Chapter 3: Pregnant
Lyra spontaneously let out a cry as she made contact with the concrete floor impulsively spraining her ankle in the process.
Alice quickly ran to her aid and held her firmly in her embrace glaring spitefully at Rebecca for her ruthlessness towards her friend
“Lucian, how could you treat your wife in this manner, have you no conscience?”
For a split second guilt flashed through Lucian's eyes but it was immediately replaced by a stoic expression. He swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat and glanced away from Lyra’s tears-filled face
Jessica snuggled into him, resting her head on his broad shoulders. But what hurt Lyra most was how Lucian delicately pulled her towards his body wrapping his hand around her slender waist
“Alice help me beg Lucian. Jake isn't telling the truth”
Alice's chest tightened in pain at the state of her friend, she wrapped her arms around her in comfort
“ I believe you Lyra. I know you wouldn't betray Lucian. He's just too blinded to see that” she spat in anger as she glared at their faces
Lucian sighed. After sucking in enough air to calm his nerves, he looked at Lyra squarely “ My decision is final and we're already divorced as of this moment. Get yourself out of my property this instant, I don't make me throw you out.”
Alice shook her head bewildered and gently pulled Lyra up from the ground, she could no longer stand the treatment she had to endure
“Lucian for your sake, I hope you know what you're doing. Have a good life with your mistress.”
Lyra's cries were the only constant sound in Rodriguez's residence as she was being pulled away by Alice
“Thud!”
“Lyra! Lyra! Lyra! Somebody help!” Alice screamed in panic after Lyra suddenly collapsed just before she could pull her to her car
Strucked by fear she cried out to Lucian for help.
Lucian felt a stab in his heart when he saw Lyra’s paled face as she collapsed on the floor. He quickly pulled himself away from Jessica and moved in the direction of Lyra to Savage the situation when a scream stopped him a few distance towards her
“Ah…aaaah!” Jessica witted in pain as she fell on the floor groaning and crying
Frightened by the drastic change in her condition, Lucian quickly rushed back toward her scooped her into his arms, and rushed her toward the car ignoring Lyra
Just then a car pulled up and a man ran out towards Lyra's unconscious body and scooped her into his arms, with Alice running alongside him as he placed Lyra in his car
Something thug at Lucian's heart when he saw Lyra in another man's embrace. He stood transfixed glaring at the retreating figure in rage until he was summoned by Rebecca
A second later he was in his car driving out of the compound with Rebecca and Jake all rushing Jessica to the hospital.

“ How is she, doctor? Will she be okay? Why isn't she awake yet?” Alice asked looking at the man in a white coat beside Lyra’s bed fixing her infusion
Fear and frustration are evident on her face at the state of her friend. It's been three days since the incident and Lyra hasn't woken up yet but the doctors keep claiming she is fine
“Miss I understand your concern, but like I stated before there's absolutely nothing to be worried about. The patient has just been under a lot of stress lately and this is her body's way of recuperating” The doctor tried reassuring her again for the uptempt time
Just then Lyra flustered her eyes opened and let out a low groan at the discomfort she felt from the bright light radiating from the ceiling
“Lyra! Oh my God! Are you okay?” Alice asked in concern as she rushed toward her
It took Lyra a moment to realize she was in the hospital. Instinctively, her head spun around the room in search of Lucian
As if on clue, Alice's warm hands held hers firmly with a sympathetic smile “You'll be fine” she said reassuringly to her broken-hearted friend
“ I don't mean to interrupt your moment, but there's something you need to know” the doctor interrupted the duo
Lyra's heart tightened in fear as she stared at Alice's questionable. Who also like her was confused, as the doctor hadn't informed her of any complications despite her frequent questioning over the past few days Lyra was unconscious
“Is anything the matter? Is there something wrong with me?”
“ No, and yes.” The doctor stated further throwing them into more dilemma at his statement
Was she supposed to be worried or not
“I don't understand what you mean doctor.”
The doctor sighed. “ There's nothing wrong with you but you need to reduce your stress level for it to remain that way. And going forward, you will experience some changes like fatigue, nausea, mood swings, and many more as a result of your condition but it's nothing to worry about as it's normal.”
Lyra exchanged a puzzled look with Alice not quite understanding what the doctor was saying. Was she sick or not?
“I thought you said there was nothing wrong with me? Why then would I have these symptoms? Do I have a terminal illness?” Lyra enquired
Seeing the puzzled look on their faces, the doctor realized Lyra wasn't aware of her condition.
He let out a subtle chuckle and said “ I see you aren't aware of your condition. There's absolutely nothing to be afraid of.”
“Congratulations you're 9 weeks pregnant.”
