Amani could smell another wolf nearby she had been practicing her hunting in her wolf form now that she had Pearl to care for, her spirit partner Shadow was a wolf and coached her " crouch low make sure to protect your stomach and neck" she remembered the words "keep your body low, don't forget what we planned" she told Pearl then went into stalker mode low to the ground she sniffed then closed her eyes listening to the sounds of the wind " brother show my eyes what they can't see , where hides the one hiding from me" when she opened her eyes she saw a golden dust floating in the air making a path. Without thinking twice she dashes towards the end of the trail , with a loud growl she pounced on what looked like a red and white wolf , the wolves eyes went wide it whimpered and showed it's entire neck to her causing her to back off of the wolf "why are you following us? what do you want with us and don't lie I have ways of knowing the truth" the wolf's eyes went wide "you have my sister, I wanted to make sure she was safe we got separated when we ran away from the bad smelly wolves" before the wolf could say more she heard Pearl running towards her she moved out the way in time before Pearl launched herself at the other wolf "big brother, I missed you " they frolicked happily "my name is Rufus I am eight years old , my sister is the same age her name is Runt. well those are what the smelly she wolves called us" he was telling her , she frowned hearing what he was telling her meanwhile Pearl rubbed her body against his "my new name is Pearl mama Amani gave me the name" Amani would have said something but she noticed there was a crow that seemed to have been following them for a few days now . Crows were finicky creatures but she knew they were special so she took a chance shifting to her human form she called out to it "Hey Crow come here! I'd like to talk with you please" the crow tilted it's head to the side the picture of it made her smile it's looked so cute like that "Speak" the crow said in a human like voice "please let my people know I am safe heading North I must bring these children home to their rightful parents , they can meet me there I will pass messages if and when I can if there are any of your brethren around . If you should return I will give you a good meal as thanks deal?" she had never thought a crow could be so cute until that day "be back , feed me soon" it said then flew off making her laugh "what a cutie" she mused she had been shocked when she turned around to see a young boy standing behind her "I didn't know you were a werewolf too!" he said excitedly she was shocked "wait Rufus you can shift? why hasn't Pearl shifted then?" she questioned with a hand on his sister's head he petting her while talking to Amani " Our family is different from other packs , I don't know too much about them since we were stolen away as infants but I heard enough from the bad guys to know . When we are born like wolves are we too are blind and deaf with great sense of smell, Our wolves have control until we are deemed able to protect our human selves so when we can protect our wolf bodies we can finally shift into our human bodies. I can shift because I was taught to fight and hunt. When she can survive on her own alone her wolf will let her human out unless the wolf is forced to the back by a stronger will than it's own" he spoke as though he was an adult not a young child and she found herself respecting him for it. Amani had never known much about werewolves she was just starting to learn everything about them through her teacher who was a wolf after all, her teacher told her about the moon goddess about having a wolf spirit collected to your own when you were a wolf and about soul mates , apparently you will know when you meet your mate the moment you touch one another. She had also learned that Silver wasn't necessarily dangerous but that the mercury in the silver was, she would still be able to wear the aluminum necklace that belonged to her mother which made her happy. She had also learned that the moon goddess mother of wolves was the same deity that the witches followed as well, however she hadn't learned there were different types and styles of werewolves. "What makes your family so unique if you don't mind me asking?" she was curious to know what kind of wolf families there were out there "a very old powerful family" was all he said. Not getting any other information out of him she walked back to their hiding place with the two siblings . True to his word the crow had returned finding the group two days later two villages away at a medicine mans camp , as they were passing through the party of three had smelled the sickness in the air Amani had smelled the same smell in the past it was a flu that claimed many lives it had to be treated quickly and so she shifted into her human form Rufus did the same keeping Pearl close to him as they made their way there Amani was picking herbs she would need to help cure the people if they had no medicine man or he was ill she would rise to the challenge. As it turned out they did have a medicine man but he was unfamiliar with all the ways in which it could be cured and his way only had a 60% success rate with the knowledge that their medicine had close to an 80% rate of success she taught him all the herbs she had been taught as a child of five to pick and seep in some boiled water. She had been surprised to see this village was completely mixed with all different types of people some she had never seen in her life like people with bird heads she just smiled at them when they smiled or waved when they waved . She had been cooking some fish when she felt rather than saw the crow swooping in for a landing right next to her "Feast please, Shay wants feast" it said as soon as it landed she had been expecting him nodding towards Rufus he smiled then walked over to where they sat if you would follow me I've put your meal aside in our tent " Shay looked up at Rufus bobbed her head then said "lead, now, hungry" he nodded while Amani chuckled to herself she really did like that crow.
