The Beginning
The sun was setting over the small village of Brindleton as our heroine, Lyra, rode into town on her trusty horse, Phoenix. She was on a mission from the Queen to retrieve a stolen artifact from a nearby cave. As she made her way to the local inn, she could't help but feel a sense of unease. She had heard rumors of bandits in the area, and the last thing she wanted was to get caught off guard.
As Lyra entered the inn, she was greeted by the friendly face of the innkeeper, Samuel. He offered her a room for the night and some much needed food and drink. As she ate her meal, she overheard a conversation between two travelers. They were talking about a group of adventurers who had recently passed through town, on a mission to beat a dragon. Lyra couldn't help but feel intrigued.
After she felt like she could't eat anymore, she went in her bedroom so she could get some sleep because the next day would be really hard for her. Lyra was a very brave and powerful heroine but she was still getting nervous when she had missions to do.
She tried to sleep for more than two hours, but after rolling from here to there in bed, she realized the fact that she is the only heroine in this town and it became too overwhelming for her, but she couldn't help it, so she finally forced herself to sleep.
She woke up in the morning ready to go on her mission but when she looked out the window, there were dark clouds overflowing the morning sky and lighting striking trees just some meters away from the inn. Acknowledging the danger that she was put in by the storm, she decided to stay another day there polishing her weapons and training herself for what was about to come.
Lyra started to panic when the realisation hit her that her horse was in the poorly looking stable next to the inn. The heroine rushed out in pouring rain, running towards the wooden building that looked like it was about to fall to the ground. Entering, she was relieved to see that Pheonix was safe and sound, but the stable was still in poor condition due to the storm. Analyzing the place and the fact that there was no other option for her or her horse, she decided to leave him there hoping for the best. There was hay, water and everything the animal needed to get thru the storm was already placed there with care by the innkeeper.
Rushing back inside, careful not to be struck by lighting, Lyra was happy that she made it back in one piece. Finally, it was time for her to clean her sword and organize her freshly made arrows. With a damp cloth she slowly wiped away any dust or dirt from the razor-edged weapon. One hit with that sword and any standard armour would be penetrated easily, that’s why she always kept it immaculate.
Now, organizing arrows doesn't seem that difficult, but because she wanted everything that was done by her to be perfect, the arrows needed to be placed with care so that in battle they would help her to shoot faster.
After all the cleaning and organizing Lyra did, she decided that a hot cup of tea would help her soothe her nerves. Sipping the tea, the heroine couldnt help but be a little anxious about the mission she had to fulfill, but of course, that wouldn't keep her off track, because her ambition to please the queen was far greater.
Moving on to her training. Lyra was always harsh on herself when it came to physical activity, but today she had to do it in a way that wouldn't tire her too much, in order to still have the necessary energy for her journey. First, she did exercises for her arms and core and then for her legs and endurance.
When she finished, the girl was still unsettled by the thought that she might not return home with the artifact, but then reminded herself that she was the most brave and loyal soldier of her queen and needed to get this done.
