Chapter 5 of The Gem

Minutes later, Jacey woke up with a severe headache. She could hardly see a single thing as well as she did before the car explosion. It turned out that the car was not an ordinary car as it was made with a built-in protective shield to keep the driver and passengers safe. She was glad that she survived the explosion as she was not ready to die. She heard footsteps nearby as they were approaching her. She tried crawling away faster and faster as she was injured, so she was not in the state to fight. The footsteps got louder and louder. Out of nowhere, a foot landed on her back, and she could not move as it was a very heavy foot. It also restricted all her movements. She tried to escape, for she did not know what was going to happen to her the next moment. She was injected with something that she did not know, but being an assassin made her guess what it was. She had also used that injection before to take out her victims. It looked very familiar, so she knew that she was about to die. All of a sudden, the things in her sight started becoming blurry as she could not see them well.

She took out a knife and was about to stab the person attacking her in the leg. The person kicked the knife out of her hand as the person knew what she was trying to do. He pushed the knife far away from her and out of her reach even if she tried. She passed a few minutes later from being injected with the drug. The person lifted her up from the floor and put her on his back. The person was taking her to his car when all of a sudden, a knife came flying from behind the guy. He sensed the knife and threw Jacey in the air. He quickly turned and caught the knife headed his way. He used his bare hand to stop the knife, and he turned and threw the knife back in the same direction from which it was thrown towards him. He caught Jacey right before she landed and continued heading toward the car. He heard shifting, a term used to signify the unbelievable running speed of an assassin, and he placed Jacey on the floor and slowly turned in the direction from which he heard the shifting

Out of nowhere, a kick was thrown at him. He dodged so easily even though the kick was thrown faster than he could imagine. He dodged all the kicks that were later thrown at him. He saw the person enter the light, and the person happened to be Roberta. She used so much speed and threw so many punches and dodged so many punches as well. She removed so many knifes and tried using all of them on the other assassin, but she missed all her attempts. She was punched in the stomach so hard that she flew back and coughed blood upon falling. The assassin appeared to be so many years younger than her. He was taller and slimmer as well because it had been a long time since Roberta had any assassination jobs. She noticed that and threw a smoke bomb on the floor, and it exploded and released smoke into the atmosphere. She ran quickly toward Jacey to take her and escape with her.She thought that the assassin could not see her as there was smoke in the atmosphere. She was about to take Jacey away when out of nowhere, a bat was swung at her, but she dodged as she escaped it very fast. She took the bat with unimaginable speed and used it to hit the assassin in the face, but he felt no pain as he was still standing there. She swung the bat at his face again and again, but he dodged all. She was so surprised by his speed as she had never seen such speed in the world of Assassins before. She threw a knife into the air toward the guy as a distraction for the guy, and she waited until his attention was fixed on the knife. She ran toward the guy with the bat with the intention of hitting him, but the guy jumped into the air and used his leg to throw the knife into Roberta's left shoulder as she stood directly below him. There was a poison smeared under his shoe, which he used to take out his targets and other assassins with. Roberta felt both of her shoulders go numb as the poison spread at a rapid rate. She could feel the poison spreading and started feeling unconscious after she removed the knife from her shoulder. The guy landed on the floor, standing on one of his two legs. He jumped and flipped and kicked Roberta in the face with his left leg. She fell to the floor as the kick took her out. She bled profusely from her nose. He tied her legs and arms with the thickest ropes he could find and threw into the bushes nearby. He then threw Jacey into his car and drove away. He placed her in the backseat and locked the doors.
