Battle Stories

After that day in the healing ward, things went a little weird. We had told them our names, which led to them sort of freaking out, but out of joy. Findig it odd, we asked them what was going on. they explained everything. It ended up with all of us calling the royals insane. They played it off and told us many other things about our family. I still think they arre insane after being here for a month. I have tried to convince them to find a way home for us, but they kept coming up with excuses. I just gave up after a while.     "I'm bored. Do you wanna go find the boys?" Jenna asked me. I sat up and looked at her. "How can you stand being in this room all the time?"     "Let's go look for the boys." I muttered glumly. "I am so sick of being here. Everything is so fancy."     "I know what you mean. So, how did you convince the maid or whatever to let you wear a pants and shirt today?" Jenna curiously asked.     "I don't think you want to know." I said. Thinking back to the maid, I feel sorry for her. Jenna narrowed her eyes. "Okay...I may or may not have threatened her."     "What did you say?" Jenna asked slowly.     "I told her if she forced me into a dress one more time, she'd be thrown out the window as an outlet of my anger." I explained. "She may have ran out of the room crying in fear. Another maid came in with a pair of pants and a shirt. She left me a vest too, but it looked a little too tight, so I left it off."     "I think this place is bringing out the b***h in you." Jenna stated.     "Nah, the b***h in me has always been there. You just got to look for it." Laughing, we walked outside, knowing the boys will be out there.      "Well, well, well, if it isn't our hermit sister." Neil shouted out. I rolled my eyes as he hugged me. "Thanks for getting her out here, Jenna. It gets rather boring without her."        "Sorry guys. You act like you haven't seen me for days. You come into my room two hours before you go to bed or you all just sleep there." I said. Neil shrugged and dragged me to sit by everyone else. "Anyone else tired of this place?" They all raised thier hands.     "I'm so sick of dressing fancy. I miss hiking and just being able to be alone without a guard following us everywhere. You can never be alone here. Feels like a prison. I can honestly say that I am not surprised our family left. I would too." I nodded in agreement. Jonah hates not having freedom. It's one reason as to why I don't leave the room much.     "So, I found this old man yesterday. Apprantly he has been alive for over a thousand years. He new our many times great-grandparents and offered to tell us about them. What do you say we go and find him so we can learn more? I want to know why we are treated so well when they don't know us." Neil said.      "That sounds like it will help pass the time." Erick said. He hasn't been happy due to the lack of planning the wedding. Adrian isn't fairing much better. It took me three days to assure him that we will do a wedding one way or another.      We walked around the castle until we lost the guards that had been following us. Neil then led us down another hall way. "He said that the room at the end of the hall is where we can always find him. Not many come down this way apprantly."     "That should give us a few hours before the guards start looking for us." Joseph declared happily.     Neil knocked on the door and a gruff "come in" was heard. We walked into the room and a man sat in a plush arm chair. "I was wondering when you were going to come. Come in and sit. I want to tell you of the stories from a thousand years ago."     We sat around him, not seeing anywhere else to sit. "You girl, tell me your name." He ordered, pointing at me.     "My name is Evie Moon." I said.     "I remember your grandfather. He was the leader of the greatest group of soldiers. My son and daughter were involved in that group. Ameila and Richard Ross. They were very strong. Back to your grandfather though. I remeber the last time I saw him. He told me he could no longer fight a war that he and his friends aren't meant to fight. He had spoken with a seer a week before he approached me. He said that she said his descendants will come back here and return with the strength that no one has ever seen."     "Who did he lead?" I asked. My family has always been filled with leaders, but none of them have ever been good.     "They were known as the Phoenix Soldiers. The strongest group in many years. They fought many battles together and became close friends, so close that they were like family." He said. "Your grandfather always knew when to take charge. I remember this one time, one of the Dark Elves he was questioning spit in his face. He totured the poor fellow with annoying songs until he broke down, giving all the secrets away. Your grandfather was a little on the insane side."     "Hey, that sounds just like you, Evie. You tortured Big Kevin with that song that never ends. Good times, good times." Adrian giggled when he finished.      "Why were they called the Phoenix Soldiers?" I asked.     "They each bonded with a phoenix. The bonding made them able to turn into a phoenix. Now, phoenix's are thought to be light, but not all are light. Some are dark, but dark doesn't always mean evil. Always remember that." He said. "Dear me, I forgot to tell you my name. My name Orion BlackMoon."     "Bonding with a phoenix. Wow. Tell us more." Adrian leaned closer to Orion like a child would to an adult.     "There was this really horrid battle. The last one your ancestors fought in. They were fighting tooth and nail to make it the final one. They used this spell. A very powerful one. Now, none of them were really talented in magic, but when they put their magic together, they were able to over power anything. The spell they used made them live a normal mortall life, but they were happy none the less. The spell had protected the lands from darkness for the last thousand years. It kept all evil at bay, leaving us happy, but still fearful for the future. When they used that spell, they trapped the leader in a long sleep. No one knows when he will wake up, but when he does, we will be sent into war all over again." We all shared looks of worry.     For the next hour, we spent listening to stories of long ago. We didn't care about what was going on outside the room. We were only glad to know who our family was and what they did. We compared each other to them. It was interesting to see how alike we were to them, but so different.
