Chapter 1
It was a summer night in Texas. Lacy has the windows crack open to let a nice breeze in. She hears a howl coming from the forest outside. She loves listening to nature while she goes to sleep in her king-sized bed. Lacy heard a noise just outside her room. "Honey, is that you?" She asked with a scratchy voice. When her eyes adjust to the darkness, the moonlight shines through the window. She sees two men wearing all black clothes and something covering the bottom half of their faces. One is taller than the other. They looked shocked that Lacy was there. So was she. Why didn't the dogs bark or attack them? She thought to herself. She soon snapped out of it and tried to scream. The taller guy rushed over to her, grabbed her and cover her mouth. The smell of blood hit her nose. Did they kill them? When that thought hit her head, the man behind her spoke." What should we do now Bill?" He asked, tightening his grip on her. She looked up, and the man was looking at her. She could see his black eyes. "Shut up stupid!" Bill shouted. She guesses he's in charge. He began to look through everything.
The tall guy leaned into Lacy's ear. "If you scream, I will slit your f*****g throat." After threatening her, he removed his hand that covered her mouth. He pulled a large knife out of his pocket and placed it on her throat. Cold sweat started streaming down her back. Am I going to die tonight? That question kept repeating in her head. Bill is trashing the place looking for something. Tears started streaming down her face and hitting the cold knife. ""W-w-w-what are you looking for? M-m-m-maybe I can help."" Lacy said with a shaky voice. He stops and turns to face her. Why didn't they bring flashlights? She thought to herself. She hears his footsteps getting closer. Sounds like boots hitting the wood floor. He step in the moonlight and she saw his blue eyes. They look like they are glowing, but maybe it is a trick of the light. Lacy gulped loudly and shivered in fear. He looked to his right, both Lacy and the tall guy followed his gaze to the cracked window. A howl filled the room. All around them are forests. For some reason, the howl made her feel calmer. She hears Bill step closer. She snapped her head towards him.
Bill came so close to her. She felt his breath on her face. Chills want down her spine. He grabbed a knife from his pocket. He put it up against her cheek and want down to her chest. He grabbed a piece of her silver hair with purple highlights and leaned in to sniff it. She notices the knifes are from the kitchen where her and her fiancée, Jane, bought them when they moved in. Bill slid his finger down to one of her breasts. In a cold voice he says "I like your breasts." Fear want through her like lightening. He tore open her dark red gown with the knife. ""Let's get a closer look. Shall we?"" The tall guy said. Both men started laughing. That's when she has to try to get away. She kicks Bill in the d**k while she grabs the tall guy's d**k and twists it. They both scream out in pain. They both drop the knifes they were holding. Lacy quickly ran out of the bedroom towards the kitchen. She knocked down some chairs to give her enough time to escape. She slipped on something wet, but she didn't think anything of it except get out of the house. ""She's getting away! Get her!"" Bill ordered. She rushed out of the house and head towards the woods. A wall of blood hit her nose. She already knows who it belongs to. She glanced to the left and saw her dog's body. Tears streamed down her face, she could barely see where she was going. She heard the two men chasing her. She wiped her tears away and kept going. She knows these woods like the back of her hand. The guys are right behind her, but she also hears animals running beside her. Not close enough to see them.
She saw a tall tree by a small lake where Jane and her go to relax and think. She quickly climbed the tree. She hears the men running. They stop right underneath her. There was a twig snap in the distance. ""Over here!"" The tall guy said. She tried to slow her breathing and her heart rate, fearing they might hear her. Her feet throbbed from all the rocks and twigs, her lungs burned with every breath. Her mind want straight to her dogs and how they just lay there. She quickly blinked away the tears when she heard one of the men running back to the tree. The tall guy was underneath Lacy. He looked around a bit. They both heard something from a bush that was near the tree. The man lifted the knife and with a cold voice he said, "I hear you." He walked towards the bush slowly. A deep growl came from the bush. A cold chill went down Lacy's spine. The tall guy stopped dead in his tracks, when a wolf emerged from the bush. All Lacy could see was the black fur flowing in the wind. The wolf is keen on man. He stepped backwards with a scared look on his face. ""No, no, I am sorry. I didn't know she was inside."" He cried out. He threw the knife down and put his hands up. The wolf bare his teeth and walked closer to hm. Does he know the wolf? How? She thought. She hears some movement to her left.
She sees Bill. He stops dead in his tracks once he saw the wolf. Bill is frozen in fear. Lacy notice there were two gray wolves approaching him and that he hadn't noticed them. One of the wolves step on a branch. Bill quickly turns around and one of the wolves launches at him, followed by the other. A blood-curdling scream escape Bills lips. ""Help Gary!"" He screamed out. A gray wolf with a hint of black attack Bill's neck while another gray wolf attack his stomach. ""No Bill!"" Gary screamed, turning his back on the black wolf. The wolf takes its shot and attack Gary. Its jaw latched on to Gary's neck and ripped it open. A fourth wolf comes out of nowhere and attack Gary. It's dark brown dancing in the breeze while he rips him apart. They both scream while their blood flies everywhere. They didn't have time to defend themselves. Lacy's eyes widened in horror. She couldn't look away as she watched the wolves ripping them apart piece by piece. She had to cover her mouth, so she wouldn't vomit. The growls coming from wolves hit her ears. Blood is going everywhere; the ground, the bottom of the tree and even in the water.
Tears flowed down her cheeks. She looked across the lake. She sees two wolves that look similar to her dogs, Roxy and Sam. She quickly wipes her tears away from her eyes and looks again. They were gone. My mind is playing tricks on me. She thought. She hears an eagle shriek above her. Lacy looks up and sees one flying above in a circle. A calming feeling fell over her. The wolves begin to howl and run off. Lacy waited a couple of minutes before climbing down the tree. She couldn't help herself and got closer to the dead bodies to see the damages. She is frozen at the sight. She could barely identify them. The wolves have ripped apart both of their faces, their head is separated from the bodies.
They ripped their legs to shreds. Their intestines were out of their bodies. Lacy felt weak in the knees, she fell to the ground. The ground is cover in blood. It's still warm. She looks at her hands that are cover in blood. Fear shot through her body. Lacy bolted and rushed through the woods towards her house. The man's screams lingered in her mind. When she arrived at her house she stopped. She went up to her two dead dogs. ""I'm so sorry. I couldn't save y'all."" she sobbed. She got the over whelming sensation of vomiting. She ran somewhere else to relieve that sensation. She head inside the house and switch on the light. She screamed until she lost her voice. Blood is all over the floor and some on the walls. She fell to her knees and cried. Lacy knew that all the blood was from her beloved dogs, Roxy and Sam. When she can't cry anymore, she stands up, grabs a shovel. She proceeds to a little flower bed that she and Jane planted. She dug two holes for them.
She had to drag them to the spot because she wasn't strong enough to carry them. She covered them up and spelled out their names in flowers. Now Lacy is cover in mud and blood. Her mind kept playing the entire encounter over and over again. What were they looking for? Why did they act like they knew the black wolf? Why me? All these questions keep running through her head. She looked at a clock that was across the room: 3:00 Am, Jane should be home any minute now.
