PROLOGUE
"Li–” she couldn’t finish saying my name as she felt pain on her body.
"Jane! Are you awake now?" I caressed her arms and she slowly nodded.
"Don't move too much,” I said gently.
"You should be at home," she said.
"No, I'm not leaving until you wake up."
"But I'm awake now."
"I should inform your brother that you're already awake." I was about to get my phone but she grabbed my arm.
"No, Lielle. Don't do it," she said quickly.
"What? I told him I'll inform him as soon as you wake up!" I said strongly.
"Where is he?" She removed her hand from my arm.
"He's probably home now. He was just here an hour ago."
"Oh. Just don't message him. Please…" she begged.
I placed my phone back on the table.
"Why?" I asked.
"He might come back. Do you want him to?" she asked calmly.
Thinking about how tired he is I didn't want that to happen too.
"N-No..." I said.
"Will you go home and leave me too?"
"Jane..." I looked at her in a frustrated manner.
"Lielle, don't leave me..." she said sadly.
"I wouldn't. I told you I'll be texting your brother if you'll wake up, right? I haven't texted him about you yet."
We became silent for a few minutes.
"I'll be in the couch if you need me." I stood up but she grabbed my arm.
"Lielle, wait..." she said.
"Why?" I faced her.
"Lie down beside me."
Seriously?!
"What? No! It's a patient's bed and I'm not unwell." I removed her hand from my arm but she grabbed it again.
"Is there a rule like that?" she asked.
"Jane!" I raised my voice.
"I don't want you to be sleeping in that uncomfortable couch!"
"But you should only be sleeping alone in your bed!"
"It's enough for the both of us. Please... I won’t be able to sleep well thinking you'll be sleeping there," she said worriedly.
F*ck it, Jane.
"Fine!" I said.
She moved a little bit to the side and I lied down beside her sideways, not facing her while she was facing the ceiling.
"Did you worry about me?" she asked.
I didn't respond.
"Sorry for causing you trouble," she said.
"Did you drink?"
"Yes, but only around six shots!" she said proudly.
"Six?! Then why did you bump your car?" I asked strictly.
"I was distracted thinking about the both of you. I was about to get drunk during that time."
I sighed after hearing her.
"Don't do it again,” I said seriously.
"Y-Yes..."
A few minutes later, she suddenly cuddled into my arms and I was just letting her.
"Thank you for staying, Lielle," she said lovingly.
"Yeah," I replied.
"Are you a Kim now?"
"Yeah, I am..."
"Then we're now sharing the same surname," she said calmly.
"Yeah," I replied coldly.
"Why didn't you stay and finish it? It was your brother's wedding not anyone else," I asked confusedly.
"You think I could stay? It was also the wedding of the person I love the most," she said with a sad tone.
It was very painful to hear. I could feel my heart being crushed to pieces.
"I thought I could stay but seeing the both of you together. It's really hard," she sighed heavily.
I caressed her hands, which she wrapped on my waist.
"Don't overstress, you still have to recover," I said while closing my eyes.
