Lacy saw Jane in front of her covering her up with a jacket calling her name. She looks behind her, the police and the paramedics. She checked to see if she was alright. They checked her pulse and her feet. As soon as the police ask her what happened. She broke down and cried. Jane grabbed her into a hug. ""They killed them Jane! They killed Roxy and Sam. I was so scared."" Lacy cried. "What?" Jane said with a confused look on her face. "Can you show me?" Jane asked in a low voice.
Lacy hesitated a little, but she slowly got up, ignoring the paramedics telling her no. She grabbed Jane's hands and took her to the flower beds. Jane immediately noticed the flowers spelling out their names. She just stood there staring at the graves. Lacy thought she might be shocked. She hugged her tightly. Two police officers walked up to them and asked Lacy to show him where the bodies of the two men were at. Lacy nodded and started to head to the spot. Jane followed them and grabbed her hand to try to calm her down. On the way to the spot, one of the officers asked again what happened. Lacy stiffen up. Jane put her arm around her and told her she was safe now.
Everyone smelled a metallic smell. They knew immediately what that smell was. "We are here." Lacy informed them with a faint voice. Lacy and Jane stand behind while the two police officers walk up to the shredded bodies. "Oh s**t," one police officer said. Lacy just stands there with a blank stare. One of the police men called for back up, the other one started to put up the caution tape. Lacy and Jane walked back to the house, but they wouldn't let them go inside anymore. A police man told Lacy they needed to talk at the precinct. Lacy couldn't talk anymore, she was tired and draine of energy. Lacy looked down at her clothes and discovered blood and dirt. "We have a shower and extra clothes at the precinct," the police man explained. Lacy nodded in response.
Jane put her hand on Lacy's lower back. The police man stood and stretched out his hand towards the police car. After, they let her shower and change. They took Jane down a different hallway than Lacy. Fear creeps into her. The police officer stated, "It's better if you do this alone." Lacy had no energy to argue. They took Lacy to a room at the end of the hallway. He opened the door and told her to have a seat. "Where is Jane?" She asked him. "She is in the waiting area." He answered her before shutting the door. She pulled her knees up to her chest and waited for them to question her.
It felt like hours wanted by, but only minutes want by. A tall old man with gray hair and a mustache walked in. ""Hey, my name is Rick. Would you like a drink?"" He asked her. Lacy didn't answer, she just stared at the floor. He set the water in front of her before sitting down. "Can you tell me what happened?" He asked in a gentle voice. She slowly lifted her head up and looked at him. She saw sadness in his eyes. She took a deep breath and told him everything that had happened. His eyes widened in shock. Tears streamed down her face. Rich casually walked out of the room. Jane came bursting through the door. She ran to Lacy, who was just broken down in tears. She hugged her tightly until she was calm.
Once she calmed down, Jane handed her the bottle of water. The cold liquid smoothed Lacy's dry, scratchy throat. "Let's get out of here." Jane said quietly. She helped Lacy to her feet. "I'm sorry I couldn't save them," Lacy whispered. "Shhhhh, you didn't do anything wrong."" Jane stated, stroking her hair. I can't get their screams out of my head. Nor their names.... Bill and Gary,"" Lacy said. She felt Jane stiffen up. Lacy is to drain to look more into it. They knew they couldn't go home, so Jane called up Kyle to see if they could stay with him at his new place for the time being. He agrees to it. Rick volunteered to take them there.
When they got there, they waved Rick goodbye. They both slowly walked up to a little brown house. That is far away from his neighbors. There were fields on both sides of the house, and woods behind the house that made Lacy uneasy. Kyle opened the door when they started walking up the wooden stairs. When they walked inside the house, they saw a little kitchen on the left. With marble counter tops. Straight ahead is a white door that leads to a bedroom. To the right is the living room with a pullout couch, a rocking chair and a coffee table. To the right of the living room is another white door that leads to the bathroom.
Kyle went to the kitchen. "I made eggs and bacon if that's okay," he stated. "Yeah, we love bacon." Jane said. Lacy shook her head, yes, but her eyes seemed far away. Kyle was concerned about her. Jane lifted her hand up to tell Kyle not to ask. He motioned them to sit down on the bar stools across the counter where he had the food lined up. Once they got their plates, they head to the couch. Jane had to carry Lacy's plate because of how shaky she still was. She notices they have worried looks on their faces. When everyone sat down on the couch with their food, Kyle turned on the TV. He flipped through the channels until they agreed on a movie.
Lacy was on the verge of passing out until she heard Kyle state he needed to go to work. He wanted to a room that Lacy hadn't noticed before, right next to the white door she first saw. He quickly changed and ran out the door. Lacy looked over at Jane who was staring at the front door. When she looked over at Lacy she chuckled. Lacy could only smile. Jane noticed Lacy barely ate anything on her plate. ""Are you OK honey? You hardly ate anything."" She asked with a concerned voice. "Yeah, I'm perfectly fine. I just got into the movie." Lacy responded. She looked down at her plate and her stomach turned. She didn't want anyone to worry about her, so she ate a piece of bacon. Jane shrugged and continued eating and watching the movie. Lacy had to force herself to swallow the food. In the movie there was a fighting scene with blood spilling everywhere. Lacy began to shake uncontrollably. Jane put her hand on her leg. "I'm tired and cold, let's go to sleep." Lacy said. Jane nodded and got up, cleaning the kitchen and putting the dishes in the dishwasher. They headed towards the spare bedroom. They opened the door, a plain room with a queen-size bed with white cotton sheets. A night stand on both sides of the bed with a closet to the right. As soon as their heads hit the pillows they were out like a light.
