Laura P.O.V While traveling to Damberg, I was immersed into Arcendonia. The book was captivating. It tells a story of a beautiful goddess who ended up falling in love with a human boy in Arcendonia. As usual, the goddess was checking up on the humans. She disguised herself as a wolf, the form she always admired to be transformed into. She walked around the forest but came to a stop when she saw a boy under a tree admiring the gaze of the moon. She instantly fell in love. It was love at first sight. He was gorgeous, a broken piece of a star. Every day goddess would go to him, watch him go along with his normal routine and observe his movements. Sometimes she would sing to the moon confessing her unheard feelings of love for the boy. Then one day, the boy gathered all his courage to call out to the dark figure. All this time he knew that his every single move had been watched over by a wolf. He calls out to it. And the next moment she is right in front of his eyes. She was nervous about facing the boy, her love. As always she hid her true identity beneath the furs of the wolf and pretended to be a wolf dwelling in the thick woods. Every day they would meet in the forest and he would open up to her about his problems as if she was a real person not just an animal. The goddess was touched by the mortal boy’s kind heart. She developed a strong sense of affection towards the boy that she rarely had. As time passed by, the goddess felt guilty for not revealing her true self. On one night she finally decided to shed light on her identity. Exposing the truth, the boy instead of feeling betrayed, he gave her a cheerful smile. On this, the goddess inquired. "Are you not upset about the fact that I kept you in the dark?" she interrogated. "No," he said calmly. "I always knew you were different and I had been hoping that you would tell me when you were prepared." She blushed at his words and nodded. Since then their relationship deepened. They were intricately woven in love and nothing seemed more important than each others time and presence. The boy had stolen the goddess heart and the goddess thought of him every single night and day. Nobody had been able to complete her. They were perfect for each other. Just like the lid and the pot, perfectly fitted into each other. During the day she would early wait for the dust to set in so that she can go to her love. One night, the boy walked up to her with a melancholy written all over his face. "What's going on through your mind? Your eyes are full of sorrows," The goddess questioned. "I'm going to be in the army. I'm afraid I won't be able to see you until the war is over." "Oh!" she blurted out. It took a moment for her to compose and come back to her sense again. "But we will definitely meet. Right? After the war?” She was trying hard to build in hope. The hope of seeing her beloved returned to her side safe and unscathed from the war. "Yes, I will. I will come back to you." The boy replied as his voice gradually transcended from a low murmur to a sincere promise. "I promise that I will commit to you. Each night at the same time I will go into the woods and stare at the moon as if I was leaning right next to you. I will give you my words." At this, he stretched his arm and intertwined his fingers with hers tightly. It felt complete just like the missing piece of a puzzle that had been finally been put together. "I trust you. Your trust should not waver too. I will disguise myself into a wolf even in your absence in remembrance of our memories together. I will be looking forward to your return to fall into your arms all over again. "You're beautiful in any form that you take ." She let out a smile but her hidden sorrow grew heavy as the time neared for them to part ways. Her sorrow of the growing distance between them slowly turned in to tears which glowed in the moonlight. He caressed her cheek and gently wiped away the tears. "Don't worry I'll be back soon to meet you," he whispered. The goddess was still depressed. "I promise," he hesitated. But the goddess was too happy to not have heard the note of doubt in his voice and immediately hugged him. "You promise?" she confirmed. "Yes," he tried to sound more confident. That night they spend their last moment in each other's arm. They stayed longer than usual. They did not seem to care about the time. All they did was cling to each other. Every second meant the world. They whispered songs of love into the blanket of darkness enveloping them. Their face slowly inched closer as their eyes locked passionately onto each other. Their breath gradually intensified with hunger. The moment their lips touched, the sparks ignited brightly within their heart. It was their first kiss. A beautiful feeling indeed. The feeling that they had never experienced before. A rare precious thing that only lovers knew it existed. They departed later at the stroke of midnight. The goddess was heartbroken but held her hopes high. The hope of her lover returning back into her arms. And to create yet another beautiful memory. Just as she promised, she would transform herself into her wolf form and would stare at the face of the moon longing for the warmth of her beloved. As she waited patiently for his return, days turned into months and months into years. Most of the men were already back, and