you all back here soon!” As we said our goodbyes to her, we ended up sitting in the booth a little bit longer to let the food digest and then we got up, paid for our meals and then walked outside. There was such a nice breeze and it wasn't too cold or too hot it was just right. 

The ride back to the Pine Wood pack seemed way shorter than the ride here. But I guess that's always the way it seems, isn't it? Everything here seems so peaceful. I really can't get enough of this place. It's one place that seems to be true. But it's all good and it just keeps getting better and better. 

We pull into the driveway of the pack house. I'm the first one out of the car and all I can do is smile. Everything is being transformed for the party tomorrow. It's going to start around 7 PM. Then the shifting ceremony will start around 11:30 AM. That way the guests have time to get a drink and make their way to the main stage. Then after my brother and I shift, we will be given a few minutes to walk around, say hello to everyone and maybe even find our mates. Normally twin wolves share mates if they are of the same gender. But for my brother and I, we’ll have different mates. And thank the Goddess for that. I had to share everything with my brother, even the womb! So not having to share mates is a blessing! 

The party will probably end in the wee hours of the morning. So I know we'll have some guests sleeping here. I just can't wait! I start walking around the party area and I can't believe how identical this setup is to the vision I had. All the fairy lights are up and so are all the tiki torches. When these lights are on and all the torches are lit it's going to look like an oasis! Almost all the tents are up, and there's even decorated signs indicating which tent is which! Tables were still being put up, but most of them were set up already. White and blue table cloths, gold and silver plating with wine glasses and water cups. Each eating table has a small vase centerpiece with blue and white ribbons around the center. Each vase has pink and white daffodils that fill them up. These flowers represent new beginnings and rebirth. With tonight's shifting ceremony, I find that fits the bill pretty well. 

As I continue to walk the party looking in complete awe at how every things coming together , I see my brothers and their friends playing football in the distance. All of a sudden it was like I had tunnel vision. Everything started to get dark and all I could see were 4 amber colored eyes looking at me from the tree line. 4 eyes meant 2 wolves! Rouges? It can't be! That doesn't happen around here. I start running towards the direction of the eyes, because my brothers are out here. I stop suddenly because my brothers are gone! The boys aren't playing football any more? What is going on? Where are my brothers and their friends? I turn back towards the house where the party is being set up, and start to scream for my mother and father but quickly stop when I realize I am completely alone. There is no one outside with me and just a few seconds ago there were over 100 people out here. I fear the worst. I started turning back around in fear that I was going to be attacked. My flight or fight instinct started to kick in and I wasn't going to run away. Everyone is gone and whoever is behind these eyes had to be the cause of it. I will fight for my life and the lives of my family and friends. 

I start to run towards the eyes and I'm not even scared. Then the eyes vanished. The eyes were replaced with a bright light. I slow down. Things are getting stranger and stranger. I get to the edge of the woods and the light is an orb. This orb is as big as I am. Then I hear it, “Ava-Marie, come in the light, dear.” Intrigued, I walked closer to the orb. It's almost blinding how bright it is. 

Now I'm close enough to this orb to touch it. I looked back out towards the house and there still was no one there. I turn back towards the orb, as I do the brightness intensifies and I have to close my eyes. 

“You can open your eyes now child.” this lovely voice states. I blink a few times and when I open my eyes I'm standing in a field, and I'm barefoot. The grass was as soft as clouds. I look around and I see beautiful flowers of all colors. Some of the colors I've never seen before. To my left there is a beautiful tree full of white flowers. Some cascading down into the pod in front of it. Next to the pond is a woman with her back towards me. She has long beautiful grey hair. She was wearing a silver dress that slowed around with the wind. I started to walk closer. “Excuse me? Can you tell me where I am?” I wanted to get back to setting up the party , but I was lost.

Tomorrow is a very big day. I didn't want anything to get in the way of that. 

