Chapter 4

Mia stood in front of the priest opposite Blake, she couldn't even fake a smile. The priest cleared his throat, attracting her attention back to the present. "Do you, Mia, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?" He asked, but Mia's mind was blank. She felt her Aunt's hand on her arm, a silent plea for her to say yes. She looked over at her Aunt, who gave her a pretentious, sad smile as she remembered her Aunt's words, "We make sacrifices for those we love." She loved her family, even though she was forced to do this. With a deep breath, Mia turned to face Blake Anderson. He looked at her expectantly, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips. And at that A moment, she knew that this was her new life. There was no going back, no escape. She took a deep breath and said, "Yes," her voice barely above a whisper. A sigh of relief swept through the crowd, and her husband grabbed her, pulling her close for a kiss just for show Mia closed her eyes, trying to ignore the emptiness that still lingered in her heart. This was her new life, her new reality. And she would have to find a way to make it work, to find happiness in a life she never wanted. She settles into the car with Blake on their way to the mansion. The drive to the mansion was filled with embarrassing quietness as he lit up his blunt. Mia sat quietly in her seat facing the window and thinking about what she had just got herself into. Blake abruptly turned to her, offering her a drag of blunt “Would you like some?” he asked, his voice intense. Mia turned to him and shook her head quietly. “No, I don't” her voice stammered. His expression hardened, and he took the pack away, saying, "Fine, I don't like women who smoke anyway." Mia looked at him in disgust, her anger starting to boil. "Why did you offer me one, then?" she he asked, her voice tight. Blake took a drag of his blunt, not looking at her as he blew the smoke out the window, offering no explanation. Mia could only stare at his side profile, fuming uncontrollably, not that her husband cared though. "Why did you marry me if you want to treat me like air?" Mia asked out of nowhere. He looks at her without an answer. She gives a faint sign and puts her hand on her face supporting her jaw while she leans on the window and looks around. She entered her room and discovered it was empty. She searched for her things desperately as she called out “Melissa! Melissa!... “. “Yes ma'am” she screamed as she ran toward Mia. “Why is this room empty, where are all my belongings,” she said to her as she pointed toward the walk-in closet. “Before Sir Blake left, he gave a strict decree that all your things should be moved to the guest room on the last floor and this room should be locked as it is no longer yours”, Melissa answered in a solemn manner. “What have I gotten myself into,” Mia said to herself with pain in her heart “Huh? Did you say something, ma?” Melissa asked. “No Melissa, your silence will be well appreciated at this point, show me to the guest room,” she said as she walks furiously behind Melissa. They walked into the room, which was rather smaller and looked like the inferior room in the house “Sorry ma,” Melissa says almost to herself as she feels pity for Mia. “You can go now, close the door behind you” Mia ordered, and Melissa departed almost immediately. She lay on the bed face down with her hands beneath her forehead as she began to sob She wept bitterly at the admission that this was her new life. Steve walks into Madam Eva’s room with a questioning look. “So who is she?” Steve asked Madam Eva. “She’s Lilian’s niece” she answered briefly with an angry expression, “Come on, you don’t like her already?” he laughs as he touches her chin swiftly, which makes her lips curve into a smile. “I just think she's a little brat who Lilian brought to your dad so he could promote her and demote me” Eva resented, which attracted a light kiss on her lips. “I can't assure you that my dad doesn't like her, but I can assure you that you're still my girl,” Steve said as he got up and left. “Get me one more shot, Vlad!” Blake ordered his private bartender in a very high and angry manner. Vlad mixes his favorite alcohol in one shot and delivers it to his boss. Blake had his fists tightened whilst thinking deeply about his new situation with that little lass in his custody and what the media would be ranting about now. Vlad comes forward with a shot of mixed concoctions and he gives him a dead stare which dismisses him immediately. “I don't even know her name,” Blake thought loudly to himself. “Right, I haven't had a conversation with her... But what do I want to say to such a minor? She's a f*****g kid!” Blake exclaims as he gnashes his teeth. “I only wanted to make Kim jealous and show her that I could get someone much more beautiful, hot, and sexy than her but as it stands, I'm in for a lifetime of responsibility ”. He whispered to himself while shaking his head in regret. “Sir, you have an appointment with Mrs. Lilian in the next 30 minutes”, his home secretary, Rose informs him to his face. She is the only one who could interrupt him. “I don't owe her a dime. Reschedule it for the next 2 weeks” he responds in a harsh tone “Okay sir” Rose answered as she turned to the exit of the rooftop, leaving a frown on Vlad