so she was curious. She went to her lover house in her wolf form. She was sure that he would be glad to see her after such a really long time. In her snow like form, she peeped through the window . But what stood before her eyes froze her. She found the photo of her lover kept inside a frame. He was smiling his heart out. His smile that could light up the whole sky. A large pot was placed in front of it. Incense was lit up. As she kept gazing at his smile she saw the small wave of smoke ascending into the heaven. She didn't want to believe her eyes. She felt betrayed by her own pair of eyes, her window to the world. She ran as fast as she could. She felt the numbness slowly rule over her limbs. She slowly came to a halt. Raised her snout and howled into the clearness dark sky. She felt her heart sink a thousand meters down to the bottom of the ocean. As her howling went on and on, she declared the loss of her love to the entire universe. She desperately needed someone to share her grief with. She could no longer bear the pain. A part of her strongly refused to accept the fact that he disappeared without a trace. Not even a scent was left behind. But only memories. Part of her brought her back to the reality. He ceased to exist now. She had to hold on to her heart. It started beating stronger and faster. She found herself swallowed by darkness claiming her again, her heartbeat roaring through it. lub dub lub dub. As a goddess, she traveled to the realm of the dead hoping to find her lover there, but she was wrong. Yet she did not give up. She held her love alive and strong in her broken and wounded heart. Heaven took pity on her and paved her way to him. She finally found him. To her surprise, in a spirit form. Her heart ached as she saw him wandering around. Her pain intensified like a salt sprinkled on a fresh wound. The boy did not want to see her. He hid right away as the goddess presented herself with the mixture of sorrow and happiness painted on her face. "Please stay away," the boy begged. "C'mon Daniel please let me see you." "No.. I’m too far gone. I broke our promise. I betrayed your trust." So the goddess snuck up from behind wanting to touch, but clearly she couldn't he was no longer human he is now a spirit. She could no longer touch him and feel him again. The first kiss they shared under the moonlight became their first and the last kiss, a goodbye kiss. The thought overwhelmed her. Daniel’s facial expression saddened. At last a warm light flashed above him. The beam of the light was strong and powerful. "It's time," Daniel said. "No, don't go, PLEASE" the goddess begged. "I'll see you in my next life," he smiled with confidence and comfort. soon the angelic light consumed him. The goddess heart raged. She was furious at the humans for taking her lover away from her. She lost her lover to the human. She hated each of them. Revenge was all she could think of. She decided to listen to her heart and not her brain. As the wings of darkness took over the land, she transformed herself into wolf form. Her heart filled with loss, hatred, and anger, she hunted for the powerless human to seek revenge for her loss. It happened every night. The satisfaction and the contentment of hunting down and shredding flesh into pieces in the dark kept her alive. A reason for her survival burying her pain in the murder. In contrast, she took her goddess form during the day which made her weaker. With her killing, fear stirred up in the heart of the people residing near the forest. They were afraid and insecurities started building home into their mind. So they went to the world tree Yggdrasil and asked the fairies of who was responsible for all the merciless killing of their loved ones. When the fairies answered that the goddess of calamity was behind all the murders, they were shaken to death and tried to study everything about her in the world tree. They figured out they could seal her. The people united together and plotted to get rid of her forever. They waited at night for the goddess to take her from and to go to her usual hunting. As the white silver wolf appeared before their eyes, they chant the spell and sealed her inside a building with strong light force. The goddess was sealed. But the need to take revenge remained strong and firm. So she used her last remaining magic to escape from the evil clutches of the human. From that incident, she was never seen. Although, legend foretold of a prophecy of her revelation that she will return to take her vengeance upon her lover's death, only if she awakens. I have know no idea what that meant, but after reading Arcendonia. I felt pity for the goddess because of the power she possessed. This story reminded me of myself. We had the same story and it flowed in the same direction. I knew I would have the same had I been in the shoes of the goddess of calamity, Diane. If Ahri had died in the hands of the mortals I would resent them. They evil human-provided us another world to live even though we stood on the same land. I would want to wipe out the entire human race for taking Ahri away from me. Even if the gods of the heaven take Ahri her away, I will challenge them and fight until my last breath. I love Ahri so much to let her leave me for another world. I am willing to give up my life just to keep her safe.
