Sharon and Prisca entered Patrick's room, and it was Prisca's first time stepping inside. Sharon wasted no time pointing to the dried bloodstain on the bed. She walked to the window and pulled the curtains wide open for Prisca to see clearly, saying, "Look!"
"Oh my!" Prisca gasped as the reality of what she was seeing dawned on her. "No, it can't be true. It can't be possible."
"It can't be what?" Sharon asked in disgust. "So your friend didn't even have any self-control? As soon as we went out last night, she came here to my brother's room and slept with him, yet she pretends to be a saint?"
"No, Sharon," Prisca shook her head, unwilling to believe it. "I've known Tina for a long time. She wouldn't just agree to sleep with your brother, not after rejecting Patrick's proposals several times. I thought your brother was a saint. I can't believe this, because Tina has vowed never to sleep with anyone until she gets married."
Sharon became irritated at Prisca's words and asked, "So what are you implying? That my brother r***d that girl?"
"No..." Prisca said, unsure how to respond. She cursed and blamed herself internally for leaving Tina behind. She thought Patrick wouldn't dare touch Tina or take advantage of her. She never knew Patrick was only pretending, waiting for them to leave the house so he could take advantage of Tina. She felt really bad for Tina and wanted to see her immediately.

When Patrick arrived at Tina's village junction, he didn't know the way to her house. He stopped the car along a street, parked, and switched off the engine.
As he was about to ask Tina for directions to her house, hoping to drop her off, Tina immediately rushed out of the car without looking back or thanking him. She ran off, walking quickly into the streets towards her house. Patrick sighed, shocked at her actions. He slid into the passenger seat, shut the door, started the engine, and drove off to work, knowing he was already late.

Mama-Tina was still at home, preparing for the market, standing in front of her house. She was worried because she hadn't seen Tina yet.
Tina was her only daughter.
Mama-Tina sighed, remembering how Mama-Prisca had embarrassed her when she went to her house to find out if Tina was there. Since, Jude had already told her that Prisca visited their home the previous day before Tina left with her.
However Mama-Prisca insulted her for coming to ask about Tina's whereabouts, blaming her for not raising Tina well.
Mama-Tina regretted rushing to Mama-Prisca's house before dawn. If she had known Mama-Prisca was so indifferent, she wouldn't have wasted her time confronting her about Tina not being home.
Mama-Prisca had told her, "How am I supposed to know where your daughter went with mine? Did I follow them?"
"Hmm..." Mama-Tina gulped as Mama-Prisca continued, "You should have trained your daughter better, not to have friends or go out with Prisca. Please leave my house and don't come back, because I haven't seen Prisca either, and I didn't go to your house or anyone else's to ask about her."
Mama-Tina knew Mama-Prisca was the type of mother who would cover up her daughter's wrongdoings and hide her emotions. She left Mama-Prisca's house, praying nothing bad had happened to Tina and Prisca, and returned home, but Tina was still not back.
Mama-Prisca, also knew it wasn't the first time Prisca had stayed out late and not returned home to sleep. She didn't take it seriously, assuming they had stayed at a friend's place due to the heavy rain the previous night.
She knew if she told Mama-Tina all that, Mama-Tina might become more emotional and refuse to leave, condemning Prisca and making it seem like Prisca was a bad influence on Tina.
Mama-Tina sighed, remembering how Mama-Prisca had treated her. She started arranging her empty basket and handbag to take to her market stall, where she sold fruits, waiting for Jude to finish his meal.
Jude was inside eating breakfast while she sat outside on a bench, not wanting to leave him alone in the house. She didn't know when Tina would return, as Richmond had gone to his friend Alex's house to help Alex's father at his furniture workshop.
Mama-Tina sighed as she sat on the bench in front of her house, waiting for Jude to finish his meal.
Just then, she saw Tina, looking haggard and dejected, walking into their compound. Their house had a small entrance gate, and the compound wasn't big, as her husband had owned the house before running away with another woman. He hadn't finished the house, only managing to fence the half plot of land and leaving a small opening as an entrance, so one could see who was passing by.
Mama-Tina knew her husband was enjoying the wealth of the curvy fair-skinned woman he had followed, claiming she was too local and troublesome, while she was calm, peaceful, and God-fearing. Yet, her husband claimed he couldn't stand her and abandoned them when Jude was just a baby.
Mama-Tina had tried confronting her husband about their misunderstandings, praying and hoping he would change and return home, but he hadn't. She hadn't given up hope on him, nor left his house to return to her father's village, believing he would come back one day because she still loved him. She had started her fruit business to support her children through government school education in their village.
Mama-Tina sighed, watching the tattered-looking Tina approach her.
Tina walked into the compound and slowly approached her mother, knowing she would be questioned about where she had been the previous night. Mama-Tina sighed and stepped down from the house's front, where she had been sitting on the bench before Tina approached.
"Good morning, Mom," Tina greeted her mother, looking down. Mama-Tina noticed Tina's eyes were swollen and red from lack of sleep, making her frown as she replied, "Good morning, Tina. Where are you coming from, and why are your eyes so red?"
Mama-Tina peered at Tina's face suspiciously, but Tina couldn't tell the truth and began to stammer, "I was with... Prisca, and she took me to Sharon's place... and we couldn't return last night because of the rain."
"Hmm..." Mama-Tina hummed, asking, "Is that why you're this red? And who's Sharon? Did you sleep at her house, or where exactly did you sleep last night?"
Mama-Tina looked at Tina eagerly, and Tina replied, "I slept there... at Sharon's brother's... No, I mean Sharon's place," she corrected herself.
"Hmm, Sharon's brother... Sharon's place. Which one should I believe now? Don't let it be that you went to a man's house and slept with him?" Mama-Tina questioned, narrowing her eyes as she looked Tina up and down. Tina looked unkempt, with red marks all over her face and neck, but she immediately replied, "No, Mother, it's Sharon's place. I mean Sharon's family house."
Tina looked down, unable to meet her mother's gaze, and heard her mother sigh, "Hmph... It's alright."
Mama-Tina continued to stare at Tina, feeling something was not right. If everything was truly fine, why would Tina look so sad if she only slept at Sharon's place and nothing happened?
