*Summer*
*beep* *beep* *beep*
I groaned loudly as I flipped over in my bed, so that I could hit the snooze button on my alarm clock for the tenth time this morning.
I opened one eye to peek at the time, growling in irritation at myself and jumping out of the bed as soon as I noticed how late I was. “Crap!”
I sped to the bathroom to start getting ready for the meeting as I kicked myself for having stayed up so late finishing that book. I just had to find out if Fabio and Ava ended up together. They were my favorite in the book and my nosy ass needed to know.
I sighed when I looked in the mirror, the dark circles under my eyes tormenting me even more.
Now I’m going to be too tired to go out tonight with the girls, and I sure as hell can’t bail on them again because I know how crazy they can get when I do.
~Flashback~
“Come on, Summer. You didn’t do anything for your eighteenth birthday and promised us that you would let us take you out to have fun,” Winter whined as she pulled on my arm.
“Yeah!” Reina joined her while she crossed her arms.
“Um—I—um—changed my mind?” I winced, annoyed with myself for not coming up with something better.
“Okay. You asked for it,” Reina muttered under her breath as she turned away from me.
“Wait! Asked for what?” I yelled after them as they ran out of my room as if they were children.
~Hours later~
*knock* *knock* *knock*
“Coming!” I shouted from my bathroom.
That’s weird. The girls usually just walked in, and knowing them, they were probably still upset with me.
I quickly opened the door to find two police officers standing before me. What the heck? How did they get in? Why are they here? Who are they looking for?
“C-can I h-help you?” I stuttered as my mind kept going through different reasons for their visit. Why didn’t someone mind link me or something?
“Yes. We were told you were Summer. Is that correct?” The tall, muscular blonde cop, asked me, the corners of his mouth twitched in what seemed like amusement.
“Y-yes,” I breathed heavily. “I swear I didn’t do anything!” I quickly blurted out.
I mentally face palmed myself as I thought about how guilty that sounded.
They stepped inside my room without responding and started towards me as I slowly backed up into the nearby wall. One of them roughly turned me around and handcuffed me, making my heart pound against my chest.
There was no way that this was happening. It’s me! Summer!
“What the heck?!” I yelled in panic when I found my voice again.
“Don’t make this more difficult than it should be, sweetie,” the other officer whispered in my ear, forcing a shiver down my body.
I gulped loudly, but before I could talk, one of them started taking off his clothes, making my eyes widen at the scene.
Okay, for real. Like what the f**k?!
I caught movement by the door from the corner of my eyes and instantly spotted Winter and Reina laughing as they quickly pressed play on a tablet before music started playing. The girls began to cheer them on as the cops—or pretend cops, goddess knew—continued stripping and dancing.
I closed my eyes tightly and gritted my teeth as I prayed to the moon goddess.
Why me?
~End of Flashback~
I cringed at the memory, knowing damn well that I did not want to go through that again, so I had better get myself together and prepare for a long day and night.
With a deep sigh, I pulled my hair into a messy bun and started getting ready.
*Reina*
“I’ll meet you downstairs!” I quickly shouted to Xander, rushing out of the door before he made it out of the bathroom.
I’ve been avoiding him since I met my mate. It just didn’t feel right anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I still thought my mate was an asshole, but he was still my mate.
The thing was that I didn’t get the fūcker’s name or anything else about him for that matter. Nice job, Reina!
“We will be hearing from him soon.” Aurora informed me, making me roll my eyes.
“How do you know?” I questioned her with a huff.
“All I can say is that I felt his power and usually powerful wolves keep an eye on their mates at all times,” she replied as she wiggled her brows at me.
“You have got to be fūcking kidding me! A stalker? I got a stalker as a mate?” I yelled at her as she giggled in response.
I reached Summer’s room and knocked twice before Winter opened the door, rushing me in as soon as her eyes met mine.
“Finally!” She squealed like a lunatic, making me cringe at her excitement at this hour of the morning. “I’m so happy you mind linked me to meet here to talk about your mate. I barely slept last night trying to contain myself. All I wanted to do was talk about what happened.”
I rolled my eyes at her as Summer joined in on the tea. “Honestly, I want to know too.”
“You guys are such gossip queens.” I muttered before laughing with them.
I instantly jumped into everything that had happened, leaving them both with their mouths wide open.
“I told you two not to sleep around. Now look at you. You are lucky your mate didn’t kill Xander,” Summer chastised, making me roll my eyes at her little miss perfect attitude.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, let’s get moving. I don’t want to be late for my first alpha meeting. Especially since I’m the first female alpha to attend one. And having a female beta and gamma at that,” I told them with excitement, reminding them of the reason for this trip as I wiggled my brows at them.
“By the way, looking hot, babe,” Winter commented as she threw me a wink.
I decided to wear my favorite long sleeved, white blazer dress that had a deep cut in the front. The cleavage was on point. It was a mid-thigh dress, showing off my long slender yet toned legs. It also had a pointed layer in the front of it, making it look like an additional piece to the blazer. To finish the look, I chose a matching white and silver belt, with clear heels and silver accessories.
“You guys don’t look bad yourselves.” I replied, blowing them a kiss.
All three of us interlocked arms and headed out to meet the guys and warriors downstairs. Hopefully, I can focus on something other than my encounter with my mate.
*Alejandro*
I was super agitated, and it wasn’t because I was sitting at this stupid alpha’s meeting, waiting for the last asshole to arrive. Okay, that was totally the reason.
All the other alphas were early, but this one particular one from the Silver Moon pack was yet to arrive.
I needed to get this meeting over with so I could look for my mate. Yeah, I royally fūcked up by not asking for her name. Something so simple and the big bad alpha was so nervous that he forgot to ask. She looked and smelled so great, so I had an excuse for not thinking with my brain. Lucky for me, I was having her followed.
My warriors had mind linked me about an hour ago to tell me that she had left the hotel that she was staying at with about eleven other people. I told my men to not lose sight of them or I would have their heads. I also told them that I would report back after the meeting, so that I could reach the location of the warriors following her and have a nice talk with my mate.
“So, Alpha, what do you think about that strategy?” the alpha from the Red Claw pack asked me, breaking me free from my thoughts.
Fūck, I was so distracted, I wasn’t even listening to what he was saying.
“What did he say?” I mind linked Apollo, hoping to goddess that he’d have me covered.
This was why I always asked him to join the actual meetings with me. To save my ass when I dosed off. Plus, since he was of alpha descendant, his opinions and ideas were always welcome.
“He wants to have weekly meetings to review maps and prior attacks. That way, we can have an idea of which pack is next and have top warriors from other packs there to prevent so many deaths,” he replied before looking away to hide his eye roll.
“Alpha?” Alpha Killian questioned me again, irritation beginning to take over his features.
“My apologies. I was gathering my thoughts. I would like to see how this meeting goes to confirm if weekly meetings would even be necessary.” I told him, making his features harden for just about point two seconds before he schooled any emotion.
I don’t know why, but I don’t like Alpha Killian. He gives me a bad vibe. But that was nothing new, when us alphas rarely trusted each other.
The other alpha that was assisting in hosting this meeting with Alpha Killian walked in and said that the last alpha had arrived. Everyone in the room walked towards the long, wooden table in the middle of the space to take their seat and wait for the asshole to make his grand entrance.
We all watched with anticipation as the door finally opened before a familiar scent hit me.
NO FŪCKING WAY!
