The moment I opened the door and saw her standing there, everything inside me shifted.
I had expected quiet. Order. The simple comfort of being alone after a long day. Instead, there she was. Liora. Flushed, slightly breathless, her hair damp around her shoulders, eyes wide as if she had not expected me either.
For a second I forgot how to speak.
She explained something about needing to shower, about Gina being busy, about the room not being convenient. I nodded, stepped aside, let her in, trying to act normal while my mind scrambled to catch up with what was happening.
