Broken Peace

1314 Words
For once I am alone. The peace is welcoming, yet it is overwhelming. I am so used to having my family around me, that it's odd not to hear their voices. I had woken up with all of them gone. I found it odd and even odder when none of them were at breakfast. As far as I know, nothing important is happening today.     I stripped out of my clothes and slid into the bathtub. I leaned back, relaxing for the first time in a while. It brought comfort not having to worry about anything. My mind for once is clear and not in a million pieces. "One never knows how much you want to be alone for a while until it actually happens." I muttered.     The water went over my cuts. Guilt ran through me as I rubbed a hand among them. I ran my hand along the tattoo I didn't show my friends. I had it covered with make-up the day I showed them my tattoos. The tattoo was of another baby's foot with a small hand. This one is wrapped with a ribbon and a pink bow. Two years ago I had left my friends for a year to live with my grandmother. I got into a bad relationship, one I often refuse to remember. In the end, I ended up losing a baby girl when I was five months along. That had sent me into a bad depression for months. The only people keeping me alive was my grandmother and the thought of my family.     I shook my head from my thoughts as a knock sounded on the bathroom door. I sighed. There goes a peaceful day. "Who is it?" I called.     "It's Jenna. I am here to order you to get dress so that you and I may have a girls day. Tarrant is distracting the boys. He somehow managed to drag his brothers in on it." I chuckled at the image that popped in my head.      "Alright, just give me a few and I'll be out of the bathroom." I stood up and grabbed one of the towels. I dried off and wrapped it tightly around me. I opened the door and Jenna stood at the end of my bed with clothes. "Already chooding my clothes? What are you planning?" I asked.     "Nothing." She said a little too clamly. I raised a brow before looking at the clothes. She had pulled out an emerald shirt with a grey vest followed my grey pants and my black boots. Simple I suppose.     I quickly dressed and followed Jenna. She led the way outside and towards a carriage. Queen Miranda stood by the carriage with a bored look. "I somehow managed to convince her to go into the city and relax. There is no way I am calling that place a village. It is way too big to be one."     "Okay...if she tries anything, I am slapping you for it." I warned her. She gave a slight nod in agreement.      "This better be worth my time." Queen Miranda said. Jenna smirked.     "Have you ever went out before? You know, with just friends?" Jenna asked.     "I don't have time for friends. I have a kingdom to rule." She stuck her nose in the air.     "No wonder you are so boring." I muttered. No one said anything else until we got out of the carriage.     Walking through the town is rather interesting. No one really acknowledged the queen except for a few bows here and there. It was interesting to watch. "This place is rather cool. Seems alot more interesting than the places back home. I do miss ice cream though."     "Ice cream? What is that?" We looked at Queen Miranda in disbelief.     "Evie, a crime had been done." I rolled my eyes at her and smiled.     "Figure out a way to undo it then." I told her. She pouted.      "I will." She declared. Unfortunately the joy did not last long. Screams began to break out through the crowd.      "Go check out what is happening!" Queen Miranda ordered her guards. People started running our way. The pounding of feet and growls were heard among the screams.     "Evie!" Jenna nearly shouted.      "Back to the carriage now! It's those f*****g wolves from hell!" Jenna didn't think twice. She grabbed the queens arm and took off. I tried following behind, but one of the wolves jumped in front of me. "Oh hell no. Not today you red-eyed freak!" I declared sharply.      Screams and pleas were coming from everywhere. In the distance I heard Evie scream my name. I was able to look around the wolf and see her running back this way. "Okay, you are going to get the longest lecture when I am done here." I growled. The wolf swiped at me, catching me on the arm. I hissed in pain, but was glad to see that it wasn't deep.     "Evie, what do you suggest we do?" Jenna asked when she got to me.     "I suggest we kill this thing. Get those two swords. I know we don't know how to use them, but it is the only thing right now." I said firmly. She grabbed a sword and tossed one to me. "Distract it while I go around the back."      I ran around the wolf as Jennna began to distract it. The wolf is tall enough for me to go under and stab it. "This better be one f****d up dream." I growled. Surging forward, I skidded under the wolf. I slid the blade across the stomach. Blood gushed out, covering me. "That bath was so not worth it."     "Evie, watch out." Jenna warned. I jumped out of the way of the wolf's paw. I jumped onto the wolves back. "BE CAREFUL!" Ignoring Jenna I went for the wolf's neck. I stabbed the creatures neck. I let out an insane laugh, which had Jenna pausing for only a moment.     More blood gushed out as I went deeper. The wolf began to whimper and howl in pain. The wolf began to buck and run around. I kept a tight hold, laughing as it ran in circles. I climbed the wolf's head. I lifted the blade and stabbed it's right eye. "Toss me the other blade!" Jenna threw the blade and I caught it. I then stabbed the wolf's left eye. I jumped off as it began to swipe at it's eyes. "Sling shot and spears." I demanded.     We began making a large sling shot while the guards stood off to the side in shock. Queen Miranda watched us in terror. "And they call themselves soldiers." Jenna snarled. She stormed over to them and grabbed their spears. She then handed me one. I grinned and giggled. "You have lost it. My best friend had lost it."     "Do hush and help me focus this." I ordered. I made her kneel in front of me as I balanced the spear on her shoulder. I studied and then the spear fly. It got the wolf in the neck. "Damn it to seven hell." The neck spear didn't do much better. It entered the dogs leg.     "Focus Evie." Jenna whispered. I nodded. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath. I opened my eyes and let the final spear go. Time seemed to slow down as I held my breath, waiting. The spear landed on it's target, right in the chest where the heart lies.      "I never want to do that again." I declared. Jenna nodded in agreement. "That was kind of fun though."     "Have you gone insane?" Jenna started to hit me but quickly stopped. "You need a bath, blood girl." I laughed. "I hate you."
