Chapter 5

Laura P.O.V This is the third day of our trip to Damberg on the train. Ever since the fight I had with my dad we became distant and we didn't talk much. He was enraged, I never saw him this angry before. I’m afraid that he might explode if I provoke him again. Mom tried her best to calm the situation, but obviously, dad was too drown in this. The only time I heard him spoke was during our meals. He had asked mom to rest, but mom refused. I got up from my seat. "Where are you going, young lady?" Dad finally spoke. "To the bathroom. Got any problem with that?" I snapped. I didn't know what was happening to me. Why am I angry with dad? We were always on good terms. We never fought. "Laura, you can not talk back to your father like that," she eyed at me. Mom made a sour face I saw that she was having trouble keeping us all together. So I left and walked to the toilet at the very back of the train. I heard dad yelling out my name, but I ignored him. Just like my dad said I will not make a scene in front of the passengers on the train. I decided to walk away. I waited in line for the bathroom. When I got in strange tears started to stream down my face uncontrollably. I am well aware of the number of people waiting outside, but I couldn't control the tears. I came out after I return to my own self. I caught a girl gazing at me with a strange sparkle in her eyes. I cut off our eyes contact and started walking away. I could still feel her gaze deeply fixed me onto my back which gives me chills. Walking back to the seat, I regretted talking back to my dad. His eyes were fixed to the solid window trying hard not to look at me. This is the first time that my dad had been mad at me. I chuckled. I can see where I got my stubbornness from. "What are laughing at?" My dad questioned. "I'm sorry." I began to burst into laughter. I could feel his ever-growing anger but his complaint further triggered laughter from within my lonely mind. Tears of happiness started to pool in my eyes and I put my hands on my stomach to suppress the pain that was forming in my stomach. I looked at mom and she was smiling. I guess I know what my mom meant when she said I resemble dad. I am stubborn just like him. I laughed out loud with bittersweet tears in my eyes. I'm sorry, Ahri, can you wait for a little while? I promise you. I'll come to get you soon. I know now what I truly feel for you. It was love at first sight. You are my first love. I'll never let you go. It's a promise! Ahri P.O.V Laura’s determination had vanished suddenly, and a wave of calmness washed over her. I am happy she has forgotten about me for a moment. It was her destiny to meet and save me from this harsh maze that reflects my emotions. I miss my brothers, sisters, and my parents. I wish I can feel them and touched them. I closed my eyes and tried to see their faces, but somehow the image of Laura came instead. "You're starting to fall in love with her," a voice interrupted my thoughts. I looked at up to see a boy flying down. I despise him with my entire being for he is the one who trapped me in this maze. He licked his upper lips making me feel sick. I looked at him in disgust. "Very good," his deep voice resonated through the forest of illusion. "Magnificent, I love it! She must truly be the alpha in the prophecy. I can't wait till she awak-." "She won't," I intercepted. "Oh," he looked at me with delight. "But she will," he grinned. The forest darkens and the dark clouds overtook the sky. Then, his black feathery wings danced with the wind and sway side to side as a crooked smile formed at the edge of his lips while he disappears into thin air, filling the forest with the sound of his evil laughter. I grinned. Fine. I'll play with his game, but I definitely won't lose. Laura's life depends on this. The world depends on this. I need to win this game. She can never be awakened. She can't no matter what. For she is the goddess of calamity. The goddess of sleep and death. For she is my sister.