This woman who looked like a goddess turned around. She looked at me with the grayest eyes I've ever seen. She smiled at me, “Ava-Marie.” I was stunned. “How do you know my name? Have we met before?” “I’m sorry my dear im Mother Selene or Moon Goddess. whichever you prefer.” I swear my jaw hit the floor. “How's this possible?” Mother Selene laughs softly as she walks up to me. She cupped my face and smiled. “Well child I've called you here. I know how big of a day tomorrow is going to be. There are a few things I want to talk with you about before tomorrow though.” “Okay” I answer , still stunned by who I am actually talking to.

“I'm sure by now you know who your parents are and their parents?” “Well actually I know my mother and father and my mothers parents. But I don't know my fathers parents. I know my fathers sister, but neither of them talk about them. I know they were Alpha and Luna at some point but I don't even know their names. (I pause for a few seconds) why?” 

Mother Selene looks at me. I can't tell if she is sad or upset. Maybe both? She puts her hands on my arms and sighs. “Sit, please”

We sat down on a bench that seemed to appear out of thin air. “I figured they were not going to explain them to you until the time was right. However the time is closer than they all realize.” “What do you mean?” “You’ll see in due time my child.” “Why can't you tell me? Don't you know what is going to happen?” “I do know what's coming but as to when I don't. That all depends on them. When I know you’ll know, sounds good?” “yes ma'am” 

“Good, now on to the topic at hand.” I stare at her because I know what she has to say has to be important. Why else would the Moon Goddess call me here. I want to know what is so important to her that I needed to know before my first shift. 

“You were correct, your fathers parents were Alpha and Luna of the Pine Wood Pack years ago. Your Aunt Rose wasn't even of shifting age yet when Rouges attacked their pack for the first time. Your grandfather, Alpha Oscar was a strong, kind man. Your grandmother , Luna Ana was the sweetest , most honest luna there ever was. But that day changed them” 

Okay this was getting intense. Finding out what happened to my fathers parents. I might even find out why my mother can't shift every time she needs to. 

“When the attack happened, a lot of their pack members died. They weren't ready. They had lived a relaxed, peaceful life. They didn't feel the need to train constantly to know how to fight. They could shift into their wolf form, but their fighting techniques were sloppy. They weren't the best at protection. And up until this point they didn't need it. They used their sister pack and 2 of their neighboring packs for help. By the end of the attack, their pack population of 1200 was severely reduced to a total of 500 pack members. That day Alpha became obsessed with training. He was very brutal. Every male wolf over 18 trained every day. 8 hours or more a day. Your grandmother wanted none of this. She wanted peace, but also wanted their pack to learn how to protect  as well. Your grandfather said NO. He made sure to do everything he could to never let another rouge attack get inside the pack borders. One night a few days after your Aunt Rose turned 18, your grandparents fled their pack. Your Aunt had already found her mate, your Uncle Brian. They both were forced to be the Alpha and Luna of the Pine Woods Pack. A few years later your Aunt was sitting at the Alphas desk when she saw an envelope becoming unstuck from underneath the desk. She opened it carefully and started to read”

“Dear Rose & Brian,

After everything that happened, I can no longer be the Alpha of this Pack. They are Weak. If there ever is to be another attack everyone here is sure to die. And I will not stand by and watch. You are all pathetic. You and Brian are now in charge. You two are the type of leaders this pack really needs. Someone who is soft and weak just like them. When you fail as a leader and the time is right, I will come back and claim my backpack. Your mother is with me not because she wanted to but because if she stays the severance of the mate bond will kill her. Things are this way because no one wanted to put in the work to make this pack its strongest. So I desert them until it is. Mother says she loves you.

This is nuts, I can't believe my grandparents really left like that. 

“When your father met your mother, everything was amazing. Once they were trained by your mothers parents to take over as Luna and Alpha, they decided to go on a small vacation. On the drive back they were in a major car accident. The accident was believed to be caused by Oscar and Ana. Your father was banged up pretty good, but your mother ended up in a coma for 3 weeks. It caused her to lose a small amount of her connection to her wolf. That and the coma is what caused your mother to have shifting issues.” 

