CHAPTER 3 -
Luna's eyes blazed with frustration as she stormed out of the dining hall. Her father's verdict still lingered in her mind - find the killer and apologize to the victim's pack. It was a daunting task, but she was determined to prove her innocence.
As she walked down the hallway, she felt a sudden jolt, and her body went limp. Elijah's disarming powers had rendered her immobile. She glared at him, her eyes flashing with anger.
"I told you never to use your powers on me again!" she spat, trying to free herself from his grasp.
Elijah's expression was stoic, his eyes gleaming with a hint of amusement. "It was urgent, Luna. I needed to get you here quickly."
Luna's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with questions. "What's going on, Elijah?"
Elijah's grip on her arms tightened. "Someone is trying to frame you, Luna. And I think I know why."
Luna's eyes widened, her heart racing with anticipation. "What do you mean?"
Elijah's voice was low, his words dripping with conviction. "The victim was your guest, but you were out in Arcadia, scouting for new fancies. It's the perfect setup."
Luna's face darkened, her anger simmering just below the surface. "I hate you, Elijah!"
Elijah's eyes sparkled with amusement. "I love you too, Luna. But we need to focus. The murderer is still in the castle."
Luna's eyes locked onto Elijah's, her mind racing with questions. "How do you know that?"
Elijah's voice was confident, his words dripping with conviction. "My instincts, Luna. I feel it strongly."
Luna's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with doubts. But Elijah's confidence was infectious, and she found herself trusting his instincts.
Together, they hatched a plan to catch the killer. They would start by searching the castle, looking for any clues that might lead them to the culprit.
As they walked through the castle, Luna's senses were on high alert. She could smell the fear emanating from the other inhabitants, and her heart went out to them.
They reached the omega male quarters, and Luna's face twisted in disgust. She hated omegas, and the men were even more irritating.
"Do we have to go in here?" she asked, her voice dripping with disdain.
Elijah's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Do you want to find your culprit or not?"
Luna's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with frustration. But she knew she had to trust Elijah, and together, they entered the quarters.
The omegas lined up, their eyes wide with fear. Elijah's voice was commanding, his words dripping with authority.
"Take off your shirts and lift your hands!"
The omegas complied, their bodies trembling with fear. Elijah's eyes scanned their bodies, his senses on high alert.
But there was nothing. No scent, no marks, no clues.
Luna's face twisted in frustration. "This is a waste of time."
Elijah's eyes locked onto hers, his voice low and reassuring. "We'll find the killer, Luna. I promise."
Together, they moved to the female quarters, their senses on high alert. And then, they caught the scent. A faint smell of blood and sweat.
Luna's eyes locked onto Elijah's, her heart racing with excitement. "We have her."
Elijah's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Let's go get her."
They stormed into the room, their senses on high alert. And then, they saw her. The killer. A woman with a scar above her left eyebrow.
Luna's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with questions. "Who are you?"
The woman's eyes flashed with anger, her voice dripping with venom. "You'll never know."
Elijah's eyes locked onto the woman's, his voice low and commanding. "Take off your shirt and lift your hands."
The woman complied, her body trembling with fear. And then, they saw it. A scratch mark on her arm.
Luna's eyes widened, her heart racing with excitement. "We have her."
But before they could react, two arrows struck the woman's chest. She let out a blood-curdling scream as she fell to the ground.
Luna's eyes locked onto Elijah's, her mind racing with questions. "Who did that?"
Elijah's eyes scanned the room, his senses on high alert. "I don't know, but we need to get out of here. Now!”
"Elijah, look!"
