Chapter 1
Tina Praise, a 17 year old girl remembered how her friend, Prisca Johnathan came to her house and deceived her into escorting her to see a friend, claiming they wouldn't stay long, just a few minutes. Prisca begged, "Tina, please come with me. Let's go see Sharon. I promise we won't stay long, just a few minutes. Please don't say no." From trying to see Sharon, whom they didn't find on time, to meeting Prisca's secret male friend in an undisclosed apartment far from their village. Prisca knew that if she had told Tina the truth—that she wanted her to consider dating Patrick—Tina would never have agreed. Tina had always said she didn't need a boyfriend and didn't want to lose her virginity or disappoint her poor mother, who had been struggling to feed her and her two younger siblings ever since their father abandoned them for another woman, leaving no trace or whereabouts. As they stood on the village street waiting for a bike to arrive, Tina contemplated whether to still follow Prisca or return home to her father's house and prepare for her mother's return from selling fruit at the market square. But Prisca immediately stopped a bike and dragged Tina to get on with her before Tina could change her mind. When they arrived at the apartment far from their village, Tina scanned the front of the house with her eyes, already feeling uncomfortable after seeing a handsome dark-skinned guy step out of the house. He approached them and greeted Prisca first, hugging her tightly before he left. Tina became worried and said to Prisca, "Prisca, why don't you just call Sharon on the phone instead of us going inside? Just tell Sharon that we're outside waiting for her." But Prisca refused Tina's suggestion to return home and instead opened the entrance door to the beautiful house without even knocking. Tina gulped as she stood outside, not wanting to follow Prisca into the house. But Prisca stopped and, seeing that Tina didn't want to follow her inside, said, "It's not safe to stay out here alone, Tina. Come inside; let's wait for Sharon to arrive. It's Sharon's brother's house." "Sharon's brother's house?" To the best of Tina's knowledge, Prisca never told her they were going to Sharon's brother's house. Tina had thought they were going to Sharon's family house and blamed herself for following Prisca, not even knowing the way back to her own house from Sharon's brother's house. Tina sighed and went inside with Prisca. Prisca was thrilled to see Sharon's brother, Patrick Scott, wearing only shorts and displaying his chiseled chest as he stepped out from the kitchen into the living room. Prisca immediately rushed up to Patrick and gave him a quick hug, making Patrick sit down with her on his thighs on the nearest couch. Tina frowned as she stood by the door, watching Prisca throw herself into the guy's embrace without shame. Patrick Scott had had his eyes on Tina since the first day he saw her at the marketplace helping her mother. Patrick fell in love with Tina then and wanted her to be his girlfriend. But Tina refused, not giving him any chance to get closer to her or know her name. Luckily for Patrick, he met Prisca, whom he had also seen with Tina several times, strolling down their village road whenever he traveled home to visit his parents. ##### Patrick had first begged his sister, Sharon Scott, to help him talk to Tina on his behalf, as Sharon attended the same school as Tina and Prisca. But Sharon refused, saying she and Tina weren't friends and she had nothing to do with girls like Tina, who she considered too local to be seen with. Sharon was spoiled to the core, and Patrick knew it. At 16, Sharon was either clubbing, partying, or sleeping with different men, yet she looked more mature, like a woman in her late thirties. After several pleadings and bribes from Patrick, Sharon finally agreed and introduced Prisca to Patrick, telling him that Prisca was friends with Tina in school and could probably help him talk to Tina. But in Prisca's mind, she thought Patrick liked her and wanted a relationship, not knowing that Patrick only wanted to use her to connect with her best friend, Tina Praise. Prisca was now all over Patrick as she sat on his thighs, making him uncomfortable as he saw his crush still standing by the door. Patrick politely excused himself from Prisca's embrace and told her, "Prisca, why don't you sit on the nearest couch? Let me stand up and serve you and your friend some drinks." "Okay," Prisca agreed, moving away from Patrick's thighs. Patrick stood up and walked over to Tina, who was still standing by the door. Patrick remembered that he had been looking for ways to get to know Tina and had even been bribing and asking Prisca countless times to help him meet her. Additionally, Patrick remembered the last time he asked Prisca, "Prisca, I want to ask you about that fair-skinned friend of yours I saw with you at the market square." Prisca replied, "You mean my best friend Tina Praise. Tina doesn't have time for male friends. She's always busy with her mother, looking after her two younger brothers, or doing her homework or chores, so forget her." Patrick complied and didn't ask about Tina again to avoid making Prisca suspicious about his interest in Tina. Now, the beautiful, tall, and shapely Tina was right in front of him, making him smile. Patrick knew that Prisca also liked him, but he never took his relationship with Prisca seriously. All Prisca ever wanted from him was s*x or money, as he was a rich guy doing well for his age at 25. Patrick observed that Prisca was as loose as his younger sister, Sharon, and he had seen Prisca date several of his friends she met through him or whenever she visited his home. Even his male friends confirmed they had slept with Prisca, which was why he refused to get intimate with her, telling her he wanted to build a serious relationship first. Patrick then walked up to Tina, who stood by the entrance door, to properly welcome her into his home, as it was obviously her first visit. Furthermore, Patrick saw that Tina was uncomfortable and said, "Hi, pretty. My name is Patrick Scott. Sorry your friend Prisca didn't introduce us." Patrick smiled at Tina, meeting her gaze, but Tina looked away from him toward Prisca, who just rolled her eyes from them in jealousy, where she sat on the couch, not wanting to respond. Patrick continued, "I don't bite, dear. Feel at home and have a seat." Patrick gestured for Tina to sit on one of the couches as he moved away from her, but Tina still stood rooted by the door, not replying or making any attempt to move until she heard Patrick repeat, "Have a seat, please." Tina finally moved away from the door and sat on a couch closer to the door, feeling uncomfortable. She remembered seeing Patrick's face before. However, Prisca stood up from the couch and walked up to Patrick, who was still standing by the door, staring at Tina. Prisca approached Patrick, held his arm, and stylishly said, "Leave my friend alone, Patrick. Why not let us go in and enjoy ourselves since Sharon isn't home yet?" But Patrick looked at Prisca and refused, excusing himself from her hold. He said, "No, Prisca. Why not try to make your friend feel comfortable? Let me go inside and get you both some drinks."
