Hearing Lucky's words, Diego could only remain silent. He understood why the man did it. Anyone could accept it. What could he do if he refused the man's explanation? His body was already hurting from all the beatings. Would getting angry bring his body back to normal? Apparently not.
Diego sat slowly on his cardboard box. Some vendors were concerned about his condition. Some shoppers threw him coins, some five-dollar bills. Seeing that, Diego smiled. A smile spread across his face.
"Maybe it's good luck that George beat me up this early in the morning. With this bruise on my face, people will be more concerned and give me more money!" Diego said as he held the ten-dollar bill that the middle-aged woman had just thrown at him, without even glancing at him, and deliberately covering his nose.
The sun was rising. Diego started counting the dollar bills in his bowl and moved them to another place.
"Amazing, it's early and I've already got 800 dollars. I just need to collect the other half, I'll go home early today. I'll also buy the best gift for Mrs. Antonella, Luna's grandmother. I'll also come to the party for you, Luna! I won't let any man near you. I'm sure there will be lots of beetles approaching my beautiful flowers today," Diego said to himself.
The sun was shining on Diego's face when a woman leaned over and handed him thousands of dollars in his bowl. She didn't look at Diego. She even covered her face with a mask. Seeing the unusual thousands of dollars in his bowl, Diego immediately noticed the woman.
"Madam! Madam, wait!"
Diego called out to her, but she didn't stop. Diego held the thousand dollars in his hand. Hoping the woman had given it to him by mistake. Usually people only gave him 10 dollars at most, but this woman handed him a 100-dollar bill for a good amount of money. That would get him home quickly. Unfortunately, Diego thought that the woman had given him the wrong amount of money.
Diego decided to grab his stuff and catch up with the woman. He followed her to the parking lot and couldn't find her. From afar, he saw George and some of his men heading towards him. Not wanting the money he had earned today to be taken away by George, Diego chose to run away and go down a different path from the one George and his men were taking.
"Who was that woman? Did she give me the wrong money? I'll look for her next time! Even though her face is covered by a mask, if I see her from behind, I might recognize her. George is here, I don't want to get into trouble and add more wounds to my body," Diago said to himself and walked back to his house.
On his way home, Diego saw a sale on bags at a great price. He thought about buying one of those bags for Mrs. Antonella, the big lady of his wife's family's birthday today. he had to get her a gift. Choosing the best gift is the right thing to do.
Diego certainly knew what was good and what was bad. However, in front of him were items that looked good. He had no other choice, even if he gave up all his earnings today for a gift, it would never be good for Mrs. Antonela, Selina Antonella. She was too materialistic that he could not conquer her for now. Giving away all his money today was a bad thing. Eliza, his mother-in-law would be furious when she found out.
Diego looked around and found one that he thought was good. He asked the seller to wrap it neatly and quickly gave him a few dollars. He hurried home. He didn't want to get into more trouble when he found out George was already nearby.
Diego ran home with a thousand footsteps and got ready to go to Antonella's big family home.
Diego looked at the large cupboard where he kept his personal belongings. He looked through it and couldn't find the best clothes to wear to the party.
He had sold almost all of his clothes to cover their daily needs over the past few months. There were only a few pieces of clothing left and they were not suitable for going to the party land. He still had more than 2000 Dollars, if he had bought clothes, it would have been gone.
Diego didn't even have any pants to wear as formal wear anymore. Only shorts and t-shirts. That was his choice and he left immediately. Even though he knew he wouldn't be accepted, but he also chose to leave anyway. Through the back door, it was the only way. She had taken a shower and smelled good all over. She thought it was appropriate for her to come.
When she arrived, the entire parking lot was full of luxury cars. This was no ordinary party. Rich people wouldn't miss a big party like this. Let alone a banquet like this. Not just a birthday party, but a business event. Meeting young masters from various groups, this was one of the advantages.
Diego chose the back door as usual. But just as he was about to go to the back without someone stopping his footsteps.
"Let's see who this is! This is the Antonella family's young master. Did I mention that?"
The voice seemed familiar to Diego. The voice that had been so incredibly annoying in his life. Who else but Haiden Giordano. His own cousin. The person he hated for the rest of his life. Since childhood they had never gotten along.
Without turning around, Diego already knew who was talking. He thought it best to move on and enter the back door. Seeing his interlocutor ignoring his words, Haiden was furious.
"You keep ignoring me, Diego. Let's see, will you still ignore me after I take what belongs to you? I've wanted it for so long, today, I'm going to make it mine," Haiden said confidently.