I finally got my answer as to why mommy has issues shifting. Now what i thought the story was going to be but nevertheless i got the answer. 

“Those amber eyes that you say were watchers. Believed to be for your grandparents watching you. They are waiting to see if you are a white wolf. When you have a white wolf in your blood line, and are a female like you, the chances of yourself being a white wolf is greater. And before you ask if I know if you are one or not, the answer is yes I do know. But I cannot tell you. The first time you meet your wolf is special, I don't want to spoil it.” she grinned. “You're a special wolf” she stated. “How so?” “You'll see my dear.” That was all that she gave me. “Ava-Marie it is time to go, but don't worry we will see each other again soon. Now close your eyes”

I closed my eyes and I started to faintly hear people yelling. I could feel the bright light again against my eyelids. Then the voices started to get louder. When I opened my eyes, all I saw was a blue sky. My mothers face suddenly appeared. She must have been sitting by my side, and when she saw my eyes open she leaned over me. Letting me know she was there and I was okay. My mother looked so scared. “Ramiro!! Get over here! She's awake!!” 

In a split second my father and brothers are all around me. “Are you okay?” Rob asked. “What happened?” RC says. “I’m fine, I don't know what happened… one second I'm staring into the woods and the next I'm here.”

My father helps me up and my mom looks at me frantically. “Mom! I promise I'm fine! I'm fine!” my mother places her hands on each side of my face. Then she hugs me like she hasn't seen me in years. I take this time to whisper to my mother “Can we talk later?” she nods and continues to hug me. After all the hugs and look overs, I've had enough. My head hurts and I need to process all this. “Mom? Dad? I'm going to head up the stairs shower, and then lay down.” They both agree and I head towards the house.

After i shower I just lay on my bed and stare at the ceiling. I went through a lot today. There are watchers keeping an eye on me, I met Mother Selene, and I might be a white wolf… Not long after I hear soft knocking on my door and I know it's my mom. “Come in mom.” As she walks in  I see that she has a small tray of food. A sandwich with a sprite and some chips. I skipped dinner, so I was thankful for the sandwich. “Thanks mom, i appreciate it” “No problem honey”

I take a few bites and look at my mom. “You wanted to talk to me?” “Yes I do, what happened out there mom?” “You fainted sweetheart” “Mom, that's not what happened.” “What do you mean? We all saw you, you were walking around the party area, then you stopped in your tracks. After about a minute or so of you looking out towards your brothers and their friends you collapsed.”

“Well I was checking everything out, and then I saw 4 amber colored eyes. Then there was this bright light. As I got closer to it and it got bigger. It ended up so bright I had to close my eyes. When I opened them back up I was not here. I was with the moon goddess. She said she knew whether I was a white wolf or not, but wouldn't tell me. She wanted my meeting with my wolf to be special..” I closed my eyes not wanting to see my mom's face. I really think she is going to think I'm crazy. She placed her hand on my shoulder and I opened my eyes. She was smiling? “Honey it is an honor to see the Moon Goddess at any time. You should be proud. She chose you ``'' I know she did mom. The amber eyes I saw said they were watchers.” my mom's face fell. It was like she was in shock. I could tell she knew exactly what and who I was talking about. She immediately mind linked my dad. “Ramiro, He's back!” I could hear footsteps coming up the stairs and into my mom. It was my father, aunt and uncle. When they entered my room they were breathing heavily as if they had run a marathon. 

After explaining everything that happened again, to fill them in on the situation at hand, I was ready for bed. Tomorrow is spa day and the final fitting of my dress. I stood up and hugged my family good night. I needed to get some rest. And with my mind racing I knew I wasn't going to get much sleep tonight. After they left I crawled under the blanket and closed my eyes. The thought of those eyes, the watchers coming after me made me nervous. I quickly got up and made sure the windows in my room were locked and so was my bedroom door. Satisfied that no one is going to get in here, I get back in bed. Feeling more at ease I was able to find sleep quickly.
