Prologue
Do you know what it feels like to waking up in a strange place not remembering anything?
Even your own name.
Your own existence.
For me, I was scared but at the same time restless and confused.
Everything was strange. Odd.
I tried to explore the place I woke up from but I can no longer take a few steps before I'm pulled back to the tree I was leaning on before I woke up. And in front of me is a smooth flowing river.
I can only watch the sun setting down and the moon rising up.
I can only do is to think why, what, and how.
Talking to the stars, the frogs who simply passes by that I sometimes try to catch them but always end in failure, and I ended up laughing at myself. There are birds sometimes but they ignored me.
Sometimes I found myself crying, yelling, and running away from something. There's something aching deep inside me. It hurts.
But then, maybe it was a miracle. Because someone found me.
I was filled with hope and happiness and the strange aching finally subsides.
He sat down next to me, silently watching the river and not sparing me a single glance. I was hurt, yes, but I still feel happy.
It all shattered when he cried.
“Why are you crying, friend?” I asked, making my voice as soft to make him feel a little bit comforted. I didn’t even realized that. It was like an automatic response. There’s something strange inside me. A feeling that I knew too well. Pity, sadness, and loneliness.
My question was left unanswered.
As if he didn’t hear me or perhaps he simply ignored me.
I tried to wipe his tears away and I was shocked to find my hand breezes pass his face.
And then there. In the middle of the night, all you could hear is the pained cry of a boy and the silent cry of the ghost, all have the same feeling as if they have the same heart.
