Chapter 15

When he arrived at his house, he opened the door and closed it slowly in order not to wake anyone up in case they were all asleep. He switched on the light in the living room and sat down on the couch to relax for a little bit as he had had a rough day. After a few minutes, he went to the kitchen to wash his hands as there was a lot of blood on his hands from fighting people that night. He opened the tap in the kitchen and started to wash his hands when all of a sudden, he heard someone approaching the kitchen from the living room. After he finished washing his hands, he turned off the tap and walked towards the door. He felt that someone was behind the door, so he opened and pretended as if he did not know. He saw the woman from the sewing store standing there looking at the ground. She asked him why he brought them there that late at night. He told her that it was too late to leave them on the road because he did not know their whereabouts or where any of them lived. She understood everything the assassin said and smiled with gratitude at the assassin as she was so happy that she did not die and so grateful to the assassin that he had rescued her and did not let anyone die in the explosion even though the suspicious looking guy might have deserved to die in the explosion. When they entered the living room, they saw the suspicious looking guy ascending the stairs to the rooms. The assassin told him to stop as he suspected that the man had stolen something of his. The suspicious looking guy stopped and slowly turned around and quickly ran down the stairs to the feet of the assassin and knelt down on both of his knees crying and begging the assassin for mercy as he felt guilty for exploding the woman's shop. When the woman heard what he was saying, she got angry and tried running towards the suspicious looking guy with the intention of beating him to death but the assassin was holding her back so she could not harm the suspicious looking guy as he did not want any sort of violence to happen in his house. He told the guy to get up as he was feeling uncomfortable with the scene as it made him look like a bad person as he could not forgive the guy.

After telling the guy to get up, he walked toward the couch and sat down, but he forgot that the television was turned off, so he got up once more and walked toward the television and turned it on at the switch. He took the remote from the television stand and walked back to the couch. He stopped in the middle of the walking and turned his head to the left and saw the man and the woman still standing there. He told them to sit on the couch as they must have been exhausted after that day. They sat down on the single couches and turned to look at the television. He asked them if they were hungry or if they wanted food to eat. The suspicious looking said yes so fast that even the assassin started to laugh. The suspicious looking guy wondered why the assassin was laughing because he was very hungry at that moment. The assassin asked the man what his preference of food was, and the man replied that it was jollof rice. The assassin took out a pack of jollof rice and gave it to the guy. He noticed that the television had just turned on because there was a light blinking under the television. He quickly took the remote and turned on the television as he was so bored and tired and just wanted to have some fun. He then turned to the woman and gave her a pack of fried rice as she looked like someone who liked fried rice. The woman happily took it and went to the kitchen. On her way to the kitchen, the woman turned around and asked the men if they wanted anything to drink with the food. The suspicious looking guy said no, but the assassin told the woman to come and sit down on the couch as the movie was just about to start. He told her that he would do it, so she should sit. The woman was so speechless that she tried speaking, but not even a single word came out of her mouth. The assassin walked over to the kitchen and opened the door after the woman had gone to sit on the couch.

When he opened the fridge, he heard someone's footsteps outside the kitchen. He closed the fridge with a little force to make a lot of noise as he did not want the person outside to know that he knew that the person was outside. He slowly walked towards the kitchen door leading outside and opened it. He saw his friend standing there holding drinks and even more food. He told his friend to get in as he was watching a movie. They both left to the living room holding the drinks. They left the extra food on the counter as the food in the living room was more than enough for everyone in the entire house. He sat down on the same couch with his friend. His friend's name was Steven. He had known Steven since childhood and was even the first person to know about Steven's job. Steven happened to be an assassin as well, so they had a lot in common. Steven did not wait for the assassin to give him food, but he chose his own food. He took plain rice and stew with a lot of meat in the rice and the stew. He opened it and inhaled the smell with so much joy. He was so happy and speechless. He directed his attention at the television and started watching the movie.
